It’s a extremely sad story and her family has to be devastated . This story made the front page of every news network, paper etc and I have no doubt that if she wasn’t white , blonde and wealthy that nobody would talk about it. This is also white privileged even if it’s not going to help her

The number of these cases is heartbreaking .

I’m not sure it would have gotten as much attention if there hadn’t been so much info about them on Instagram. The sheer volume of clues for people to follow on Instagram, tik tok, and YouTube really upped the way people followed and talked about it. It felt like a reality show. Keeping up with the threads on Reddit as things broke in real time…just felt really different for this case. The video of the van narrowed the search area and seems to have led to finding the body.

I hope they can figure out the cause of death and go from there to arrest the culprit. I feel for her family.

Are they sure his parents have told the truth? Did they knowingly harbor a fugitive or killer? Is he really headed into the the reserve or is HE in the basement... Wait, not too many basements in Florida.
They are partially responsible that Gabby's body is in bad condition, decomposed.
And yes there is some white privilege, but her extensive social media encompassed the large crowd and those searching. The people on social media found her van, which very well narrowed the search area.

Maybe I'm just not paying attention enough, but I can't get away from the Petito story while I had heard nothing about the double murder in Moab. Weird. "Kylen Schulte, 24, and Crystal Turner, 38, were found shot to death in a creek near their campsite on Aug. 18, police have said. The couple were last seen Aug. 13 at Woody’s Tavern in Moab. They were reported missing on Aug. 16. Before they went missing, Schulte had told her friends that there was a “creepy man” around their camp, located in the South Mesa area of the La Sal Mountains near La Sal Loop Road, and that they had been intimidated by him, court filings in the case state. She also told her friends that “if something happened to them, that they were murdered,” the records state. Schulte worked at the Moonflower Community Cooperative in Moab, the same place where a witness reported seeing a nearby argument and apparent physical altercation between Petito and her fiance, which prompted the “domestic problem” investigation on Aug. 12." www.sltrib.com/news/2021/09/16/police-compare-notes/

That's a really sad story. They seemed like a hippy, carefree loving couple. Nothing that seemed to scream they had enemies. They hadn't been married very long.

I agree. Social media, especially about the boyfriend who returned home without her, refused to talk to police, and now is missing, has turned this into a mini soap opera. I’m glad that they were able to find the remains.

I can't help but think they're connected.

Human remains found in Wyoming are 'consistent' with description of Gabby Petito, FBI says..
I am not succeeding at linking the story!

I agree with all of the above. And in addition to her being a young, white female, her exposure on social media made her a person of particular interest to the media, and has kept the clues rolling in there as well.

Wait, not too many basements in Florida. They are partially responsible that Gabby's body is in bad condition, decomposed… IMHO this is unfair (at least at this time). Just like her parents, his parents have no idea (& aren’t responsible for) what happened thousands of miles away. They’re only told what their adult children want them to know, which likely explains the reason her parents waited over a week after talking with her on 8/24 or 8/25 (I’ve read both dates reported) & receiving the last text on 8/30 to report her missing on 9/11. None of the news reports I read mentioned the condition of the remains found today. Given the authorities don’t yet know the cause of what appears (without forensic confirmation) to be her death or could legally conduct surveillance on/track a person not charged with a crime, how would they know whether his parents are telling the truth? Perhaps his parents told the police exactly what their son told them, but he wasn’t honest with them. My thoughts are with both families & all others whose loved ones are missing or victims of tragic circumstances.

They found remains.
Had they found a body they would probably have said so.
I know nothing. Speculating as many have already done here.

I'll only say that everyone is assuming he left her - it is very possible she left him. Having seen some extremely volatile people experiencing a mental health crisis, I wouldn't rule it out. Now I would have very much hoped that in that scenario he would have reached out to her parents or someone else to notify them that there was a women in danger when realizing that she was gone. Prayers to her family.

This is hindsight, but Gabby’s last tweet is that there is no cell service in Yosemite. That is no where near Wyoming. Yosemite is in California. I think that might have been clue to her parents, but they didn’t pick up on it.
Poor girl! I am sad to hear they found her body. Now, they need to find her BF and ask him a LOT of questions!!

This is such a sad update. On one hand, if the body is truly hers, I'm glad she will go home to her parents. OTOH, I'm mad that she's going home this way.
Now it's time to hunt this guy down.
