... so you and your husband can have some afternoon private time before he leaves on a work trip this evening?
LOL. Her roommates don't get back until this evening so she's just sitting here, watching TV and eating our food.
She is here all the dang time so it's not like we don't see each other.

Hello Ms. Oblivious. You're ruining the romance. Good luck. Free food and free housing mean the world to a college student.

Say you have to run errands and then drive around the block?

Send her on a grocery run? Make up a list of random things that will take some time for her to find.

We had the same problem every weekend last year. This year my DD has a full time job in her college town.

Give her tickets to a movie and money for snacks.

Yes, send her on a basement of the Alamo type errand.

Truthfully? DH told DS1 he was the biggest 'c_ckblocker' there ever was. He got the message. ROFL Crude and rude, yes. Did it work? Also yes.

My college student basically never leaves the house when home, so let me know when you figure it out.

I think you should tell her you and her dad want to be alone and she should take a hike (literally).

"Do you need to leave soon or do you have time to clean the kitchen?" And then put on some loud music. Nickelback works extremely well at getting DD to vacate the premises!

"Do you need to leave soon or do you have time to clean the kitchen?" Yep - ask her to help you clean the house since she doesn't have anything to do!

Y’all are too funny. I went and took a shower and she left during that time. DH is now running an errand - not sure if he said something to her first!

When I was a kid, one of my best friend’s parents would sometimes like to escape upstairs to their room in the afternoon - they would always blare Whitney Houston’s “And I…..will always love youuuuuuuu” when they were busy in their room so anytime you heard that song start up it was time to skedaddle lol

Lots of great ideas!
Our college son graduates in 3 weeks and will be returning home. I am not ready. The four months he was gone flew by. I am not ready for extra dishes, stomping feet, empty tissue boxes and TP rolls, and heavy sighs every time I tell him something remotely mom-ish (like you know, put your dishes in the dishwasher).
He'll have a computer science degree, so we are hoping a job offer comes really quickly.

He will take his boards in January and then can get a job. It is such an adjustment when they leave and when they come back!

Put on the nom chicks wow wow music, take your hubby by the hand and walk right past her and give her a coy little wink while flirty with hubby.
You’ll probably get an “OH MY GOD GROSS!!!”
OR…can you send her on an errand?

I mean, I didn't say we were parents of the year. And Ds1 was in college and was seriously not taking hints.

I'm a tad jealous. My freshman dd is never home. She's always out with friends. She had been out with friends most of the week, but all her friends at non-local schools went back yesterday or this morning, and her local friends/roommates hadn’t returned yet. But also I’ll be attending her concert tomorrow night and she’ll be back next weekend to help decorate the tree. We see a lot of her.
