For Mondays this month, I'll be giving you a list of card "ingredients"-- measurements for all the paper elements you're going to need to put together a clean and simple card. Then, you can either assemble your card according to the instructions/photo, or play around with the arrangement as you see fit. I will be putting the card photo and any assembly instructions in a SPOILER BOX in case you would like to try assembling your card with just the ingredients. It also keeps my photos from taking up all the space on your screen until you're ready to see them. Of course, as with all recipes, you should feel free to make alterations, additions, and other adjustments as you see fit-- just try to make sure we can get a sense of the original in your creation. (If I'm making egg rolls, please don't make a chocolate cake. LOL.) As a twist/added challenge: break out those stamp sets that haven't seen ink yet! If you are not a stamper, then use some other supply that hasn't yet been opened-- a new paper pad, a new pack of embellishments, etc. If you are playing for points, grammadee has scoring instructions as part of the printable list. If you complete all FOUR of my recipe challenges this month, give yourself 31 bonus points, because why not?Cardtober #4 RecipeNote that all measurements are given as LENGTH by HEIGHT; however, this will really only matter if you use a patterned paper that has a specific orientation, so you may want to consult the recipe image before cutting. Measurements are imperial; if you need them converted to metric, let me know and I will get out the magical conversion calculator. This card is an A2 (5.5" x 4.25) horizontal card. I recommend selecting patterned paper first so you can more easily coordinate your cardstock and base. Ingredients* One A2 card base (I used a pre-cut white one; you can make your own) * 3.75" x 2.5" white cardstock or other focal panel (A in the photo) * TWO 3.75" x 3" patterned paper pieces; use different patterns (B1, B2) * 5.25" x 1" patterned paper (C) * 5.25" x 4" cardstock (or background paper) (D) * 5.25" x .375" (3/8") accent strip (cardstock, ribbon, specialty paper, etc.) (E) Directions

I played around with a couple of different paper combinations before I settled on this one. I really need to read instructions more carefully. Even if I had, though, I probably still wouldn’t have gotten it completely right. This is mine:

Thank you for the recipe challenge Eddie-n-Harley . It was tricky because there is so much paper compared to the background. Mine looks almost identical to scrapnnana . Great minds... thinking alike.... More comments and my card under the spoiler. It never occurs to me to tilt things! Tilting works so well with this card, and I like how the strip is over one layer and under the other. And ... OOPS looks like I cheated the sentiment rectangle out of a half inch. Sorry! Mistake, not deliberate...

Yours turned out really cute, jjpeapea, and I am glad that I’m not the only one who interpreted it the way I did.

Here are my cards for this challenge. Playing with SU! Gingerbread & Peppermint. The stamp was new, but the ink was very old. If I had been home I would have heat embossed to make the greeting show up more, but it is what it is...
Put these together with the scraps:

They turned out great, grammadee, and I love how you made extra cards with the scraps. I love the ornaments.

grammadee you can tell I am also enjoying the Gingerbread and Peppermint items. Your cards are so fun, following the recipe but all looking different. I had planned on doing my December Pocket Pages with that set, but it's getting all used up. I might have to reorder....

I picked up some white embossing ink b/c I thought I would use the stamps on kraft cs. But now I am thinking I could just diecut the whole shapes out of the kraft and then cut the detail out of white--or any holiday colour--and BOOM! An unlimited supply of Gingerbread & Peppermint!
...and now I have to buy some molasses and ginger so I can make some REAL gingerbread cookies...

Eddie-n-Harley, thank you for this challenge. I love your card and your pretty watercolored papers. Beautiful. I arranged my pieces before I looked at your card. Then I rearranged them like your card, but I have the hardest time leaving anything tilted on a card or page. I don’t know whether I am just “square” or what, but I can’t tilt things and leave them that way. So I rearranged again. jjpeapea, we were thinking alike. Your papers are so Christmasy and I love your sentiment. Those cars are especially fun. grammadee, you have the best papers for Christmas cards. You have love in the gallery. I just used scraps I had on the table. I had a partial sheet of metallic gold so decided I wanted this card to have a Fall look. I looked through my stamps and found the HELLO stamp that I bought at the AC Warehouse sale. I had not been used and needed a little priming to get a good impression. Fall Hello

Was delicious anyway.) I like your nontraditional color palette, as well as the accents on your sentiment panel-- did you fussy cut those?

Oh, wow! What neat takes on the composition! I think the bottom right might be my favorite. It's funny that you also made some extras with the scraps... scraps are how I composed the original!

I hear you on the "can't tilt things." Most of the time, I want to put everything down straight. When I see other people's cards with tilted elements, I think theirs look so natural and mine just looks crooked. So I was pretty happy with how my card turned out just by sheer luck. Of course, then I tried to replicate it and because I couldn't put everything exactly the same, I don't love the two others I made quite as much.

iowagirl50147, your card is so cute. I love that plaid paper. So perfect for Fall. Is your sentiment a cut file or is that an available font. It is exactly what fits this card.

nylene just right! Your colors are elegant, your leaves are so cute and your foil paper adds a special touch. It is cute how our cards are similarly laid out. @iowagirl5017 another just right! I'm mad for your Halloween plaid and I also love your sentiment and its font. The tilted rectangles look so perfect on your card.

scrapnnana if you have a Michael's close by they have great metallic cs for cheap. I got mine when it was 3 for $10 a pack of 25. So I don't feel bad for using them. katiekaty your pp is beautiful. Like your flower embellishment.

katiekaty very pretty, what a good use of the recipe. You are really making your Cricut work! Your edging is a nice touch and your layering is excellent. (Still glue challenged here, even with the needle point options...)
