The thread talking about breakfast cereals made me realize we have come to the end of an era in our house. After decades of having 2-3 types of cereal/granola open at a time, no one eats cold breakfast cereal anymore. Today I tossed the two boxes of Cheerios sitting in the pantry when I realized their expiry date was July 2019. My best guess is no one has regularly eaten cereal for four years. I'm pretty sure DS will still want his annual birthday box of Fruit Loops but other than than we aren't cereal eaters any more.

I have a soon to be 13 year old and she is eating it less and less, I can't tell you the last time I ate cold cereal in the morning, but like the some others I do like occasionally in the evening. At the moment Trader Joes Maple Pumpkin oatmeal is the winner!

No cereals here for just a bowl of cold cereal.
But I do keep granola on hand to put on yogurt or cottage cheese.
And I’ll occasionally buy rice crispies for those bar treats or Chex to make the ‘mix’ for Christmas.

We have multiple boxes. I'm an infrequent eater, but enough members of the household eat it to justify having a bunch.

I am the only one in my house that eats cold cereal on a regular basis. DH eats it when he's trying to get away from fast food and food truck breakfast burritos, but it never lasts long. Both my YA kids hated cold cereal growing up, and will still only eat it when they have to.

I’ve never cared for cold cereal. Dh likes it - eats a Kashi granola on a bowl of Greek yogurt or with oat milk.

I grew up eating it but never really ate it as an adult, and my kids didn’t and don’t eat it.

Yes, I have many boxes of cereal going at once. DSO rarely eats cereal so he doesn't understand why I have so many boxes of cereal. I've tried to explain to him that I don't want to eat the same thing for breakfast every day, so I like to have several to choose from to mix it up a bit. I mean, he won't eat leftovers or have mashed potato two nights in a row, so you'd think he'd understand! Currently in the pantry I have the following: Bran Flakes with Honey & Almonds Weet-Bix Cornflakes (to make Honey Joys) Rice Bubbles (to make Mars Bar Slice etc) Uncle Toby's Tasty Flakes with Honey & Almonds Coco Pops Chex (for DS) Jordan's Crispy Oat Clusters Freedom Berry Coconut Clusters Golden Gaytime Coco Pops - DSO bought a three pack from Costco but we didn't really like them, so I have been using them to make a Mars Bar slice. Kellogg's Right Start And DS finished off the packet of Aldi brand Froot Loops yesterday. They were not very nice, which is why *I* didn't finish off the packet yonks ago. Hmmm, I didn't realise I had quite that many until just now. No wonder DSO questioned why there were so many! I'm pretty sure DS will still want his annual birthday box of Fruit Loops but other than than we aren't cereal eaters any more. It has been a tradition in my house for many years that I buy a big box of Froot Loops every school holidays for DS and I to share. So that's four times a year. But I usually buy a few over the Christmas / Summer holidays, because that goes for about 8 weeks.

We still keep cereal around for DS, who eats a lot of it when he’s home from school. DH eats granola. I like to keep a box of Cheerios and a box of Grape Nuts around for the very rare occasions I just want a bowl of cereal with a banana. I try to stay away from that many carbs regularly.

My husband eats cheerios for breakfast and chex for a snack. I like cereal but hate milk so I eat it plain.

My husband usually has 2-3 boxes of cereal open. There is also usually a box of something that my DGS likes for when he comes over. I will eat a bowl occasionally.

I get a desire for it every now and again but we are diabetic so we never buy it. DH would love to have 2 huge bowls every morning. Way bad idea.

It's the reverse in our house - DH has many boxes going (he snacks on cereal most evenings and sometimes has a morning bowl) and often mixes a couple together YUCK. I would like to have a set number that fit nicely in the pantry. I occasionally eat cereal but not often and the girls are occasional eaters as well. We have: Count Chocula Monster Mash 2 boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios 2 boxes of raisin bran crunch Booberry Special K with bananas Special K with chocolate Cinnamon Toast Crunch and I think there is still some Life cereal as well. DD21 and I have oatmeal most mornings. (old fashioned)

My dad and I eat cereal quite often, DH, DD and DS occasionally, although DS will only eat cereal dry (because he hates milk) and usually the only one he likes is Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Right now, I have 4 containers of cereal in my pantry. Honey Bunches of Oats (for DH), some Cheerios, Cap'n Crunch (with crunchberries, of course, although it is the bagged Malt O Meal brand that I can't taste the difference) and brown sugar Frosted Mini wheats. Oh, and a small bag of granola that DH adds to his yogurt.
I occasionally buy Raisin Bran or Special K or some other healthy-ish cereal, but whenever I ask my 94 year old Dad which he would like for breakfast he always chooses Cap'n Crunch or another mostly sugar cereal, LOL.
I, personally, would rather just eat a bowl of cereal moat nights, and I did quite often before my Dad moved in and the kids came home. Now I actually have to cook real food.

One DS started eating frozen waffles (cooked) and a yogurt a while ago. He hasn't asked for cereal in a long time. He did say that he was eating cereal again because sometimes the dining facility's hot breakfast isn't something he wants.
The other DS was going through phases. Still does. Right now, he's back to the frozen waffle phase. Before that, he was eating Life cereal. He went through a Golden Graham phase before that.
Every now and then, DH or I will have a craving for cereal that can be snacked on. I've been wanting some apple cinnamon crunch Cheerios. I don't know if they even exist anymore. I should go wander down the cereal aisle.

I eat it as a dessert, husband eats it as a snack. One box for each of us (mine is a chocolate or Apple Jacks, his is whatever looks fun when I am at the store) and a box of cornflakes for mashed potatoes.

We have a box or two around as a treat, often eaten dry. I currently have a box of pumpkin shredded wheat. I grew up on cereal, as a child of the 70s. But, after realizing how bad most are for you, even the good ones aren’t really good, I broke away from cereal. My kids did not grow up with breakfast cereal as an option. They may have occasionally had a small portion in their lunchbox as a sweet treat, but it was limited.

Cold cereal will always be a thing at my house. I love it. Same here. I eat a bowl for breakfast pretty much every single day but I like to change things up so I have a few different boxes open at a time. I also make a few variations of cereal treats so I keep a couple boxes on hand for that. I usually rotate between some kind of healthy cereal most days (Quaker Oat Squares, Frosted Mini Wheats, Fiber One, Wheat Chex) but every so often I get a wild hair and I want a bowl of something junky (usually Lucky Charms). My kid will ask for certain kinds of cereal (Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch or something similar) and then she will eat one bowl of it and the rest of the box gets stale because she chooses my old lady fiber cereal instead. More often than not though, she wants to eat some kind of eggs which is usually what DH eats.

Ds20 never got the hang of cold cereal. Dh eats a mix of Honey Bunches of Oats and Special K Red Berries with about a tablespoon of creamer.
I love cereal! I have my usual muesli with a lot of milk and occasionally I'll buy a box of some yummy sugar cereal. I just bought a box of Cap'n Crunch with Berries. Yummy yum yum!
