DH did indeed go through all his workout/lay about clothes and added several pairs of pants to the donation bag. And it only took him 3 days to clear the keepers off the dining room table and island. Next up will be the t-shirts and the rest of his wardrobe. He's lost a good bit of weight, as well as doesn't work in a completely 'white shirt, tie' environment now, so I'm sure there will be plenty to donate from that sweep. This month I need to focus more on the photo/scrapbook project. It's been added to my daily goals checklist, something new I'm trying this year. Anyone else have a focus area for February?

Today I've been at work trying to organize toiletries & bathroom stuff. First, went to the grocery, bought ingredients for the vegan peanut stew I read about here. Threw it in the crockpot, and started a second load of laundry. I cleaned the bathroom first, and took out what doesn't need to be n there. It's easier to keep the room clean with less in there. Then, reorganized bathroom supplies on the shelving outside of the bathroom so that: 1, often used items are closer to eye level, and no bending to the bottom shelf to find what's needed. 2, Take stock of what we already own. We do not need to buy bandaids, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bar soap, dental picks, kids' toothpaste, paper bathroom cups, razors, shave gel, or deodorant for a long time. A long, long time. **GypsyGirl** I think my goal for February is to make a plan for things that need to be tackled and write a list. There is a lot of clutter, and things out of place.

I tossed my really old George Foreman grill today. I never use it, DH did. It doesn't come apart for the plates to go in the dishwasher. I'm still working on purging as I pack for our move. I was just looking at my GF-look-alike and thinking it needs to leave - I also no longer use and I HATE cleaning it Same. I would tell DH if he used it, he cleaned it.

So, I kept purging. This time in the dining room cabinets. Dried playdoh, cheap water balloons that didn't work great when we first bought them, tiny lunch boxes that came with the bookbags (from years ago!) but were too small to hold a full lunch, dried markers, plus other really random stuff like a single plastic glove, and a wad of bubble wrap.
Then I cleaned off the mail table and its drawer. It had become a dumping ground. Now, all clean.

I had bought new robes for several of my granddaughters, but I ended up with an extra one somehow. I had it in my closet all wrapped up, and gave it to one of the younger granddaughters. She is thrilled with it! So got rid of something else.

Or why the paper towel someone just dried his hands on can't be placed IN the trash bin and not on top of the counter over the trash drawer. This 100%. And why the need for so many used paper towels anyways?!? Did a run through of the pantry and fridge today. We’re in the path of the big winter storm. Hoping the school districts call it early for a 4 day weekend so I can get some decluttering and organizing done.

I finally got some organization done. My 3 kids were here for 6 weeks for Christmas break, and I did nothing during that time. They brought their 3 cats and our dog is now disabled, so we were very busy. They went back a week ago, so I have been putting things back in place.
I have 3 rubbermaids in the basement with extra kitchen stuff. We have hardly any storage in our kitchen and a small pantry, so I like to only keep out what we use every week. One bin is for once a year holiday cooking stuff, then the other 2 are containers and stuff we may need every so often. I went through and donated of some of that stuff. It's easier to buy if needed then holding on to something I may not need.

Got rid of 2 tank tops that are small and I will never fit into. Also bought a new tiered rolling cart and organized by pens and tools in my craft room. Framed a piece of art and a second I need to figure out what to do with, it’s too think for the frame. I might glue the 2 frames together and make it more like a shadow box. Today I found an entire tote of bills etc from 2003-2006, took that out of a tote and put it in a box for the next shred day.
I’m stuck at home this week due to DD getting Covid so my plan is to focus on a big purge. I also need to get stuff off the basement floor because we got 20 inches of snow this weekend and it’s supposed to be 54 and raining Thursday which means water in the basement. So it will be a twofold plan.

Our trash can was unusually empty this week, so I got rid of a big frame with wire mesh on it that DH built to power wash some landscaping rock for re-use. Yay!

Earlier this week I stopped at Container Store and got some of the sea grass baskets for DH workout clothes. Folded everything Marie Kondo style, sorted in the baskets by type of clothing. He was super impressed when he came home from work. I don't think he ever really got the basket/organizer love until I did that drawer for him! This weekend he wants me to help him go through his other drawers in the wardrobe. There will be more things added to the donation pile I'm sure.

Today I tackled the huge bin with plastic leftovers containers. Matched up every bottom to a lid, then tossed all the mismatched pieces.
It was a freaking lot of mismatched pieces!
I also went through my important papers binder. Sheet by sheet. Tossed old paystubs from 5+ yrs ago that I had somehow missed before.
Everything in it is relevant. It is just still very full.
I did end up writing a list of things/ appointments/ projects I need to tackle this year. Feels good to write it down because then I don't have to have it rattling around my head.

Tossed old paystubs from 5+ yrs ago that I had somehow missed before. That's how it seems to be with every category - especially paperwork and spices. This afternoon I started my embroidery course online. That led to me cleaning up the embroidery files for one company on my computer. A ton of files but now I have it all downloaded in the correct format, as well as the corresponding thread list .pdf. Every design has its own sub-folder. Should help out. I'm going to count this as both decluttering and points for the Paper Posse team.

I went through my makeup drawers yesterday. I haven't worn any makeup since the pandemic started, I think the last thing I bought was in early 2019, so all was old. I tossed almost everything, except face powder and 3 lipsticks. I took pictures of the foundations I tossed for reference when I go shopping for new. I tossed several nail polishes as I seem to rotate 3-4 and never wear the others. I organized all my lotions, body washes, and the few hair products I have, tossed old ointments. It seems like I did this not so long ago, but there was some pretty old stuff in there.

so I have been making steady progress. dh went through all his suits. I dry cleaned the keepers (many were custom suits he had made in hong kong when we lived there 35 yrs ago) and I got some covers I am putting them in in the closet. I continue to put more stuff on my new bookcases.. visible progress of getting stuff out of the living room. still have big stack of books in hallway to get rid of.. just have one more kid to look at them. and sort out a few for friends.
Yesterday, I pulled off all my files off the kitchen bookcase and went through them, organizing the contents, getting rid of stuff, and dealing with all the misc papers sitting on my dining table. dh and I were able to put a few more bills on autopay.. and he sorted tax papers. I have three small sets of files there in kitchen..right next to where I open mail.

I finally found bras that are comfortable, fit well, and provide at least some support - so I tossed my old, falling apart, didn't fit properly, hurt to wear bras. I need to buy at least one more of the good ones but it's a step.
I'm pulling photos off CDs - labelling them (oh so much fun), and backing them up to my external drive and my online backup as well as my internal drive and tossing the CDs (these were mum's - I on the third and final box now). My computer doesn't have a CD drive so I have to trek upstairs and use DH's to move them to a USB and then back down to my computer ...
Thinking of ruler folding my woven fabric - anyone done that? was it worth it?

I finally got around to listing some things on our local buy nothing group, everything was claimed in under 10 mins and pick ups are conveniently scheduled for tonight. I'm excited the stuff is finally going and also a little bit annoyed with myself for putting off listing it all for so long.
I've also been back in the garden again on the couple of cooler days we've had, and am making some good progress there, my house is no longer looking like *that* house on the street. I just have one more very stubborn overgrown and woody bush to remove from the front garden we're ripping up which I hope to do this month.

Still going, little by little.
My youngest's bookshelf was bursting to the point we couldn't see what was on there.
So we took everything off and made two piles: Rubbermaid bin and Back on the Shelf.
Books in the Rubbermaid were taken downstairs to be stored short term.
We will work our way through the books on the shelf, putting a Post It note on each one as we read it.
The goal is as time goes on, we switch already read books with Rubbermaid bin books, and keep the bookshelf neat and books easy to access.
Yesterday I did a bit of a clean up in the yard. I'm counting it.

Yesterday I did a bit of a clean up in the yard. I'm counting it. If garages count, so do yards! It's been a very slow week for decluttering/organizing at the GypsyGirl house. DH added an undershirt that turned out to be too short for him. I replaced 2 wooden spoons and tossed the old ones (cracked). Also pulled out a new bag of dog food and added to the donation pile. DH changed what the dog eats and I don't want this bag of Merrick to go to waste. The housekeeper will take it for one of her dogs. Need to step it up this next week with my photo/scrapbook project

Only one tossing things in our house has been my son. Mostly clothing. I think he tossed a few shoe boxes. I spent the last 4 days in bed due to a horrible flare. Made it to the couch today.

I bought a new set of dishes at an estate auction on Saturday. I know. I know. It's a vintage Dansk set that's white with an 'unfinished' clay edge. I bought it as a pasta set due to the wonderfully large bowls and the large serving bowl. It also came with dinner plates and salad plates.
Ran all the new stuff through the dishwasher. Then I rearranged my dishware cabinets in my kitchen yet again to make room. That necessitated moving some crystal stemware to the dining room. Which meant I had to choose a few pieces to purge to make room.
Overall, this was a losing proposition though. Way more pieces came in than went out!
Eh. You win some. You lose some.

I started measuring, folding, and inventorying my fabric. I'm still working my way through the wovens (haven't touched the knits) and I'm already past 50 yards...
I think my goal is to sew through as much as possible this year and buy only if absolutely needed for a project (and sewn up right away). At the beginning of 2023, I want to take a good look again at what I have and why it hasn't gotten sewn up. Is it because I ran out of time but I have a project in mind? or is it because it's pretty (or was free, lol) and I have NO idea what it wants to be. Because those latter ones - will need to move on.
Hopefully I'll have less fabric at the end of the year than I do now.

made a trip to goodwill and diminished the pile of stuff in the hallway. only forgot one thing. put more stuff on my new bookshelves.
time to start again..

fabric is measured, folded, stored, and inventoried. I have 73 pieces totalling 116.25 yards - WOW I didn't think I had that much but...
did a spreadsheet of UFOs...they are my first priority to sew up
inventorying patterns now

If it brings you joy and you can find it a home, you haven't lost! Go for it. I am working on getting rid of Terry's medical supplies. I took all his meds to the police station drop-off site yesterday. Today I will research where I can donate the "hard" supplies for his feeding tube. I have the equivalent of 3 lower cabinets of those items. Then I'll return his transport wheelchair to the place that loaned it out long-term. Those things are easy to part with!

They'll often gladly take unopened medical supplies and equipment in usable condition. And again, my sympathies on your loss.
