You are so right. I don't think any pain equals that of losing a child.
I can only imagine your pain, my love. I am so very very sorry and moved by your loss. How incredibly generous of you, in the worst moment of your life, to give the gift of organ and tissue donation which will change the lives of so many.
Holding the hand at the moment of death is unspeakably hard, but it is a gift, too. Your son will know no pain, physical or emotional. You take that on. It is now on your shoulders. It is unbearably heavy, but it is love. Every ounce of your suffering is love. It's the price we pay for loving so hard and so well. It is a price no parent should have to pay, but we risk it. What else can we do? Life without love is meaningless.

One of my bff's from HS just recently lost her daughter. She left behind 2 little boys. It haunts me and I think of her daily.
