I'm going to guess it cracked prior to popping out because the dental floss sent it flying! It's just next to my front teeth... Really noticeable. So far it doesn't hurt, but it's a little sensitive. Hoping my dentist can get me in tomorrow!
Jeez, this is going to be expensive!

Aww man that is awful. I would be really upset if that happened to me especially if I was flossing. Hope it turns out to be an easy & inexpensive fix! hugs.

Is it on the top? If so, it's WAY easier to cap/veneer those than the two front teeth. I chipped the back of one of my front teeth, and the dentist said that caps tend to not last too long because of the biting pressure on your front teeth. But I have veneers on my laterals (the tooth on either side of each front tooth) because mine were genetically small, and they're still going strong 20 years later.

Top, lateral I guess since it's next to my front tooth.

Aww, man - that sucks!
For the first 46 years of my life, I never had any dental problems, and only had a few minor fillings from childhood. I never even got wisdom teeth! In past 3 years, I've had 3 broken teeth, requiring 3 root canals, 3 crowns, and one root canal-retreat! No fun, and expensive!

I chipped my front tooth when I was 10 and I still have the veneer . It's really thin but I don't bite anything hard like apples - I slice apples, for example. My current dentist is amazed at how long the veneer has held. He says my parents got their money's worth out of that tooth. Good luck!

CRAP, that sucks! It sounds really painful, and right before a holiday to boot. I hope your dentist can get you in tomorrow, that is rough.

Is it really a piece of your tooth? I ask because DH had this happen years ago when he hadn't been to a dentist in eons (say about 10 yrs). He was convinced it was his tooth and saved the piece to take to the dentist. Turned out to be a chunk of tartar. Who knew tartar could be hard like tooth enamel.
Anyway, tooth issues suck, and tooth pain is the worst of all, so I hope it's not serious and you can get seen right away and get it cleared up. Having just dealt with a major "brought me to my knees crying for a week" tooth issue, I can tell you that for tooth pain, clove oil really does work (for me, it was better than all the major pain killers I was eventually prescribed).
Good luck.

Uh, I feel for you and hope your dentist can fit you in. I did the same thing about 20 years ago except mine broke off at the gum line. I was mortified! I was at my sister's birthday party and spent the rest of the day with my hand over my snaggle-tooth mouth! Awful experience. Yours should be a relatively routine fix. Good luck!

That happened to me too. The dentist didn't look like she believed I was flossing and not biting hard candy or something.

I cracked a tooth eating a homemade piece of multigrain bread ![](http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m107/scrapmolly/crazy_zps411d6920.gif) I ended up having to have the remaining parts removed and have an implant put in ... it cost a pretty penny ![](http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m107/scrapmolly/mad_zps390f72f9.gif) Leanne

It was definetly tooth. Literally half of it. started at the bottom middle and curve to the outside just before the gumline. So thankfully the root isn't cracked. Best guess is that DD got me with her head about 2 weeks ago amd it's just been gradually moving up. Dentist put in some sealer and then a temp filling. Temp filling lasted all of 4 hours. I have an apt for crown prep next Thursday.
I'm alternating between Tylenol and advil but find if I just don't talk it doesn't start to throb. It got me out of having to go to the inlaws for a cookout tonight b/c it was hurting, so they all decided to just come over. Yeah.
I threw that dental floss out and went to 3 pharmacies today to find my favorite kind.
I really am not going to enjoy looking thoroughly redneck for a week. My new sunscreen broke my face out and now this, people are likely to think i'm on meth. yeah.
I do appreciate the thoughts and sympathy. You've been far more sympathetic than my husband.

Oh, no! When I was on vacation and right in the middle of it, my tooth fell off. Really. From a alice of pumpkin bread from Starbucks. It was the crown and good thing I didn't swallow it as I can't see waiting for it to reappear and rescue it. Fortunately, it was just far back enough that you could see a hole if I smiled big. Emailed my dentist and got an appointment first day back home and he glued it back on. Whew! I was afraid I'd need a new tooth so good thing I kept it.
Hope it's an easy fix and relatively not too expensive.

Oh man, I'm sorry. Dental stuff is $$$$ especially if you don't have dental insurance like me. Well, if it makes you feel any better, I have dental insurance and almost nothing is covered. Just twice a year cleanings/exams, one set of x-rays a year, and some percentage of silver (not clear) fillings. When I chipped the back of my tooth and went in to have that checked out (because I don't know what I'm supposed to do once it breaks, if it might break more, if it needs to be immediately filled, or what), the insurance company treated that as my second exam for the year. And then I got billed for the full price when I went in for my actual second one.

I had that happen a couple weeks ago. It was actually my crown I got about 13 years ago. Bad news because I have to have a whole new crown $900. Good news: I had a root canal in it, so no pain.
Hope they can get you in. I have a temp crown now driving me nuts.
Good luck.

I feel your pain. I broke a crown in half just a couple of months ago. I walked around looking pretty snaggle-toothed for a couple of days until I could get in to the dentist. Then I looked even more snaggle-toothed because they couldn't save even a little needle of my tooth to fit a new crown on because of some decay. They ended up pulling the tooth. Now I'm walking around with a big a$$ hole in my face til I can swing an implant.

You poor thing!! I'm impressed by your sense of humour between the tooth and the unexpected skin reaction. Hopefully you're all fixed up and back to normal soon.

Weird, coincidence, that happened to me yesterday whilst eating toast! I've got a great big hole between my teeth! Can't see my dentist till Monday so I think I'll stay home! I'm thinking there's lots of money and lots of work ahead :-( . Hope everything goes OK for you today at the dentists!
