The other is farm themed, but has lots of goats. I have several pages worth of photos of my kids at the zoo, petting the goats, and no stash to match. Petting lambs and goats is heavenly (if you don't mind their "delicate scent"). Those goat stickers sound adorable and a pretty rare find!

The pre order for the new Cocoa Vanilla line went up at my local online lss so I loaded up my cart and then added some other pre order things I would really like, some to fill gaps in my stash, some just because I really like it, but then I closed the window. I'm sure I'll forget it's there in a few days (as long as no one quotes this in this thread!!).

The algorithm recommended this video to me earlier tonight and I thought it would make a good share for this thread:

To keep myself accountable I thought I’d checked back in. So I went to the North Pole last month. They have internet there! who knew🤣🤦🏻♀️ I bought a much wanted poinsettia stamp, die and moulding set from Heartfelt Creations. I’ve wanted this for a long time so didn't hesitate to snap it up when I found it on Amazon. I also bought some Mineral paper to play with. And a book to read - fiction. A lot less than normal but not exactly the frozen look I was going for. See you next month!

I did a marathon photo printing session and managed to use up all my 4x6 photo paper and printer ink! I placed the $50 order on Amazon to replenish; and then promptly canceled the order. I have plenty of printed photos to scrap so I don’t need the supplies right now. I’ll wait until I’m actually ready to print again before placing that order!

I caved and bought a few new storage items for my Kallax and Raskog cart. I didn't spend too much and am so happy with my purchases. There is nothing like a good purge followed by a good reorganization to feed your soul!

Yesterday I spent $2 on two sheets of stickers that I wasn't looking for, but needed to have when I saw them.
Both are photo realistic. One is zoo animals. The other is farm animals. The farm animals sheet has four or five goats on it!! (For my mountain of petting zoo pics)

I ordered some dies that I feel like I "need" to finish a bunch of cards I want to donate. I had a gift card to cover half of the order and I get two coordinating sets (fall leaf dies in big and small sizes) so I think together they'll be really versatile. Could I have used my expensive cutting machine to cut a bunch of fall leaves? Yes, a person could do that, but I apparently am not that person. At least I got dies that I can use without stamping first so I'm more likely to actually use them right away (two step projects are just harder right now). I plan to run a bunch of different colors through with all the leaf dies and have a big pile of lovely embellishments to pick from

I broke down yesterday and ordered a few pieces of the VB Fernwood collection. I have some pics of my grandson when we’re we’re out in the woods on an adventure that it will work perfectly with. Not bad, I made it till Feb 16th to buy anything!

I think someone mentioned on this thread that they shop when they don't feel like creating as a way of staying connected to the hobby and I have to say after the last couple of weeks I completely agree. I haven't been creating as much lately, both a combination of lack of time and lack of motivation when I have the time, but I have been driving myself crazy thinking about things I want to buy. Thankfully I've stayed frozen although there have been a couple of moments I was ready to throw it all in and go shopping. It's been a challenging couple of weeks!

So far so good, I've stayed frozen all month so far and while I did spend a couple of times in January, I used GC for it. Chinagirl828 I've been fighting the same desire to shop the past couple of weeks and I do believe it's because I haven't been scrapping. I'm putting things in carts and on wish lists and reminding myself that if it's on sale right now, there will be another sale when I'm finished with my freeze. Which maybe be the end of the year at the rate I'm going lol.

I'm still in the freezer. Only the one Wink of Stella pen I mentioned up thread, and it was a replacing one that ran out.
ETA: Oops!, I did buy a pack of Silhouette Stencil Material. I've actually been using my machine to make stencils!

You know it really does help to unsubscribe from promotional emails when you are trying to save money. The temptation and FOMO just go away. After a while you begin to stop checking websites and wondering what you might be missing out on too. It feels so good to not be spending money on crap I didn't need in the 1st place. Although I'm sure my UPS driver and mailman are wondering what's going on LOL.

I had an interesting moment yesterday. My dies arrived and I decided to get them right out of their packaging and start cutting piles of fall leaves to finish off those cards right away. And I did, and it was fun. I made a giant pile of leaves in various colors and then added them to the unfinished looking cards. And then I had a moment where the air kind of went out of me and I thought wow, did a need to buy a durable supply that I'll keep forever for that small fairly unimportant project? (the seniors I donate cards to really won't care whether my card fronts feel a little unfinished without leaves). It was a lack I had created with my own thoughts. I think I will get good use out of the dies but I did rather wish there was some kind of crafty lending library I could've borrowed them from...
I was just reading Essentialism (which I had very mixed feelings about) and it got me thinking about how I have let myself be influenced by all the different cardmakers online. I browse and follow and before I know it I'm wanting to do complex coloring or mixed media or exquisite watercoloring even though those are things I had previously decided were not really my jam. I love some of the artsy things I've bought and made but wondering if I should've stuck to my main love - patterned paper and die cuts.
Much thinking going on over here.

rather wish there was some kind of crafty lending library I could've borrowed them from... I feel the same way. It would need to be local since postage would be expensive. Or maybe since we're all friends here "Hey does anyone have xxx stamp and dies that would be willing to stamp and cut some out and send to me?" Something to think about.

I have been chewing over minimalism and overconsumption for years with this hobby. It is hard! I recently had a come to Jesus meeting with myself over the size of my scrap stash. And am finishing my paper reorg I started last year. And really NEVER need to buy anymore paper! Just some card stock. And the plastic……..so much plastic. It kind of turns my stomach seeing how much I will be putting in a landfill. I think I am committing to not buying collection packs…trying to shop single sheet and secondhand going forward. Which scares me a little with FOMO but, seriously, I don’t ever need to buy paper again!! 😳😅

It’s ridiculous how much I’ve accumulated through scrappy purchases. I switched to buying single sheet rather than collections thinking the same as you - and the online store places all the singles into a plastic bag. SMH

I switched to buying single sheet rather than collections thinking the same as you - and the online store places all the singles into a plastic bag. SMH That's so true, isn't it? I am lucky in that i have access to at least 2 in person scrappy stores, not counting big box and tons of thrift stores/online marketplaces for local meet ups where I feel like I could control that, maybe. I feel like there was one online store that did paper bags--but I can't remember who. I know when I bought the recycled Bazzill last year sometime, I was wondering how much of an impact buying it could really have with the shipping and plastic I got in the order and I'm sure it was sent to the place I bought it in plastic. But I also try to remind myself that any little bit is progress! Just think, if we'd bought full collection packs of even 2 collections that we bought single sheets from, we'd have all that extra plastic, extra coverpage paper, and paper we don't love that was manufactured and shipped and stuffing our spaces, and buying single sheet still avoids that! (Trying to convince myself, too, here!) <3 All we can do is our best.

The plastic is really bugging me too. I just got my first ever sub from Paper People was was amazed at how minimal her packaging is. Everything was in great shape with very limited plastic. So impressed.
I’m working on using up some old SS Disney stuff and an SS album I had in my stash for a gift Disney album and it feels great to be getting out stuff in hand to use up.
I have been less chilly than I hoped but I’ve also been using way more than normal.

SMH I’m glad they pack paper in a plastic bag - it keeps the paper I paid good money for from getting wet or damaged when the package is left out in the weather. Which has happened many times, and I’ve always been thankful for that plastic. Plus, I always reuse those bags. The thing that gets me is all the plastic associated with clear stamps - it’s surrounded by two sheets, slipped in a plastic baggie, then people buy a separate plastic pouch to store them in. Plus the paper card that comes in the stamp packaging.

Plus the paper card that comes in the stamp packaging. You know its a delicate balance, but here is my observation. 12x12 can easily get damaged, so using a cardboard insert and some kind of packaging (usually a large ziplock taped up) makes sense to avoid damage - I see ACOT and SBK.com do this and it definitely minimizes damage. But you don't need to package EVERYTHING, so when I got my PP sub, the puffy stickers, letter stickers, stamps and 6x8 - 3x4 cards were all in ONE paper bag. They did not each need individual plastic wrap because the overall packaging was enough. And I have to think this also helps on cost reduction, but I can imagine that assessing the risk of less packaging vs damage is not a small thing when the costs are only going up for consumers.

I started saving all the plastic packaging a year or two ago with the intention to reuse. I re-use some of my plastic bags when I give small things away on my local Buy Nothing group. And Prairie Paper and Ink re-uses the plastic packaging to make edge to edge flat shaker cards playlist link which both re-uses the plastic for something fun and prevents buying specialized flat shaker pouches which are now available to buy (probably shipped in a plastic bag. I’m glad they pack paper in a plastic bag - it keeps the paper I paid good money for from getting wet or damaged when the package is left out in the weather. Definitely true. I keep and ship my handmade cards in plastic to protect them and there's really no better option (there is debate about whether using compostable plastics made from food crops and that will end up in landfill is actually worse than normal plastic). And to save plastic from open stock paper purchases online we'd be better off only buying in bulk which is what most people here are trying to avoid. But as you said, protecting plastic sheets of stamps is very unnecessary and is more about being able to hang them on display in a retail environment. I know when I bought the recycled Bazzill last year sometime, I was wondering how much of an impact buying it could really have with the shipping and plastic I got in the order and I'm sure it was sent to the place I bought it in plastic. It was almost certainly wrapped and shipped in plastic at some point. Almost everything we buy is. I used to work at a high end department store and spent a few terrible afternoons stripping dry cleaning-style plastic off a few hundred pairs of pants that had arrived that way from the manufacturer. Each pant encased individually. But given the number of times we dropped stock on the back room floor you probably wouldn't want it any other way - much worse, I think, to have to toss pants that got dirty and stained that no one will buy (but in truth aren't there enough pants to clad every human in the world already?). It's all a series of trade-offs and much of the worst of the waste happens much higher up the supply chain than we see.

Is anyone doing anything fun or different to shop their stash? Victoria Marie has a virtual crop going on this weekend and the theme is Rock a your Stash. I kind of wish I knew about it earlier because I could use some inspiration. I usually scrap a lot during winter but I’m in a scrappy dry spell right now.

Congrats on reaching three months frozen Elsabelle. I've been using some different (for me) strategies to dig into my stash lately: * I'm making a conscious effort to reach for manufacturers that no longer exist or product that has been in my stash for a long time. If I'm trying to decide between using BG and AC papers, I'll choose the BG. I'm also trying to reach for them when I do techniques that weren't a thing when they were around, like using cut files. * I made page kits using my scraps for photos that are already printed. I saw a post from Jen Schow saying she was going to do some stash busting content soon (maybe March - I think it was mentioned on an insta story), so perhaps she'll be able to provide some inspiration.
