Hello, Ladies! I occasionally pop in and out and just wanted to pop back in and say that I'm still plugging along, although not quite as quickly as I'd like.
DD1 gave birth to our first grandbaby, and since they live with us, I was prompted to get rid of more stuff. One thing I have always been adamant about is NOT paying for storage! I have a lot of holiday decor and have been getting rid of stuff in small batches. I had to since one of my storage spaces was our small guest room, and that is now the baby's room. One huge positive about all of this is that I'm genuinely looking forward to having far less holiday decor to have to manage. I also hate packing everything up after each holiday season. Can't believe I"m actually excited about having less decor around my home for the holidays. Who have I become? LOL

Hi, I’m new here I used to love 2Peas, but fell out of scrapbooking when we returned home from the US. (about 15 years ago… what can I say… I made myself busy there for a while…) I took home my enormous stash of supplies, then added to them when scrapbooking was popular in my country for a while. Then we moved. Twice. So I’m committed to hoarding supplies, at least Now, I have decided, declared and wowed to take up scrapbooking again. Because I love it, and all supplies have survived two moves after being moved across the world. I’m setting up my home office/craft room and need to work out where everything is supposed to go. My goal for today - put all finished albums in view, all unused albums and album related stuff away, and the current album with my supplies. Wish me luck! -dee Welcome, Dee! It's nice to have another Pea and especially a scrapping Pea. I hope you'll complete your goal today.

It was so precious. But, those babies come with a lot of stuff! I totally understand being excited by less holiday decor. I have purge probably 75% of mine. It's nice to have just the things you truly love.

It will make it easeier to organize later, and help gauge how much space I have left. I'm busy with moving-stuff on weekdays, so can't wait for next weekend!

I've been really good about asking myself if I just LIKE something or if I LOVE it, and that has really helped solidify decisions for me. It's helped me buy less stuff and also get rid of more stuff.

As for the decluttering, I've been a member of a local Buy Nothing group for a while now. I just donated a few decor items to other group members to enjoy. It's nice seeing other people excited about my no-longer-loved items. LOL

DH has been working long hours, so I've been mostly home alone the past couple days. So far I've cleaned/organized our sunroom which also has some exercise equipment like the treadmill. I've gone through the pantry and kitchen cabinets. Again just cleaning and organizing with some purging. I've gotten some general cleaning done. I still plan to go through my closet, clean the outside of windows and do some other yard projects (before it gets too cold).

Today I spent time filing important papers, dealing with neglected mail, etc.
I pulled outdated papers (2017, etc) that i no longer need & put them in a pile to shred. Still need to shred, though.
Admittedly, there are still a couple bags of stuff & papers that need to be dealt with.
I also have two bags of stuff to donate, that I need to drop off. Clothes outgrown & three toddler umbrellas (haven't had a toddler in several years).
Can I just say that I am so tired of paperwork, and forms, and keeping on top of it all?
Yesterday I did a lot of yard work. Trimming back plants, raking, etc. Not exactly decluttering, but necessary to keep the property nice.

Yesterday I did a lot of yard work. Trimming back plants, raking, etc. Not exactly decluttering, but necessary to keep the property nice. I always feel sorting through all the paper is the hardest part of the battle and the same battle I’m procrastinating on today. Just so much paper! I have been managing to keep on top of DS7’s school papers this year. I’ve managed to get his important stuff from this year organized into a binder that I can take to IEP meetings and specialist appointments. The past few weeks I’ve been conquering my laundry room and mud room. Several bags of shoes, coats, and clothes waiting to go to the winter drive at church that starts next week. I’ve finally got those areas to maintenance stage but DH and DS keep tracking leaves and mud and their junk in. Ugh. DH bless his heart tried to help me out by washing sheets last weekend but didn’t tell me so they sat in the washer all week (we have 2 sets for each bed) and now I’m soaking them in a vinegar rinse to hopefully get the smell out. So many decluttering and organizing projects I want to accomplish but just so little time. Off to try and reign in some of the paper.

I love seeing everyone’s progress.! I have not had anything to contribute lately but the last couple of weeks we finally got our garage cleaned out!
Most of the stuff was DH’s and it was a subject we bickered about so often. He had stuff everywhere and 3 long huge work benches with stuff piled all over. We got rid of those and bought 4 tall storage cabinets to store all of his tools and stuff in. He got rid of a lot and took some things to our back shed. I can’t tell you how nice it is to have it finally cleaned and so much space! I’m not embarrassed to have our garage door open anymore and I plan to sit out there with my heater and pass out Halloween candy tomorrow.
I’m trying to be so conscious of what I bring in the house and what I get others for Christmas this year. Just so tired of so much stuff!

We are having all of the tile on our main floor replaced this week, so everything from the kitchen, dining room, front hall, laundry room, and office has been relocated to the living and family rooms and to the basement and second floor ... it's a bit chaotic, and the dog and cats are decidedly unimpressed! I'm trying to chill out and read more books and be happy about my little mini vacay from cleaning for the week I'm pretty good about decluttering and organizing, but having to empty the china hutch and hall closet has me looking forward to a week from now when I can put everything back and make some stuff disappear! For right now, I live vicariously through everyone else's decluttering efforts

Dh did the last pick up of leaves in the yard and emptied the planters. I did some more decluttering and boxing up donations. The Drop inn centre has a warehouse of furniture etc, some to the Salvatiion Army, clothes that help teenagers and some work clothes to another agency and sil had three bags of donations too. The organization is called Making Changes.

I tackled the other two bags of papers/neglected mail. Most was just tossed.
I rewrote a master To-Do list.

Welcome! I've just caught up on the last couple of weeks in this thread. It's great to see that so many are still plugging away. My next project is a hard look at my closet and dresser. Again. I do it pretty regularly, but I'm in a real purging mood for clothes right now so I'm hopeful I can make some of the harder decisions.

With the weather improving here I've been trying to get the garden tidied up again, so lots of pruning and weeding going on, which I guess is its own sort of decluttering. I had a small win inside though: we had to replace our 20+ year old vacuum cleaner recently so I finally pulled out all the attachments and the remaining bags and got rid of them all.
I'm on leave from work this week and have a couple of cupboards I'd like to get in and tidy up.

Chinagirl828 Yes! Yard decluttering! I've been working on that myself, and it's so tiring. But I want to get the majority of it done before it's consistently cold.

My next project is a hard look at my closet and dresser. Again. I do it pretty regularly, but I'm in a real purging mood for clothes right now so I'm hopeful I can make some of the harder decisions. I figured "no time like the present" so I tackled this yesterday. A friend had offered to let me go through her mom's clothes (she passed early September) and I did that Sunday picking up a few beautiful pieces mostly from Talbots and Coldwater Creek. Her mom had lost a lot of weight due to declining health and most of these still had tags on them. So I wanted to follow the one-in-one-out rule as I added these to my closet. I went ahead and flipped my closet seasonally as I went through everything. And I got rid of a lot! Far more than I was adding. I'd like to pare a little further just to create 'space' on the rods. I prefer it to not be packed so I can easily slide hangers back and forth. I've hung a little section of things I'm challenging myself to wear by the end of the year. If I don't, out they go. I still need to go through shoes. If you remember anything about my posts on this thread, that's my hardest thing to let go. But I will do it. Soon. Feel free to hold me accountable for this one!

Between going back to work (I added a bunch of new clothes to my wardrobe) and selling our other house, our closet has gotten out of control. To the point that I feel like I can’t fix it. Anyone here a professional organizer? Wondering if that would be cost-prohibitive or totally worth it

I haven’t hired an organizer but tried something I learned here at two peas years ago in regards to clothing. I go through the clothing then put the rest of the clothing on the hangers and hang them up backwards. In six months I revisit the clothing that is hung backwards and decide if I still want to keep them.

UPDATE 2: I had an inquiry about the old bookcase on the curb, but my neighbor came out and said she was interested in it.. so we hauled it into her garage.. about 15 ft away. success!!
UPDATE: I got the bookcases. and they look lovely and dh likes them. the old bookcase is on the curb and I hope someone takes it. my son helped move stuff so now I just need to sort the books, get rid of some and restock.
I am getting bookcases today that I ordered maybe last spring? so today I am moving everything that is in the space to have the movers put them right in place. one goes in my study, where I have 4 matching bookcases all ready and one replaces an old bookcase in my living room ..so have to empty all the books this morning and stuff. I have been getting rid of stuff in the study.. still have boxes in the basement to go through..but there is visible progress.
dh came home from a long trip so his stuff is all over again. oh well.

This past week I've really been making progress on my To Do list. So far I've gotten my pantry organized and rearranged (I know again LOL). I gave the guest room a deep clean and updated some of the bedding. Most of the outside windows have been cleaned. The under the sink cabinet in the main bath has been cleaned, purged and organized. I rearranged my pants/jeans in my closet. I boxed up all the shirts I don't reach for to wear but am not quite ready to donate. I wanna see if I go looking for any of them within the next few months. I am doing the same with some of my purses before I donate them as well. I rounded out the closet with a big purge of about 1/3 of my shoes. Now I've always been good about purging shoes, but lately I swear my feet have grown or changed somehow and there are several pairs that just don't fit well. There are also quite a few I don't seem to wear for various reasons. There are still smaller projects and cleaning still on my list. A goal I'm trying to work on is meal planning better and eating down the upright freezer. I struggle with cooking for 2 more than all those years of working around all the kid activities. We always host Thanksgiving. I've gotten a jump start on grocery shopping. Everything I declutter makes the house that much easier to maintain so I'm not feeling stressed at all about having company.

Does your neighbor want a dining table and eight chairs? I bought a new set and picked it up Friday afternoon. Now I need to get rid of the old set. (I do have it listed on-line. If there's no interest, we'll probably consign it at the auction house. It has to be out of here by Thanksgiving one way or the other.)

our town is famous for curb pickup..there are active free groups, there is next door, and if you want, we have giant garbage day--where you put stuff out and half of it is gone before garbage truck comes. and we have lots of college students around us. so stuff disappears.
our favorite designer modern chair was a curb find.. from a friend.
I was surprised our neighbor took it. she is about 80.. and has the tiny garden ready for a contest at any time. we really like her.. and she likes us.

This past week I have accomplished a ton of garden clean up and prep.
The temps are still so unseasonably warm that it's throwing off my inner "growing season is done, should clean it all up" vibe, so I just decided to plow ahead, because eventually it will be cold-cold, and I won't want to have to do it then.
I mowed all the yards, hopefully for the last time until spring.
I pulled the annuals from the new-this-year flowerbed, & laid down cardboard sheets, held down with pavers.
Then realized that the compost bin that was started in spring & stopped adding to in July was ready, save for a few sticks that were tossed back into the second compost bin... So I shoveled all of it on top of the cardboard sheet mulching.
Holy heck.. It was a lot more compost (good!) And work (ugh!) than I thought.
I covered the compost with fall leaves that will break down over fall/winter/early spring.
I'm looking forward to a healthier flower bed next year.
It left me with an empty composting bin, which is good, because with the addition of yard matter that had been pruned recently, the other bin was tippy-top full.
I put emptied flower pots, and unneeded tools in the shed for the winter.
