I went through one drawer yesterday and deleted two blouses. Not much "in the scheme" of things, but progress in the right direction.

tentoes.. I count one item out of my house as progress!! sometimes the little stuff adds up, or it inspires you to go whole hog..
telling my story here helps me realize I am making progress, I am doing something useful.. I couldn't put my new file upright by myself yesterday, today my cleaning lady and her dad were able to get it upright and in place!! I am hoping she is taking my old 2 drawer file cabinet. I even found the keys for it.. which have not been with the unit for 20 yrs.

Amazing to see all the progress everyone is making! Still nothing much going on here due to construction. The good news is they are running a bit ahead of schedule (a miracle!) and think they will be done by Labor Day! We will still be waiting on backsplash tile and appliances, but everything else will be done and my house will be free of workers!!! Once that happens things will come out of storage and the "fun" begins! There will be more to share at that point I'm sure. gypsygirl That is the BEST time to go through all your things and not put them back in the house unless you actually want them - I did this when we renovated bathrooms and got rid of so many old linens and medications etc and only brought in what I wanted to have in there. Some things donated, some thrown away, and some replaced with new as they were worn out. Now I’ve decluttered to such an extent it also means it’s a thousand times easier to clean and maintain. So excited for you for this next phase! Today I donated about 15 brand new, still in their original wrapping/plastic board games and craft kits to the school my kids go to so they can be raffled or sold at the fair/fete they have. Literally just gained back a whole shelf in the cupboard, no way we would ever use them. Off to new homes they go!

I emptied out every kitchen cabinet and drawer this weekend, and either tossed, added to the garage sale box, or reorganized back in the cabinets. My kitchen is so much more efficient now, and it all looks great. I would like to hire a cabinet maker to add some pull out drawers to a couple of my cabinets to make it even easier. I also have a built in wine rack that I would like to be converted back to a cabinet. I also need a better way to organize my spices and oils, but overall the kitchen looks fantastic!

I would like to hire a cabinet maker to add some pull out drawers to a couple of my cabinets to make it even easier. I also have a built in wine rack that I would like to be converted back to a cabinet. Worth every penny it costs! We already had all drawers in the kitchen lower cabinets before this remodel. Once they had all the doors off the living room bookshelves/cabinets, it dawned on me that drawers behind those doors was the perfect solution. The cabinets are 24" deep and ended up being a dumping ground. Now we will have easier access to all that space with an additional 6 drawers and 2 pull out shelves (short cabinets for electronics)! Drawers do cost a bit more in the beginning, but I figure with what we save on buying "solutions" after the fact to help organize cabinets, it's basically a wash on costs!

When we redid our kitchen several years ago we put in the cabinets with the pull out drawers and it was great. You will love them! The main kitchen cabinets have proper drawers. However, this is what I currently have in my Pantry and I love them. The same thing will go in my living cabinets. Pantry shelves and drawers. Same style drawers going into bookcases. Living room bookshelves: drawers going behind the left & right cabinets. Pull out shelves going behind those small doors under the center. The 3 small pull out shelves in the center have been converted to drawers with speaker cloth/mesh fronts (jury still out) to hold electronic equipment and DVDs. TV will be mounted on the wall instead of sitting on the shelf.

Struggling post-COVID. So minimal progress.
Helped DH clean out the fridge. There were items that had expired early 2021. 🙄
My son has been doing well with tossing things as they need to go. Not just his things, but household items. Now, if I could just get him to let some of the shoe boxes go. LOL!

We are going low carb for health reasons, per Dr. suggestion
Cleaned out the pantry and have tons of stuff to go to the food pantry.
This must be how some of you feel when you clean out your scrap rooms and think how much was spent.

worked on basement again, threw out big bag of garbage (cans went to curb today).. sorted through some misc bags.
and went out and bought a new dining table set!! the old one was nice, but all chairs were falling about and not good. I found one at our fav furniture store.. and it was 60% off.. so I jumped on it. so I have to figure out donating the table when the new one comes, and get a glass top for it. it is decluttering, as it hopefully will make the room look better, get some of my dh's stuff out of there when he gets back and have something more useable. right now, he keeps his big monitor on the dining table. I am not a fan.

I took off the rest of the recycling today. Been trying to use up old scrapbook rubons by making my own "patterned paper" using them and glitter mist I have left.
I have had to watch sheets multiple times already this week to be safe. Rudy (the dog my late aunt gave us) has been covered in seed ticks so I have watched sheets a lot. Have also vacuumed and sprayed tick/flea killer. Rudy is allergic to them which doesn't help. (I think they came from the bed that another aunt sent home with my parents the day they helped get Aunt Kathy's obit written).
I need to get things listed on eBay and stuff in booths. We are planning on setting up at an outdoor market so I need to get stuff gathered for it

How many times have you gone in there and opened the cabinet doors just to admire your handiwork? Lol.

Best thing I ever did in the kitchen was buy some large wooden boxes/crates (think 12”ish by 20”ish by 12”ish high) from a cheap homewares store and added screw on wheels to the bottom. I store them on the floor of the pantry cupboard underneath the lowest shelf (ie the place that’s impossible to reach and gets filled with junk etc). We use one when we open big multi bags of chips etc as we just dump all the remaining packets into it for the kids, who can easily access all the snacks without having to search or open (and then remember to close) boxes or containers. The second is the perfect size to store a whole cube of soft drink cans out of sight (but easy to roll out to grab one to put in the fridge) and the last one is a dark, dry place for our root vegetables to hide without rolling around everywhere. As they are wood they can handle the weight of the really heavy things we store in them, they are easy to remove when I need to clean the dust bunnies that hide behind them, and they make my minimalist heart happy as I don’t have a house full of brands screaming at me (I am one of those people who decants things into containers so I’m not visually attacked by branding when I open the cupboards).

I bought some new bras this week, so got rid of several of my older ones. I also got rid of 2 t-shirts and 2 blouses and 3 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of pajamas and one robe. I had two that were pretty identical. I had about 8 towels and decided they took up too much room in my closet, so reduced it to 4. (I live with my son's family, so only have to have enough for me.) I also got rid of a bag full of papers, old receipts, old cards, church bulletins, magazines, and some other "stuff" I didn't want anymore. All in all, it was a productive day so far.

Came home from work today to discover DH had taken the cardboard to recycling (over an hour round trip). Happy dance!
I share DH’s decluttering because we (inc. the Boy) are in this together.

it seems we're decluttering appliances by replacing them, sigh.
Since Jan 2021 - we've replaced the freezer, the fridge, the dishwasher, the dryer, the TV...and tomorrow we pick up the new washer (repairman today said repairs would be $500+/- and a new washer isn't that much more). I swear I'm wrapping the stove in bubble wrap, lol
actual organising? I've been spending hours on scanning and labelling.

We have hard rubbish this week so I'm finally able to get rid of our old lawnmower. We had no interest in the old tv cabinet so we moved that out to the nature strip today for collection this week. Also added the last of the packaging from the new tv we bought a couple of weeks ago, and an old venetian blind.

Had ds go through a couple of his boxes in the storage room. Many old toys (some broken) went in the garbage. Listed some items for sale and condensed two boxes down to one. Sent it along for him to put in his storage room.

For me the one issue with these older appliances is their electricity consumption… that being said we only just replaced our legacy fridge (handed down in a will to my hubby by his grandparents) last year and that thing was about 25 years old. And don’t get me started on the amount of room in the fridge and freezer I’ve lost due to the “upgrade”. Sigh. Just think of the power bill savings…

I’m way behind on reading the thread but wanted to post some small victories. DH finally decided he has too much junk he’ll never use. Think random wires, adapters, old textbooks, etc. He took 4 very large boxes out to the trash last week. I’ve been purging all kinds of stuff at work. Today, I tackled my email… I went from 1400 unread messages to 351. Over 7000 emails made it to the trash. And that was the regular inbox. Not the spam or promotions folders. My office/scrap room is next on the list. Paper has taken over again and I need to get my work files all back together so I can start getting my curriculum planning done.

I purged a bit from our panty. Stuff that just needed to go. I also pulled some items for a good drive. They will go tomorrow night. I also pulled about a laundry basket of clothes from my closet long overdue to be purged. I also bagged up 30 DVDs to go the the library store. Hoping to take them over later this week. They have been sitting in a plastic basket in the garage for years. I had intended to list them for sale as they are kids DVDs but I just want them gone at this point. I need to go through my bookcases and donate some books to but later.
