A local hospital here just brought back their mobile trailer morgue and it’s sitting right out in front. This made me gasp - seeing the trailers outside the hospitals and funeral homes was one of the daily horrors of 2020. I do not want to go back to that! I am so worried about the hospitals. I have a family member who is hospitalized (not covid), and I'm praying the hospitals have the beds and staff to keep him safe. DS's school told all families to be prepared "in case" they need to start back remotely in January. They had multiple positive cases this week, all but one were vaccinated (kids and adults). So glad we're on break as of this afternoon!

Omg. I’m so sorry for your vaccinated co-workers, especially the pregnant one. I hope beyond hope that they all have mild cases and quick recoveries.

I feel so bad for the fully vaccinated that get covid. I am glad the pregnant teacher has the protection of the vaccination.

Oh god. If I were your pregnant colleague I don’t know how I could ever be civil to my unvaccinated colleague again.

Oh god. If I were your pregnant colleague I don’t know how I could ever be civil to my unvaccinated colleague again. Yeah, things are going to be tense around school in January. Also found out today that the unvaccinated colleague and her husband were both treated with monoclonal antibodies this week. Why take a $25 prevention when a $25K cure at taxpayer expense is available, amiright? I’m really trying to be sympathetic to individuals who have been duped by right-wing vaccine hysteria and save my rage for the people who knowingly duped them. It’s hard, though. In one sense they are victims, but in another, they’ve made the rest of us victims, too, and they had access to all the same information we did.

Another 4 cases today caught by our mandatory weekly testing yesterday (3 in TK and 1 in fifth grade).
The entire TK class will have to quarantine because, well, TKers are terrible at keeping masks on, and there's absolutely zero social distancing going on.
Fifth grade will have about 10 on quarantine, and another 5 with modified quarantine. The positive student was with me for about 45 minutes today, but am not considered a close contact. I tested after school and will test again on Monday morning.
We start winter break next Wednesday.

Monoclonal antibodies don’t work on Omicron. 🤷🏼♀️
