Biden should do some psa type things with real Brandons. Maybe a Brandon who started an innovative business. Or a Brandon recovering from cancer. Or a Brandon who volunteers for any one of the important issues we face, like the environment, helping the homeless, meals on wheels, or the like. Just a quickie mini interview ending with that phrase. After about ten such pieces, I’d say the words were neutralized.

Ummmm, because the whole thing started with people chanting Fuck Joe Biden at sports events. Yeah, but it didn’t become Let’s Go Brandon until NASCAR. Fuck Joe Biden has been chanted at numerous sporting events. (I also saw a poll on the NBC Nightly News that says 71% of Americans polled believe we are headed in the wrong direction) It became Let’s go Brandon at the NASCAR race because the reporter interviewing the winner after the race claimed the crowd (chanting Fuck you Biden) was chanting Let’s go Brandon. Whether she misheard, or trying to cover up what the crowd was chanting is anyone’s guess.

Why are you posting under an anonymous name? I don't see anyone on that other than entertainers and sports fans. I don't have a problem with that. I didn't have a problem with rando people shouting Let's Go Brandon. But a pilot on duty? That's a whole other thing. Southwest gets to decide whether to discipline him, and I get to decide if I fly Southwest.

I didn't have a problem with rando people shouting Let's Go Brandon. But a pilot on duty? That's a whole other thing. Southwest gets to decide whether to discipline him, and I get to decide if I fly Southwest. This. Due to the nature of my job, I know, even though it has never been told to me, that I need to be careful about what I post publicly. I read a lot of political articles on Facebook and I see all manner of comments I'd like to reply to. But with the nature of my job, I don't. This is where I call into question people's judgment, including this pilot. I know I have to be careful even off duty about the way I share my opinions. I can't imagine being on duty and sharing my opinions and I don't even work with the public. Do I want him to be fired? No, I don't. But I want him to have meaningful consequences. I want everyone to have meaningful consequences when they cross the line because we, as a society, seem to have lost a bit of good judgment. Clearly people can see that the line got crossed with our last president, can't you? And I'm not saying that it is one-sided, as I see a lot of inappropriate behavior period. But there seems to be a lost sense of decorum, in general. And it's definitely inappropriate for the workplace. I also agree with @zingermack that human rights issues are not political issues. My gay, black, transgender, etc. coworkers deserve to be supported in the workplace and society. I'm exhausted by the idea that their very existence is somehow offensive to people. But then again, I work in an inclusive environment that does anti-bias training. We are attempting to make everyone feel welcome in our workplace by addressing how we interact with each other. I have absolutely no doubt that if I said to any of them (not even the public), let's go, Brandon, I would face serious consequences. When did people lose the ability to discern what is appropriate, kind, and inclusive?

What does "Let's go Brandon" mean? I've been seeing it on social media comments but don't know what the context is. I have no idea what it means either. I would shrug my shoulders and go "huh?" if anyone said it to me. The pilot needs to keep his personal feelings out of his job and needs to be written up or even fired.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let's_Go_Brandon My brother’s wife posted a pic of herself proudly wearing a T-shirt with this on the front, thinking she was so clever. I had to unfollow her. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, but I don’t have to subject myself to hatefulness. Oh my gosh. She sounds like a real treat. Who are these people who BUY shirts like that? Good gravy. Some folks will do anything to "belong" to a team, I guess.I'm old enough to remember who those people were that would not only buy message clothing like that, but thousands of people were making those PUSSY HATS for anyone that wanted one. As you said, some folks will do anything to "belong" to a team, I guess.

The bright color was to make a visible statement. That’s a bit different than adorning yourself and every item you own with your cult slogans and/or cult-leader’s name every freaking day of the year.

I don’t think women wearing a pink hat to a match for women’s rights is even remotely the same as people taking every chance they get to say “fuck Biden”—whether on their shirts, houses, cars, at sporting events, etc. Where are the republicans who said that people needed to respect the office of the president? And yes, the pink hats were a response to Trump’s attacks on women. Biden has not been disrespectful to any group or person. People may not agree politically, but this behavior is completely unacceptable. That republicans are not only joining in but defending it is just another thing to cement my views of their values.

A bit different from a pilot, at work, announcing his disdain for the President over the intercom to a plane full of passengers who had not asked to hear his opinions.

And they were a big fuck you to Donald Trump. Let’s not forget that. So, it's not OK to say "Fuck YOU" to people who believe it's OK to grab you by the PUSSY? But it IS OK to say "Fuck YOU" (in code) to a President who is trying to rebuild your country?
Or it's equally OK in both cases? Or it's not OK in both cases?
Do you understand false equivalence at all?

I was answering sockmonkey's question. "Who are these people who BUY shirts like that? Good gravy. Some folks will do anything to "belong" to a team, I guess." She spoke as if republican's were the only ones who wore coded "fuck you president" clothing. That's not defending it, it's simply saying that it isn't only coming from one party as is being insinuated.

The Let's Go Brandon thing throws me off every time because I spent the last 4 years legitimately hearing "Let's Go Brandon" at every football game. When I saw this posted on FB with my DD's old high school pictured (where she will be joining the band as an alumnae player this week), I thought it was a spoof and went and checked for myself. The joke is on DTJ though - our 6A schools were required to move their last regular game of the season to Thursday night this year for some random reason.

Time to tax some churches. Then those funds could be used to do things Jesus taught like caring for the least of these in our communities.

And they were a big fuck you to Donald Trump. Let’s not forget that. They were cat eared hats. Donald Trump said "f you" to women when he said liked to grab them there. As a woman, possibly a mother or sister, are you good with that? I'd asked you this question before and you never answered me. I agree with you though. Definitely let's not forget that. I ask you again, Pixie. Are you okay with DT saying that? Did you think it was funny or harmless? Do you think any less of him for saying that vulgar and crass and horrible thing that he admits he does? I'm asking you respectully and not calling you names. I'd appreciate your thoughts on that. Thank you.

Thank you for asking kindly and respectfully that is TOO OFTEN not the case. Sorry your question got buried. That said, I'm also going to ask you a question, because it's one that I'm sure has plagued a lot of conservatives who've graced these boards, since it's a long standing line of thinking from the Left on here. And I really do mean it in the sincerest, most respectful way, because I honestly don't understand... Why do you think that pointing out that the assertion of only conservatives buy and wear "fuck you" articles of clothing isn't actually true... why does that make you think that I think what Trump said was okay? IF I were to follow the same line of logic you are using, I would then wonder if objecting to "fuck you" clothing on conservatives means that you're just fine with Biden leaving Americans and allies in Afghanistan at risk to be slaughtered by terrorists because of his incompetence. I ask you, respectfully, does that line of thinking on my hypothetical part make any sense to you? ETA: And please, don't anyone jump in to answer for her. This is a nice, civil conversation happening here, at least wait for her to respond before jumping in.

I can't understand why you have a problem with people gathering to protest him in the pink hats when you clearly understood his message and didn't like it either. I had assumed you were one of those that doesn't see anything wrong with Trump. I still can't understand why you still seem to support the man or the party that bends over to kiss his ass but okay. I think the disagreement here was the fact that its one thing to participate in an organized rally/protest/march and another to espouse "LGB" in places that aren't political rallies. I've seen footage of a well known church leader leading his congregation in this LGB chant. And the case of the pilot being completely unprofessional by announcing that over the intercom. I'd have been pretty offended and pissed if I were a passenger. If you/and those who dislike Biden didn't like how the withdrawel from Afghanistan was handled then you could have peacefully protested too. What I see now is videos of church leaders while IN THE HOUSE OF WORSHIP leading the chant "let's go Brandon". I don't like the way you worded me "being okay" with Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan. It didn't go perfectly but I never would expect it to. Its war, people die. How many lives have been saved now that we are out? IDK. Our military have been continually "slaughtered" there for what.. 20 years now? How many died under Trump's watch? If you posted in protest or anguish about it, I didn't see it so apologies there. It made me sad, but angry? No.
