I love this idea. 

This. Due to the nature of my job, I know, even though it has never been told to me, that I need to be careful about what I post publicly. I read a lot of political articles on Facebook and I see all manner of comments I'd like to reply to. But with the nature of my job, I don't. This is where I call into question people's judgment, including this pilot. I know I have to be careful even off duty about the way I share my opinions. I can't imagine being on duty and sharing my opinions and I don't even work with the public. Do I want him to be fired? No, I don't. But I want him to have meaningful consequences. I want everyone to have meaningful consequences when they cross the line because we, as a society, seem to have lost a bit of good judgment.

Clearly people can see that the line got crossed with our last president, can't you? And I'm not saying that it is one-sided, as I see a lot of inappropriate behavior period. But there seems to be a lost sense of decorum, in general. And it's definitely inappropriate for the workplace.

I also agree with @zingermack that human rights issues are not political issues. My gay, black, transgender, etc. coworkers deserve to be supported in the workplace and society. I'm exhausted by the idea that their very existence is somehow offensive to people. But then again, I work in an inclusive environment that does anti-bias training. We are attempting to make everyone feel welcome in our workplace by addressing how we interact with each other. I have absolutely no doubt that if I said to any of them (not even the public), let's go, Brandon, I would face serious consequences.

When did people lose the ability to discern what is appropriate, kind, and inclusive?

I'm old enough to remember who those people were that would not only buy message clothing like that, but thousands of people were making those PUSSY HATS for anyone that wanted one. As you said, some folks will do anything to "belong" to a team, I guess.

The hats were worn for one event as a show of solidarity and connectedness with each other. The bright color was to make a visible statement. That’s a bit different than adorning yourself and every item you own with your cult slogans and/or cult-leader’s name every freaking day of the year. 

Also, an entirely peaceful event. 

Brandon Stanton, the creator of Humans of New York would be a great candidate for this. Although I think he’s far too humble.

Yes they were. The difference is that none of those people were at work while wearing those hats. A bit different from a pilot, at work, announcing his disdain for the President over the intercom to a plane full of passengers who had not asked to hear his opinions.

That's not defending it, it's simply saying that it isn't only coming from one party as is being insinuated.

No, I'm not okay with him saying that and no, I don't think it was funny or harmless. Yes, I think it and he is vulgar and crass.

That said, I'm also going to ask you a question, because it's one that I'm sure has plagued a lot of conservatives who've graced these boards, since it's a long standing line of thinking from the Left on here. And I really do mean it in the sincerest, most respectful way, because I honestly don't understand...

Why do you think that pointing out that the assertion of only conservatives buy and wear "fuck you" articles of clothing isn't actually true... why does that make you think that I think what Trump said was okay?
IF I were to follow the same line of logic you are using, I would then wonder if objecting to "fuck you" clothing on conservatives means that you're just fine with Biden leaving Americans and allies in Afghanistan at risk to be slaughtered by terrorists because of his incompetence.

I ask you, respectfully, does that line of thinking on my hypothetical part make any sense to you?
