For Mondays this month, I'll be giving you a list of card "ingredients"-- measurements for all the paper elements you're going to need to put together a clean and simple card. Then, you can either assemble your card according to the instructions/photo, or play around with the arrangement as you see fit. I will be putting the card photo and any assembly instructions in a SPOILER BOX in case you would like to try assembling your card with just the ingredients. It also keeps my photos from taking up all the space on your screen until you're ready to see them. Of course, as with all recipes, you should feel free to make alterations, additions, and other adjustments as you see fit-- just try to make sure we can get a sense of the original in your creation. (If I'm making egg rolls, please don't make a chocolate cake. LOL.) As a twist/added challenge: break out those stamp sets that haven't seen ink yet! If you are not a stamper, then use some other supply that hasn't yet been opened-- a new paper pad, a new pack of embellishments, etc. If you are playing for points, grammadee has scoring instructions as part of the printable list. If you complete all FOUR of my recipe challenges this month, give yourself 31 bonus points, because why not?Cardtober #4 RecipeNote that all measurements are given as LENGTH by HEIGHT; however, this will really only matter if you use a patterned paper that has a specific orientation, so you may want to consult the recipe image before cutting. Measurements are imperial; if you need them converted to metric, let me know and I will get out the magical conversion calculator.This card is an A2 (4.25" x 5.5") vertical card. I recommend selecting patterned paper first so you can more easily coordinate your cardstock and base. Ingredients* One A2 card base (I used a pre-cut white one; you can make your own) * 4"x5.25" solid colored cardstock (A in the photo) * 4.25"x2" patterned paper (B) * 4.25"x .25" colored cardstock (C) * 4.25"x .5" patterned paper (D) * 2.25" x 3.5" colored cardstock (E) * 2" x 3.25" white cardstock (F) Directions
 This assembly is pretty straightforward. My patterned paper (D) looks like two strips, but that's just the pattern on the paper. The white cardstock (F) is your focal panel. Feel free to use an image if you prefer, rather than a sentiment. I finished the card off with just a few star sequins, but there's plenty of room for more embellishments if you'd like. Here are a couple of variations of the card that I made.   |

Thank you for the challenge, Eddie-n-Harley . I resisted looking until after I made my card. It was so fun clicking on the spoiler and seeing the example. I do admire better the examples and how they reveal the patterned paper. If I find time I might make a card arranged more like the examples.  |

Using up scraps from past Christmas layouts to make cards. Two of this recipe, with a little twist to use a die cut within the dimensions. Inked the edges to give them more definition. Penn State fan here, will you be rooting for the Hawkeyes today? I LOVE the part of the game where everyone waves to the kids in the hospital. Gets me every time. angel97701 yes, my goal is also to meet lots of challenges with Christmas cards. I like how you turned it on the side. Your cards are very elegant, such lovely colors.

jjpeapea--no Iowa Hawkeyes are allowed in this household!!! We're Iowa State all the way! Go Clones!! Best of luck in Iowa City today. The wave is so awesome. They do great things at the U of I hospital.

Thanks for the challenge Eddie-n-Harley . What a fun idea for a challenge. I didn’t look until after I had cut everything, but didn’t like any of my designs so looked at yours for ideas. I have very few sentiment stamps and none that would fill that larger size so I used a new die set and cut a branch with acorns (which didn't fit together very well..from China) to fill the rest of the space. I hope that's ok.  Cardtober #4 Happy Fall jjpeapea , I love your design. I think it turned out great. The deep red fits perfectly with your warm wishes. Very pretty and unique. scrapnnana , your stamping is always so impressive. I love the little cupcakes that match your papers. Beautiful, classy card. iowagirl50147 , I love the colors on your card. I got my card done finally...playing cath up backwards. I haven't picked...and didn't check back until I was done with my card. Eddie-n-Harley love your samples and your sentiment is so fun. I got the idea for this challenge because I'd written down some dimensions with no reference image and no instructions, and when I cut out the pieces, I couldn't make it work. (I eventually had to go hunting for the reference image.) So major props to you for assembling your card from just the ingredients! Christmas is a good choice, too-- I love the peppermint paper, and that's a cool sentiment! |

My version includes three strips—2 card stock and one pattern paper. I have no idea why when I was cutting that I was so certain there was three strips and they were all 1/2 inch wide! I wanted a masculine feeling card so kept that in mine when I made it using blue, green and brown colors. The twist was a new package of green enamel dots.  |
