Ok so here's the deal. You saw my yarn I bought yesterday well it was a kit. It was designed to make this shawl: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/float-7And I got the shawl pattern hard copy and download, as well. I saw it in store and it was stunning. So I think I'm going to knit it. That's right, I think I am going to try knitting. Just because this shawl was so beautiful. My much advanced knitter friend said she can walk me through this and once I get going it will be easy peasy. I'm not so sure. My knitting skills are very dusty and they weren't even that good to begin with. But I want to try. What do you guys think? That shawl is fantastic, and I can see why you want to make it with that yarn. It's perfect. I would go for it. Most of it is just basic knit/purl, and once you figure out how to do the little bobbly part, it seems like it wouldn't be that hard. Have you ever knitted before? I knitted before I taught myself to crochet, but I was always too chicken to make anything other than a scarf or dishcloths because I hate fixing mistakes. LOL I knitted a shoulder bag once out of wool because I wanted to felt it. But that was like 15 years ago. I'm rusty. Very rusty. After that project I decided I liked crochet better than knitting. But this shawl is so pretty and the yarn is perfectly dyed for this pattern.

If it is too hard, or you don't like it, you can always undo it and find another pattern to crochet. I can't wait to see how this turns out!

Did you order the yuletide? I did I had an email this morning to say it's been dispatched, I'm feeling very excited about it. I'm glad a few people here are making that one. We can cheer each other on. I am in the Attic24 FB group, and for those who have already started on it, it seems like it is working up pretty quickly. I am hoping to get it finished in time for Christmas. My yarn is supposed to arrive on Monday. That seems crazy to me, that it will come so fast. Yet something I ordered from Amazon last Saturday is still not here. LOL

Hey you guys! I kind of got the king size headboard together. Well really it's just pieced together on my floor to be taken to Madison and to put together there but you can get the idea. Leaving wood raw for now for them to live with and decide if want whitewashed or a little surface white paint or combination thereof. I think I'd choose the surface white but it's not my decision and I'd be good either way. (Sample board in photo) Little lipped shelf on top with rope accent. Anchor accents also not attached and optional/for them to decide. I'll probably take it up tomorrow. But anyway, I think I like. Now off to clean and vac sawdust. Lol

The skeins of yarn were custom dyed for this shawl. I was thinking I could adapt it to crochet something like this blanket below. Basically doing a double crochet stitch shawl with a popcorn stitch when the pink shows up. But the more I look at it, the more I think I need to give the knitting a chance and if it doesn't work out, then back to my crochet idea.

jeremysgirl I think your crochet idea would work for it. BUT I have ZERO clue on how to do either knitting or crochet.

I have been lurking for along time. Decided it was time to jump in and start participating. 😏. Everyone does such lovely work. This is the current quilt I am working on. It will be a queen for our bed. This is one block of 12 that I will make.

I'm also a quilter/sewing person (in addition to jewelry, wire, vinyl, paper, sandblasting and anything else I get it in my head to try!). I need to make a cal king for our bed and I keep putting it off. If were to break it down like this, I think I could do it. I made a 117"x117" quilt many years ago for my sister.

This is a disappearing Nine patch. I am using 10x10 pieces. It makes a huge block. It goes pretty fast once you figure out the layout and how to cut them. First time trying this quilt pattern, I will definitely make more.

I wondered if this crochet shawl would work with your yarn if you don't like knitting the Float Stop, Drop and Pop Shawl

Gosh, so many lovely projects. scrapbookbobbie welcome to the thread jeremysgirl two beautiful things, the yarn(and stitch markers) and the pattern. The pattern reminds me of the Japanese cherry blossom season. Maybe do a few knitting swatches with spare yarn to get your hands back in to the rhythm of knitting. It's going to look fabulous. teri wonderful creations as usual. Hope the reunion was a blast.

A trip into Knitology in Traverse City yielded this yarn. And isn't cute how every skein of custom yarn came with a pretty stitch marker? Ooh that will look fab with your dress!

The headboard was a success! It looked ok lying on my floor but I can actually say it looks almost stunning up and on their wall. They both live it.
The only thing different I would do if I had to do it again is to make the "frame" around the fish/cloth part the same size as the board it's mounted on. I allowed a bit for the cushy stuffing and there's a slight gap. I'd have fixed it in the spot but they liked as is and are planning on getting some thick marine rope to go around it, frame it and make it another accent to the piece.
All in all it was quite a success!
My kid thinks I need to go into business. My thought is it's only fun when I don't "have to", then it becomes a fun-sucking job. Lol
