Is anyone around and bored?
DH and DD is on their second bowl game and DS is playing video games in his room.
So I am by myself sitting upstairs watching Cold Case from 2003.
The massive fireworks booms started around 6. By 6:15 there were the sounds of gunfire mingled in.
We had Chinese food earlier this afternoon so I just indulged in a pice of cherry loaf with some marscapone cheese. Oh who am I kidding? The recipe may have said Cherry Loaf, but it's fruitcake.

Fireworks here too, but not legal. I can see them in the distance. Searchlights searching the sky from a local restaurant on the water. I guess even though COVID numbers are WAY UP here, people are still out partying.
I'm catching up on recorded shows (watching 911 right now) and surfing here. Dang puppy gets excited over hearing the fireworks and keeps wanting to go out. Grrr....

We are having our New Year's Eve tomorrow night. My 22 yr. old is a nurse and works days today and tomorrow. With a nurse in the family, we celebrate when the schedule works.

We went to Olive Garden at 2:30. Came home and both took a nap. DH is on his tablet and I'm on my phone. Happy New Year 🎉

It's half one in the morning here, the neighbour has been letting off fireworks intermittently and our dog is anxious. I'm playing classical music for pets, thanks to Amazon music, with the light on and stroking him, hopefully he'll settle soon.

I'm watching #Toast2021 on NBC. My neighbor and I each cooked parts of a dinner and exchanged half with each other for a complete meal. Big doings here!

I opted out of a NYE party with a few friends, it's outside but I wasn't feeling sociable this evening nor wanting to get stinky from the firepit. 🙂
Dh was cool with not going, he just got back from spending time with another friend, and I think his social quotient is filled for the day.
We also got our boosters yesterday, he's not feeling bad at all but my arm is swelling a bit and I have a raging headache starting so I'm looking forward to a quiet evening alone.

We just finished getting food ready and were listening to Andy & Anderson while people watching from the patio. I expect the neighborhood to show out tonight, we have a direct view of 5 restaurants that have djs and are open until 2am.
We were exposed to Covid and so were the neighbors so theyre coming over for games, drinks, and a smores bar with the indoor campfire the kids got us for Christmas. (We eat dinner every night with them)

Its only 8:30 pm here, so no fireworks - yet. But you can bet there will be. We have some neighbors that go really really crazy with fireworks whenever they get a chance.
I’m drinking a non-alcoholic eggnog and watching a episode of Castle from 2010. We ate dinner early and watched our grandson play hockey. He’s with his parents in Nashville for a 4 day youth hockey tournament. They broadcast it via Facebook so we watched him play using my iPad while we ate an early dinner.

We went to an early dinner. It was awesome and very NOT crowded at all. Very unlike NYE, but we’re glad it was like that. I had a French 75 before dinner and the best wine I’ve ever tasted with dinner, Now we’re home watching football and drinking water so we can have a cocktail at midnight. GO BLUE!

Not quite 7 pm here. We got our first snow of the year ND man we need the moisture, but it made the roads pretty slick.
I've been watching football all day

I was going to do a zoom with some crafty friends, but in the end, I didn't really feel like it. So I did some journaling about the last year and I think I'm going to cross stitch and watch some trashy TV to ring in the new year, lol. Sounds kind of sad typed out, but I need some quiet time, and DH works night shift.

It's an exciting night here in Northern Virginia. Dd came by earlier to give dh his Christmas gift which had been delayed in shipping. She had something to eat from the stuff I bought for dinner tonight, then she went back to her apartment. I had told her that if she came here to toast the new year she had to stay here overnight, because of all the drunk drivers out on the roads. She said she was too tired to make it to midnight anyway so she went home. She says she doesn't feel well so I sent her home with lots of food, and a home covid test. She's going to wait to take it till she sees how she feels tomorrow. So dh and I ate our usual NYE dinner of appetizers, dips, cut up veggies, etc. We watched the CNN year-end wrap-up until 7:30 when "Jeopardy" came on. We watched that (Amy won again!). Now dh is downstairs watching a football game and I'm here in my cozy chair watching "NCIS". I've started a binge from the very first episode. I'm in the 2nd season now. Before he went downstairs I said to dh "how about we toast the new year at 10:00?" lol. He agreed.

NYE is just an ordinary evening for us. We are trying to find our next series to watch together. Tried a comedy that I picked tonight and it was just too raunchy for me so the hunt continues.
I went to the gym today, made lunch, caught up with a friend on the phone and put the binding on an art quilt. I saw a couple of friends yesterday since I figured it would be a quiet weekend.

monklady123 DD and I have been huge NCIS fans for years. DH gets really mad if he is watching an episode and one of us walks in and within 5 seconds tell him the name of the episode, major twist and who the bad guy is. I know we shouldn't be mean, but it is really funny. The whole family can also do that trick (saying title of episode and plot) with West Wing as well, LOL.

Grandson’s Game 2 is now on FB. So many penalties. That’s youth hockey. It’s just after 9 and I’m starting to hear fireworks. It’s going to be a long noisy night. Ugh.

Hi everyone! Happy NYE!
I'm sitting, watching Peppa Pig with my two youngest kids, waiting for midnight.
Lots of fireworks & some gunshots going off. Hate that so much. People are morons.

We ran to grocery store for fruit and eggs!
We’re all laying low today, we all got boosters within the last 2 days, and while I’m good, it actually hit hubby hard (surprisingly so!) all he wants to do is nap!
So I’m going through a big stack of cooking magazines, mixed in with reading/perusing a few new books, rest are reading or napping were all together but quiet and doing our own thing together!
We made cauliflower crust crab pizza for dinner! Yum!
And hubby made himself a rum hot toddy and I’m drinking coffee with a big gulp of cinnamon rumchata🤣

Just hubby and I home - older teen kids are at sleepovers.
We have the twilight marathon on, hubby is building his porsche lego set and I'm going to play the sims for a bit. After our fire at the house a few weeks ago we are so grateful to BE and HAVE our home we didn't want to leave it!

Young kids made it to midnight with me, and I just tucked them in.
I'm waiting on my teen to get home from work before going to sleep myself.
Happy New Year Peas! You all are the best. May our 2022 hold bountiful blessings and infinite grace.

I was surprised that there were not fireworks all over last night like usual (several golf courses near us usually shoot them off after dark), but right at midnight we heard them for about 20 minutes.

I was surprised that there were not fireworks all over last night like usual (several golf courses near us usually shoot them off after dark), but right at midnight we heard them for about 20 minutes. Ours were going from 4 in the afternoon until at least 2 am. I feel so sorry for anyone in our area with PTSD or scared pets. I stayed up until 1:30 with the cats. Kept the TV on kind of loud to help drown out the noise, here we have the kinds that go up in the air and are really really loud.
