1/4 update CT tests are back on the portal - they're clear!!
12/30 update CT scan was today. No news until Monday. For the long version, see page 2.
12/27 update on DH - the polyp is positive for cancer-
Tuesday morning update: So the guy was supposed to come fix the washer this morning. The repair guys go to load the part we need on the truck only to find no part in the warehouse. Reach out to Samsung who says yeah we don't have it either. Hence we initiated the return process with them. No, we don't know when we're going to get the part to give it to you. The repair place called us, thankfully got DH who was calm when speaking to them, vs the screaming banshee I would have become had they gotten me, and he's on the phone with Costco, as Samsung wants to give us "store credit" presumably to the Samsung store which is a no way in he!! at this point from me. If they'll give us Costco credit I'm going to show up and say what do you have in stock and how fast can it be delivered to me.
As angry as I am however, I'm still out of my weekend funk.
OP starts here
Today begins week six, yes SIX with a broken washing machine.
It's new enough to be under warranty, and we've been fighting with the repair guys and now Samsung to get it fixed. They were supposed to be here 2 weeks ago, got a call saying they needed to reschedule and it got pushed to last Saturday. Saturday came and went no repairman. I spent the weekend sick as a dog from my covid booster, trying to feel grateful in my warm house with my heathy family but really really angry that I still had a broken washer.
Got a call first thing this morning from the repair place. Their dispatch had gone down over the weekend and none of their techs could get the info they needed to do scheduled repairs. They assured us someone would be here tomorrow to fix the washer. In the mean time DH is getting emails from Samsung trying to cancel the repair and send us a refund, which he's repeatedly sent back with a firm NO we want the repair. I'm ready to call the repair place and say I don't care if Samsung cancels it, we will pay you for the service call instead just come fix the darn thing.
DH has been having some potty issues, and as a result had a colonoscopy scheduled for today. The hospital "lost" his covid test and asked us to come in early for a rapid test. We checked in, they took DH back and handed me a beeper for when he was in recovery. The procedure took what felt like forever and of course I've been in a mood about the washer, about being asked to come early, my usual Christmas depression and the general incompetence of the world.
Got back to recovery and saw DH lying on the bed sleeping. In that moment I found gratitude I had been searching for all weekend. Doc came back and said they had found a large polyp that was likely causing the issues, but was fairly certain it was nothing more than a polyp. They will biopsy just to be sure, but he's not concerned at all. Wants to see DH in a year to make sure nothing more develops.
For someone who has spent the past few days trying to not wallow in the annoyance that is my broken appliance, this was the wakeup call I really needed to remind me how just how lucky we really are.
Just wanted to share.

I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow as it happens. (My second and not for any issues - just routine screening.) I love that seeing your husband resting and getting good news turned things around for you.
But I do hope you get the darned washer fixed. How annoying to get such a run-around!

This is everything. I am so happy for you. My beloved former husband passed away from colon cancer, I am still cleaning out his things. I hope everything else works out for you soon.

So glad he's okay!
And yes, that is sometimes what we need to put it all in perspective!
(but life without a washing machine isn't all that great either!)

That's awesome news!
I'm just wanted to mention not to not flat out turn down the refund from Samsung. My coworker had a 6 month old fridge that went. They were lucky enough to get several actual service calls...but the part to fix the fridge is not available anywhere and there is no idea when it might be available. As crappy as it is, they had to take a refund on a 6 month old fridge and buy a new one. (They did put the old one in the garage to fix as a beer fridge when the part does become available someday.)

My friend had a dryer that was just constantly getting repaired and the appliance store finally said "we're giving you your money back." They were losing money on the service calls.

Oh my! SO sorry you had to go thru all that! Take it from me, I bought a Samsung matching washer and dryer about 5 years ago. NO ONE will service them, even under warranty! I will NEVER buy another appliance thru Lowes... they can't make good on their warranties, and even had to give us all our warranty $$ back. I went without a dryer for 5 months while we battled it out. NEVER buy Samsung, they are the ugly stepchild of the appliance world. I now have a 7 year old Maytag bought second hand, and it is GREAT. Lesson learned...

Having lost both my parents I've spent a lot of time sitting with people I care about in recovery rooms of hospitals. I think seeing him in that position really brought home to me just how fragile all this really can be.

They definitely don't make appliances like they used to! I have a 3 year old washer that died mid-cycle. Would not do a hard reset, machine was locked with water and my favorite scrubs inside.
Googled the error codes and how to fix, says it's a temp sensing problem, needs repair, try a hard reset to unlock. Nothing.
So I Google further about how to take the washer apart from the top (not hard, but I had DH do it since he was by some miracle home when this happened) and he manually unlocked it and the error codes miraculously went away and it's good as new.
This is not the first time I've gotten error codes that were false, though this is a different washer. What a racket!
I'm glad your DH scope was ok. Mine just had his first one last week. He came out of the anesthesia so sweetly, lol. Like a little boy and the world was his friend. Aww 🥰

Tuesday morning update- I still have a broken washer. This has got to be getting old!! I hope you get a new (non-Samsung) washer by Christmas. Sometimes it's the non-glamorous things that mean a lot.

(hugs) Wishing you the best with everything going on! I had a moment like that the other day.
Sitting in the car the other day, taking a break from some shopping, while my husband was talking to his old boss, I realized again how grateful I am how everything turned out (also something medical that was just something that was super easily cleared up via antibiotics) and just in general, how happy I am that I am married to my best friend.

Oh that's horrible service. It's from Costco, load it uo and take it back to them and get something else from there.

I've had two different repairmen (that I trust) say that Samsung makes good TVs and phones--nothing else!
I have a Samsung washer and dryer. The washer died after about five years and couldn't be fixed.
Unfortunately I bought another Samsung to replace it because it pretty much matched our dryer. Our dryer is fine and there was no need to replace it.
"Luckily" this happened mid 2020 before the supply issues.

Basically Costco said it's past the 90 day return window, there's nothing we can do you need to take it up with Samsung. DH called Samsung and was told the return call time was 9 hours. He put his number in and we'll go from there.
We did buy an LG from Costco this morning. It's more than I need, but it was in stock and I'm hopeful will be here before Christmas.

Never ever buy appliances from Samsung. My bff worlds for a major home improvement store and they are the absolute worst company to deal with. Just keep on them until you get the result you want, either a fixed machine, a new machine, or cash back. Don’t take a credit because they have a serious supply shortage right now, like months for new products to come in.

12/27 update DH got the pathology report back. The polyp tested positive for cancer. He goes Thursday for a dye test on his pelvic area to see if it’s spread. If it hasn’t then another colonoscopy in Feb to make sure they got it all in the first round.
I’m in shock, but continue to be grateful that this was caught now, and happened b/c DH was having “potty issues” and not due to normal testing which would not have started until he turns 50 - he’s 48.
I’ll keep you all updated as to what they find Thursday. Prayer/positive energy appreciated.

Keeping y'all in my thoughts that they got it all.
Sorry for all the problems with Samsung. I had a Samsung refrigerator that failed and even though it was a few weeks after our warranty expired, they sent me a brand new one without prorating it. I was stunned.

Doc came back and said they had found a large polyp that was likely causing the issues, but was fairly certain it was nothing more than a polyp. They will biopsy just to be sure, but he's not concerned at all. Wants to see DH in a year to make sure nothing more develops. I'm sorry, and I hate hearing about doctors who do this. No person, no matter how long they've been a doctor can tell what any lump is just by looking at it - the only person who can do that is the trained histopathologist in the lab who cuts it open and looks at the cells under a microscope. The only thing they should ever say is they will have to wait until the report comes back and until then they can't speculate. I'm sorry you got the bad news after being reassured, that's not a fair thing to do to people. He'll now have more tests to determine what is going on with this cancer and hopefully it's been caught in the early stages and will be treatable/curable. Wishing you all the best for a good outcome.
