Just got new spice racks. My cabinet was a wreck, and now I have nice pretty slide-out spice racks. Yay! Which one did you get?

Then another wider one that holds all my oils. Not sure of the brand - just something that had good ratings on Amazon.

I just filled another black garbage bag of clothes from my closet. Most of it was stuff that is too small and I probably wouldn't wear again if it did fit. I've bought some new clothing pieces and want my closet organized for Fall.

Are they white plastic with pull out drawers? If so, I recommend not keeping them in the light. We had ours in glass cabinets for a couple of years and they yellowed and the plastic got brittle and broke at the “hinges” pretty quickly. But we loved them until that happened. And we almost never open our blinds.

Amazing to see all the progress everyone is making! Still nothing much going on here due to construction. The good news is they are running a bit ahead of schedule (a miracle!) and think they will be done by Labor Day! We will still be waiting on backsplash tile and appliances, but everything else will be done and my house will be free of workers!!! Once that happens things will come out of storage and the "fun" begins! There will be more to share at that point I'm sure. I've been browsing through this thread and saw your comment, and I was reminded of something I saw in a FB group once some years ago... Someone said they were having their kitchen completely redone, so while the work was going on she had moved EVERYTHING from the kitchen out to her back screened porch. Then when the work was finally done she got very busy with life and never had time to unpack everything and bring it back into the new kitchen. So she had been going to her back porch when she needed something, then washing and putting that something away in the kitchen. After several months she realized how MUCH stuff was still out on the back porch that she had not needed in all those months. So she went through the porch and pulled out a few more things -- the rest of her place settings, some baking dishes, the turkey platter, etc... Things she knew she'd use but that she hadn't used since the renovation. Things like the turkey platter, Christmas baking things, etc. she stored in her basement because she wondered why they needed to take up space in the kitchen when they were used infrequently. She donated the rest of the stuff on her porch!

We have no space to do this, I wonder what an alternative could be? Keeping a list? Ohhhh, maybe put a little piece of painters tape on everything.

This is a decluttering win, not a purging win: I ordered 2 metal shelving units from Home Depot for curbside pickup yesterday. I assembled them for my storage area and unboxed the last box from my move. Everything is off the floor now, except for some stacked bins. It might be an area I peak into just to celebrate how tidy it is, lol!

Yay for this thread still going strong!😁
And I really relate with peeking into newly organized spaces. Love that feeling.
I'm continuing on my journey to use up what we have.
Yesterday I "shopped" school supplies from the stash, and was able to get everything my two youngest kids need, except for a pack of graph paper, and the billion boxes of tissues, boxes of Ziploc bags, and canisters of disinfecting wipes.

Finally got boxes out of the house. I added some project life cards - put a bunch in zip locks and cleared out a plastic storage case . Also a couple of the big boxes of them. Two office boxes full of foam stamps, another box of miscellaneous craft stuff, big bag of yarn, bag of clothes, box of plastic Tupperware, small vacuum. Felt so good and I had fun adding stuff to the pile yesterday. We have a lot more that needs to go but every bit helps. Most if this stuff has been piled up for a while. I need to purge some paper kits as my paper is overflowing. Trying to use stuff up - food as the pantry and freezers are pretty full, candles, self care items as I over bought from FabFitFun sales.

we got cardboard recycling out - DH is dragging his feet on the donations...I feel like he wants to do a yard sale... which is all well and good except it's a lot of work and we don't really have the sort of stuff that will sell really well...99% of it should be priced $1 or less
I need to go through my sewing stuff again...I haven't sewn anything since January and I need to start up again but also be realistic about WHAT I'm going to sew as far as patterns and fabric

We set up at a swap meet and sold nearly $400, including $20 on craft supplies I was just going to donate. Already started Christmas and craft grab boxes for next time.
I have been trying to use up scrapbook stuff too. My Dad has became obsessed with having the trash can full every week so I think part of it is to shut him up about not getting his money worth on trash pick up. (I know this might sound harsh. He mentions it daily, sometimes multiple times, and I am tired of hearing it).
I also donated some dog food that my dogs wouldn't eat to a shelter. They were happy to get it.

I combined all my Felicity Jane kits into a big basket and an Iris case. I left some of the embellishments in the packaging, so when I grab a piece of paper from one of the newer kits I can just grab the coordinating embellishments. I combined all the 3x4 cards and sorted by color.
It takes up a lot less space now. I think I got rid of 7 pizza sized boxes.

I went through my cross-stitch pattern books and pulled a half-dozen. DS is taking two and the others are in the donation bin. I finally convinced myself that a too-short polo shirt was never going to magically fit properly and it went in the donation bin also. Pulled out a sewing pattern that will only fit DD15 and she looked at it in horror so it went into the donation bin as well.
Mailed a box of books to DS and DD last Saturday. I've since finished two more (that they are interested in) so I have a new box started

This week I've been doing a bit more arranging in my sewing room...again. This came about because they changed out the under counter lighting in there and the counters had to be cleared off. I also made the decision to store the older sewing machine for the time being. I found that I was using it more than the new one and need to really focus on learning the new one. That freed up counter space. It also meant I had to move the contents of all my drawers around. Picked up more storage bins drawer organizers at Container Store and did that last night. Now everything is where it needs to be. A few notions made it to the donation box or the trash. Lots more of that needs to happen, but it can wait until this Fall.

😂 They don't hold back on their opinions at that age do they? no they sure don't. I'm pretty sure her older sister had picked the pattern out originally Good job organising in your sewing room - I need to do also- well...less organising and a bit more downsizing...

I had a small win yesterday. When I bought my current sewing machine it came with a bonus quilting accessories package which I'll never use. I listed them on fb marketplace earlier this year and promptly forgot about it. Someone messaged me and picked them up yesterday. It was only a small-ish box but it's gone, I got some cash for it, and the buyer was super happy as she got it well below retail.

I assembled them for my storage area and unboxed the last box from my move. Everything is off the floor now, except for some stacked bins. It might be an area I peak into just to celebrate how tidy it is, lol! I am so envious! I can’t wait to be in a new house and have everything unpacked and put away. I know that I will be donating about half of what I am taking up with me because there was no time to go through it before it had to be packed and out of the house for the next stage of the renovation to take place. I so wanted to get rid of things first. I did get rid of several pieces of furniture. I had the movers put it on my front porch and then listed it online for free. One item, an IKEA shelf unit, was gone before I went to bed that night, so about 2 hours after listing it. Then I continued to get people asking if it was still there. My neighbors and a guy on the moving crew took all but one piece of furniture. I ended up removing the top of it and putting it in my garage to take with me. I plan on painting it and using it in my guest room.
I have to leave the house show ready just in case my sale falls through and we need to show it again. All I can pack up is stuff in cabinets. Today I packed up the food cupboard. I will just be eating power bars or restaurant stuff from here on out. Or Costco packaged salads. I tossed a lot in the trash and packed what I knew I would be using like vanilla and olive oil and my spices. I had a brand new vanilla and that stuff is expensive these days! I guess I could just buy new spices but I can always do that up there and toss what I had.

I got rid of two weird items this past week.
When we bought the house it came with a gigantic solar heating blanket on this huge reel thing. We’ve never used it on the pool because we ordered one of those custom pool covers that stretch across with the spring loaded attachments. That giant reel was just in the way. I listed it on Facebook and sold it for $50. Not only is it gone, I used the $50 to buy some more plants for the backyard.
I also dug up three yucca plants - and all the little offshoot ones around them - from one of my front beds. It’s just a plant I don’t care for. I advertised those free on Facebook and two different women came for those. They were happy and I was glad to have them gone.

So here's a question for you... I've been on a decluttering/purging/ organizing tear for several weeks now. My problem is that I plow through the obvious stuff with no problem. But then there are those last items in every room that keep me from finishing my efforts. So the room still looks cluttered and I can't check it off my list because I'm not sure how to proceed. Does anyone else do this, and if so, what is the prevailing wisdom on the best way to knock it out?

I take the items that I'm unsure about, box them up and put them in my garage with the box labeled as to which room it came from. After many months pass, if I haven't entered the box once, I open it again and take another look at the items in the box. Are they really something I need or want? Then go from there getting rid of or finding a permanent place for whatever is left in the box.

My question is when it comes to clothing how do you know when you just hit too little?
I sold off a Wool& dress this week that got little wear from me. It just wasn't doing it for me. I ordered two more but sent one back for refund and another because they sent me a long instead of a regular. And I'm short. So that will be coming. And then I ordered myself some second hand sweaters from The Real Real this week. I needed a couple of new things and in keeping with my waste less philosophy I thought I should buy second hand. But they should show up tomorrow or Tuesday.
So I keep thinking I need to go in and make some more edits to my closet.
Do you do one item in, one item out? Do you hold onto things that you wear minimally? How do you get rid of items that you don't want anymore? I'm debating this because I really don't want them to end up in a landfill somewhere. Either way I feel like I need to work on paring down some more.

Love this idea, Lexica ! Thanks for sharing. I know it just prolongs the cleaning efforts and just shifts the things from one location to another, but at least you get to check off a room by having the stuff cleaned out of it. And it gives you time to consider the necessity of the items without the pressure of having to toss it immediately. If you think there are items that you may end up looking for down the line, write a list of the contents and tape it to the exterior of the boxes (or write a list on your computer assigning a number to that list and tape the corresponding number to the boxes). That way, if you need something, you know which box to open.
