When I was a kid, we had a ritual of putting up the tree on Christmas Eve and then taking it down New Years' Day.
Now the tree usually goes up the first weekend in December, and stays up until at least after January 6th (which is Christmas on the Gregorian calendar, and we call it Ukrainian Christmas). That was the day my dh's family celebrated their Christmas when he was a child. It comes down after that, usually after the 14th of January, depending on what else is going on.
The house always feels pretty bare after the tree and other Christmas decor gets stored away. It is so dark here this time of year, and the lights cheer us up a bit.

We take ours down the weekend after Ukrainian Christmas. We wait to put the tree up until about a week before Christmas and enjoy how pretty it is until we celebrate our second Christmas.

I love everything about Christmas but when it’s over, I am done. I usually start putting it away the day after Christmas. This year we are leaving on a trip on Wednesday and I didn’t think I would get them down before we left but I made a pretty good dent in it today. The trees are all down and a lot of the decorations. I will have to finish when we get back. The outside stuff will have to wait until we get back too but I have all that in smart plugs and will turn them off so they won’t run while we are gone.
I like to start the new year fresh.

I can’t get the house Un-decorated fast enough! But we are on vacation so I paid my daughter to un-decorate. Paying her a little $$ and I get to come home to a Christmas free house. Win win!

The fact that our tradition is to leave them up through the 12 days of Christmas, but that suits me because it is an ordeal to take it all down and put it away. So it works well for me to have the extra time to enjoy what took awhile to put up and time to put it away. If I had one of those get it all put away by New Years traditions I would be so stressed. I would be stressed AND depressed. I'm always so sad to see live trees left at the curb on Christmas night. Though I understand that when people put up live trees really early, it becomes a safety hazard to keep them up. My parents do a live tree, and theirs never goes up until around Dec. 15. That way, they can leave it up until New Year's Day without the worry of creating a fire hazard. In our case, it's an artificial tree so no safety hazards involved. But I typically put things up within 10 days of Christmas, so I love to leave them up well into January. It seemed to me last year that many people left outdoor lights up longer than usual. Helped to beat the COVID "bleak mid winter." I loved it! <3

Mine is not taken down per a specific date. It’s just when I have the time or am motivated enough to do it. This is me too. I needed an Oprah option because none of the others fit. Sometimes it comes down right after Christmas and other times it’s up for a couple weeks after. Generally, the earlier it goes up the more eager I am to get it all put away s right after Christmas. This year we didn’t put up the tree until around the 15th so I’m okay with it staying up for a little while yet. I will put away the stockings and holders and some of that stuff though. ETA: The outside lights on the house stay up all year because no one is inclined to get up on a high ladder twice a year to put them on and take them off. We got lights that can be either all white, multicolored or alternating a couple years ago. Before Christmas we turn them on white around Thanksgiving, switch to multicolor for December through the beginning of January, and then back to white only for the duration of the winter. I hate how dark the outside of our house is at night during the winter months. The laser light show lights stay out there until we get get them out of the snow but we unplug them after Christmas.

I would like to take it down but dh has grown to love the decorations being up longer every year. I'll probably start secretly taking it down when he's not looking after new years, so he doesn't notice as much lol. He's like a little kid at Christmas, so I don't want to spoil the magic...I'm totally serious.

We usually do it on Epiphany, as it's a holiday here, so plenty of time.

Ours didn't go up as early as usual but they will be coming down on the 6th.
Didn't really feel the Christmas joy this year at all. Had a nice day with DD, SIL and 3 grandies but usually I just love the pre-Christmas shopping, gift buying and everything else. For some reason not this year. Hopefully 2022 will be a better year.

Usually the next weekend after New Years. We do leave the lights up till the end of January and switch them to white (easy to switch with a button).

I took mine down yesterday after work. This year I bought a 4.5 foot tree instead of my 7.5 foot one. I'm the only one that cares if it's up or not and the big tree was just getting to be too much. So it was just the new little tree this year and then I decorated my hutch. It's nice to have everything back to normal and so empty in here. There is some sort of decor out for the seasons from April to December pretty much. Plus with tax season starting in just days for us, I need to get as much stuff done as possible.

I would have taken mine down yesterday, but DS asked if we could leave it up until after the new year. Which is fine because I ordered some new ornament storage boxes that won't arrive until later this week.

Indoor decor and tree are down by my sister's choice. I usually left everything up until New Years Day.

Another that it depends on the year. Now that I'm single and the kids are all grown and rarely here the decorating and undecorating all falls to me so I kept it really minimal (and started super late putting it up) this year. I wouldn't mind taking it all down today, but oldest kid who lives with me just mentioned how sad it was that everyone seemed to be taking their decorations down already so I guess I have to wait. Probably by New Years Day. My birthday is on Epiphany so it'll definitely be gone before then.

Tree is down and packed away as of yesterday.
The outside lights will come down probably tomorrow. Our temperatures have been low, but we have had almost constant rain since Christmas Day.

I would be stressed AND depressed. I know what you mean very well. When I was a very little girl the tree went up Christmas Eve and down after the 6th. But one Christmas my dad was drunk and fell into the tree Christmas Eve leaving my mom to decorate it and do everything, so she started having it up a week earlier. I bet my siblings don't even know that's why but I remember it as the oldest. It would be funny to hear how some family traditions evolved and would we keep doing it if we knew? I think my age reflects it but I am more of a celebrate after as well as before. I hate having everything up in November and down days later. Interestingly my one son on leaves his little tree up all year and the other leaves it up through the 6th like me. We all have fake trees. But my mom's tree is real, she gets it around the 15th and takes it down after the 6th. If I could change one thing about how other people celebrate, which is totally not my business or in my control, I would bring back an emphasis on the 12 Days of Christmas and have celebrations all through them. Christmas parties would be during that not not before during Advent. I am not particularly religious and I appreciate the pagan origins of many traditions, but it seems like the season got hijacked by the retail industry and we went along with it happily because we love it so much. At least if it got moved back to the 12 days I wouldn't have to be assaulted by Valentines stuff while mu Christmas stuff is still front and center.

None of those options. Ours come down sometime before the 6th of January, depending on which day of the week it falls. This year it will be on the 6th itself because that's my day off.

They always come down dec 26,27,or 28th. I put stuff up around Dec 13-15 and I’m done with it by 12-26. It’s only up right now bec we have covid and don’t have the energy to do it. But tomorrow is the day! I felt better today, so assume I will tomorrow as well and now I’m ready to de-Christmas my house. Seeing Christmas decorations up past New Year’s Day makes me twitchy. 😄

I leave them up for as long as I can. Usually when the tree is so droopy it looks sad. I take down the Santa and obviously Christmas stuff but leave other winter-y items up since it is still cold here.

Well, the tree is down and ready for trash day tomorrow. I didn’t want it in the house for another week. Our trash service will pick up trees only for two weeks. The lights on the house are still up though. Looks like we will have rain through Friday, so the lights will have to wait until the weekend.

I put mine up really late for me this year- mid December, so I’m still enjoying the tree. Last year I left the tree up longer because I was feeling down after the tough year we all had, so the tree was up until about 10th January . Normally I take it down 6th night .

We will likely take it down the 2nd Sunday in January, which is the 9th. My oldest starts their 2nd semester on the 10th, so that leaves it up for almost their entire break, as well as for both the Epiphany and for Orthodox Christmas.

The trees usually come down a day or two after Christmas. All other decorations are packed up early January. Outdoor lights stayed up but unplugged after New Year's. The first dry and above freezing day would have us packing up the lights. This year, there are no outdoor lights. The lights on the windows will come down next week.

Usually I take down the decorations the afternoon of January 1. This year our adult daughter spent the holidays with us but got snowed in and couldn't get back over the mountain pass so her stay was extended. I came home from work yesterday and she had completely undecorated and put everything away and put all my "normal" stuff back out. I was thrilled! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

Typically I take them down the 30 or 31st, as New Year’s we rotate hosting monks birthday between siblings.
This year I wasn’t feeling the holidays and DH made all the indoor ones disappear Tuesday.

I usually have all the stuff down by mid-January, which I know seems late but it takes me forever to get things put out and I like to enjoy as long as possible. This year though, I'm ready to get it down and packed away. I commented last week that I never even got around to putting most of the stuff out this year bc I'm hugely pregnant and exhausted, so since the house didn't get fully decorated per usual, I just want the stuff I did get out to be packed away now. Ready to clean and get ready for this wee bebe to arrive sometime in the next 9 weeks!
