I’m sorry to hear the outcome is rather more serious than you were hoping for. I hope there has been no spread and that his prognosis is good.

So sorry about the positive results. Catching everything ASAP is the most important step of any cancer diagnosis, so I hope that this one is a swift fix! Hugs to you.

I'm sorry, and I hate hearing about doctors who do this. No person, no matter how long they've been a doctor can tell what any lump is just by looking at it - the only person who can do that is the trained histopathologist in the lab who cuts it open and looks at the cells under a microscope. The only thing they should ever say is they will have to wait until the report comes back and until then they can't speculate. I'm sorry you got the bad news after being reassured, that's not a fair thing to do to people. He'll now have more tests to determine what is going on with this cancer and hopefully it's been caught in the early stages and will be treatable/curable. Wishing you all the best for a good outcome. Thanks pjaye, I get your point, I really do. my mother, who after years of dealing with my dad's healthcare had zero trust in the medical system. Too many times the doctors reassured her, only to have to backtrack when things would go wrong. It led to her being very uncooperative when it was her turn to be patient.

12/30 update
Thank you all for the kind thoughts. CT scan was today. DH was able to drink the liquid while sitting with me in an open area of the building we were in. It's a really neat building designed as an alternative therapy center, that our hospital took over when the original owners went belly up. As a result, we were able to sit, isolated in a beautiful atrium while DH drank the dye liquid and we waited for it to take effect. Scans themselves were very quick. The nurse seemed to think we would not hear anything until Monday, with the holiday.
DH remains in good spirits, and I'm coming around. I was able to read the pathology report they posted to his patient portal, and the lymph nodes were clear. My understanding from both dealing with my dads cancer issues, as well as Dr. Google is that it's likely the tumor was caught early enough that once they confirm clean margins the treatment is monitoring. Of course this could all take a sharp left turn if the CT scan shows anything.
We have 2 appointments with the gastro in February, I think (DH took the call this morning, and between his nervousness over the test today and not eating has no idea what the first appointment is for) But I think that the first appt will be meeting with the gastro to go over the treatment plan. Second appointment is the one where they go in and make darn sure they have clean margins and they got all the cancer out.
I am neither a doctor, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but the colon cancer website had some great information on understanding treatment, and the various stages that this could be in. I am often wrong, yet never uncertain so we'll see what February brings.
Again, thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. I'll let you know when we get the CT results back.

OH and I almost forgot, the saga of the washer continues!
So Samsung gave us a cash refund for less than we paid for the washing machine, but a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.
After several hoops and waiting for Costco logistics to GET the washing machine themselves in order to get it to us, DH is finally able to schedule an install date.
Friday, January 7th. The yelling you hear from the midwest is me when they finally hook the thing up. EIGHT WEEKS after the original one died. I think I'm going to sit and watch it work once they get it installed. I may even have a glass of wine while it does it's thing.

1/4 CT results are clean! Got the results back on the patient portal and everything looks normal!!!!
Next step is appointment in February where they'll go back in and make sure they got clean margins. Once that happens then it's monitor and yearly colonoscopies to catch anything that might be growing.
T minus 3 days until the new washing machine arrives!

Great update!
The Samsung saga is one I went through about 6 years ago. They refunded me also, but it took a while to get a new one delivered and installed. I had to go to our laundry room in our complex for weeks. Once we got the new one, I'd pat it every time I did laundry and say, "Thank you!" I know how you feel.
