I'm looking forward to it, I really enjoy Jen's stashbusting videos, she makes me want to dig into all the beautiful and precious things I own and get them onto pages. I'm hoping this year is no different!

I caved & bought 2 albums today. Citrus Twist is having a not quite perfect album sale. I’m really getting into TNs. I did my 1st as a DD last year. Since then I’ve been making pages but didn’t have anything to put them into. So I guess I can say I “needed” them. Heading back into the freezer.

Albums are one of my few exceptions as I do consider them a need, although I stockpiled everything I thought I'd need for my projects this year towards the end of last year.

I’m struggling. So much for being frozen. Maybe should change it to ‘frosty’. In the month of February I put a deposit on a scrapbooking cruise for 2023! Yay me! Declined all enabler alerts to purchase supplies or classes. Yay me!

Overall, I’m spending MUCH LESS on crafty supplies. My best tactic is to really stop and think before I check out. Much of my basket or cart is created on impulse and I remove them.
I’m headed out of town for spring break and plan to visit several LSS in the area. I have given myself a generous budget because I have passed on lots of things I don’t need.

I am bummed, I am going to AZ for work and I thought, ok, that is going to be great, ALL the LLs's and there is one, and I don't even think I can get to it without a rental car, the Uber price quote from my hotel to there was 72 dollars.

I haven't spent any other money on scrappy stuff besides that one small Studio Calico I mentioned in this thread earlier this year. I managed to find a Happy Planner to use to document these bizarre war days in Europe for zero euros so I'm just cruising for now. I was just chilling but it looks like I'm mostly frozen. Not complaining!

kmage I know how you feel! We used to go to AZ every winter. There were two great stores in Tucson, one in Green Valley, and one in Phoenix. I have been frozen, but did make some purchases on the MME site this morning.

I'm being manipulated by some shop rewards points that will expire if I don't spend them or buy more to reactivate them. I don't have enough to actually spend at this point. I went to look for specific things they do well and OMG they charge SO MUCH for cover plate dies! I felt sick to think I might've spent that much on the ones I already have. Were they cheaper back then, did I get them on sale, or did I justify it because it was a business expense? ugh. They're nice dies but some are almost $40.
I think if they do manipulate me into shopping I will just buy a stencil or two and only if the shipping is realistic. Otherwise I will "lose" the rewards I never particularly wanted anyway and be just fine. If I'm primarily making cards for charity it doesn't matter if every single one uses the same happy birthday stamp or die. I have enough.
ETA: turned out I did have enough points to get $5 off, but the lowest shipping cost was almost $8 and I just couldn't stomach spending that much just to save/use my reward, especially not for things I don't need.

I warmed a bit from my chill last night. I was purchasing the new Cocoa Vanilla as birthday gift for my mom and picked up Simple Stories Full Bloom for myself. It was a line that I had planned on buying parts of, but my LSS only had it as a collection pack, so I am going to be really disciplined and make sure that I make good use of it. My chill is to make sure that overall my stash gets smaller by using more than I buy, so I guess I have to do some scrapping!

It seems that filling a cart at MFT and going as far as checking the shipping costs and looking at the total with my rewards discount was enough to "reactivate" my points so now they're good until 2023! Whatever. Yay! No money spent, no rewards "lost"

I was doing some scrappy inventory this weekend and it struck me that what I have so much of is paper. So.much.paper. Like never need to buy another 12x12 sheet of paper. I know a lot of us are there. However I don't have so many embellishments. So I think that I am going to (when I feel like I want to shop) focus solely on embellishments for now.

I am not shopping for them right now (although I do have a PC order on the way) but when I do shop, it will be embellishments only. Only! (speaking sternly to myself) Also, is anyone else struggling with today being the last day of the Citrus Twist album sale? I have 3 in my cart...but do I *need* them? Not really.

After my epic fall from the frozen wagon, I am firmly in the freezer now. It's amazing how organizing can kill the desire to shop

I used to buy a ton of paper, and my LSS either sold out of, or didn't order many embellishments so I have tons and tons of paper, but fewer embellishments. I like to layer, so those are important to my process. I'm having some success this year by buying embellishments (and a few sheets of paper here and there) when they go with my existing stash and help me use it. I bought some fun summer embellishments earlier this year and it helped me to get through a bunch of my old Chatterbox stash. It was very satisfying scrapbooking because that old paper was weighing on me. Good luck breathing life into your stash with some fun new embellishments!

I am feeling foolish after breaking down and ordering some more "must have" items. Firstly, the Tim Holtz splatter brush- Ive seen so many people use this online and figured it was an essential tool. Just unpacked it to find it really isn't Its not anything I couldn't use a regular paintbrush for. Secondly, an expensive tub of Altenew embossing paste- turns out it is EXACTLY the same as my old tube of modelling paste that cost 1/4 of the price and I already owned. I need to learn to back away from the cart..... Any one else relate? What were your "essential" purchases that turned out to be not so essential after all?

I have tossed out so much dried up mixed media that was going to be essential and I just had to have (in all the colours!). I am trying to be more realistic about how I actually scrapbook and what I need to buy vs. what can stay on the shelf. I have some other gems too...the Basic Grey Notch Tool, the Tim Holtz marker spritzer, alcohol lift ink, and a whole set up for using ultra thick embossing enamel. I'm sure there are more that I just can't remember...or don't want to think about. Don't feel bad about it...we've all done it

kiwikate, I echo what infochick said. I have/had a bunch of must have crap that I was like, "Whaaaaaaaa...why did I spend money one this?" First, ALL the TH Grungeboard. Yup, I was going to be the grungy mini-book queen. I hate that crap, it feels weird, I don't like the results, it was soooo freaking expensive. All donated to GW. Also (in no particular order): MM paint, it all dried up Goobers (they had huge flowers on them) These sparkle paint markers, I am still trying to use them and I loathe the colors I got, plus I find them super hard to work with www.crafterscompanion.com/spectrum-noir-sparkle-3pk-glitz-and-glamour.htmlStupid foam letter stamps A very very expensive crop in style backpack. A BACKPACK!! WTH was that even for. I am sure there is a ton more..oh yes, the scorepal. I have no freaking idea how to work it. Looks like math to me. Can you return or exchange any of your purchases?

A very very expensive crop in style backpack. A BACKPACK!! WTH was that even for. I almost bought this too!!! I was sure it was going to be so useful. The only thing that saved me was that my LSS only had one, and somebody snapped it up before me. In hindsight I cannot imagine what I thought I would ever use it for.

Selphy printing paper + dye sheet cartridges pack is on offer on Amazon France so I jumped on it! Also got my Selphy printer a case from AliExpress because I'm over the whole "where is the paper tray?" search. And my dry, dusty climate is also not being kind to my printer. We had Sahara sand flying in from North Africa this week and I'm over having to run brushes through and vacuum my exposed electronics. I'm considering these 2 essential purchases. Selphy paper + dye sheet cartridges for 108 photos: 23,01€ (free shipping) Selphy printer case + AliExpress Saver Shipping: 7,09€ (if anyone is interested, this is it) 2022 scrappy total so far: 48,50€ ($53.16) (shipping included)

Yesterday I put some stuff in my cart on acot and then just left it so I could think about it. Later in the day I was looking through my Simple Stories and Maggie Holmes stash and thought so help me if you buy one more thing to stuff into this space…
It’s been 16 weeks since my last purchase and I’m doing just fine. I meant to try to reach 10 weeks but when I got to that point there wasn’t really anything I had to have. Maybe I’m just frozen out of lethargy. 😆

I'm still frozen as well. I'm nearly done with my 50 layouts before spending, and I have a cart full of stuff at sb.com but no real desire to actually buy it yet. I'd like an ink colour or two that I've frequently wished I owned over the last three or four months, so I might head to a local-ish store that is geared towards card making but will likely have the ink I want once I'm done with my freeze.
