((((Hugs))) mikklynn - it's good of you to donate what you can of his medical supplies - someone who needs them will be appreciative. I hope you're taking care of yourself and have support. I have a riches of support. I am incredibly blessed. All of you here on the boards are wonderful. I can only read a page or two per day of all the kind words. It's kindness that makes me burst into tears, LOL. My son and daughter have really stepped up. It's sort of odd to let them handle things!

I am working on getting rid of Terry's medical supplies. I took all his meds to the police station drop-off site yesterday. Today I will research where I can donate the "hard" supplies for his feeding tube. I have the equivalent of 3 lower cabinets of those items. Then I'll return his transport wheelchair to the place that loaned it out long-term. Do you have a "free medical clinic" in your town? They'll often gladly take unopened medical supplies and equipment in usable condition. And again, my sympathies on your loss. The free clinic is an excellent idea. I'll add that to my searches. The food shelf will take all the boxes of nutrition. Unfortunately he just had a delivery before he went into the hospital, so I have 6 cases of cartons of "food". It's just like Boost. DS told me to wait until he's back in town, because they weigh 16# each. I will do that!

Whoo! I donated 6 boxes of medical supplies to Global Health Ministries. It was only 15 minutes away!

It will be difficult to clean DH's closet, but his office - easy! I already recycled all the rolls of plans he had stashed. Next up his files. He never purged anything.

I am so happy to be delayed on the move! It won't be until mid-May at this point. That will be helpful by giving you additional time to deal with everything you have going on. Is it due to the supply chain issues or labor shortages?

Is it due to the supply chain issues or labor shortages? Mostly supply chain, but I am sure labor plays a part. They are still missing one window and one patio door, even though the drywall is complete.

This morning I've been working on my recipe binders. A few times a year I like to go through and toss recipes we don't love and add in new recipes we've found, etc. It's not a big project, but still nice to open that cabinet and have it neat and tidy.

I have a move date, so it's getting real!
I'm purging more books, as I don't have built in bookshelves. I figure I'll buy more books anyway.
I am bagging up DH's dress clothes. I know someone will hit the jackpot at Goodwill with them. I gave the grandkids some of his sports jerseys. I'll keep some for now.

That move date really makes it all real doesn't it! The grandkids will treasure those jerseys. One thing you might consider doing with the rest of his jerseys (or clothes in general) is have someone turn them into a quilt or lap throw for you. I've also seen where people will take an old shirt and make it into a pillow. Just an idea you might not have considered.

Ok, Peas. I'm going into my craft room to organize all my fabric. It's become quite messy since the holidays, and and going to 3 quilting/sewing shows with my sister--I'd say she is a bad influence, but really, I don't need much, if any, encouragement to buy at the shows. And there is another local show we will attend at the end of this month. I'm going to take out every piece of fabric and get all organized. I'll also update my spreadsheet of precuts/quilt patterns/panels. I may not surface for a while....

I'm late to this party!😉
I just watched the first season of Home Edit on Netflix. Anxiously waiting for Season 2. Does anyone else like that show? The only thing I don't care for, are all of those expensive clear organizers they use! I would love to have them, but they are so dang expensive! Even their own Home Edit line at Walmart, is too much money for me. I use a lot of Dollar Tree/99 Cent Store organizers.
Does anyone ever post before and after photos on this thread?

welcome MalleyCat - I think sometimes people have posted before and after photos - you're certainly welcome to - just be aware that the forum's capacity for hosting photos is usually full or nearly full so it's best to link from an external hosting site. I bought poly folders (the expandable file folders that are closed on 3 sides) and re-did my scrapbook theme folders. Pulled together some stuff to donate, organised the rest, and have a clearer idea of what I actually have so maybe will USE more of it.

I suppose it’s progress but I finally got my holiday baking stuff off the dining table and back into a cabinet. I also reorganized the pantry.
Things have been crazy here so I haven’t done much. But DS25 and DH filled the dumpster we have on site with stuff from the big workshop. I hope to fill it again this week.

Not late at all. It's an Open House, so everyone comes & goes as they can! Welcome! Before/After photos are always welcome. I've had good luck posting with Postimages, or on the Tapatalk app. Don't feel like you have to use the pricey organizers. There are all price ranges from free to $$$$. Every nice sturdy box that is drawer size that comes in gets used somewhere. It's about finding a system that works for you. No grades given for most expensive organizers! I currently have two gorgeous red shoe boxes that I'm trying to find a use for. Check out Amazon as well. The mDesigns products are great knockoffs and have worked very well for me. Yesterday DH was finally in the mood to finish up his wardrobe organization. He liked the basket system I set up in one drawer, so I did the other two drawers on Friday. He was pretty ruthless going through his clothes, with a 30 lb weight loss in the fall providing good motivation. Donations included 2 suits (both w/2 pair of pants), a blazer, 5 pairs of dress shoes, some socks, several dressy t-shirts, 2 pairs of khakis (nearly new) and some sport shirts. There will another suit and some dress slacks donated once his new clothes come back from the tailor. Also moved some vests and jackets to his office closet where they belong (that holds all his sporting gear). The big win was him deciding to toss an old hat that had belonged to his dad. It was an old cowboy hat (not straw) that was in very bad shape and moldy inside. He was beginning to waiver when I took it and the box and tossed them in the big trash can outside! Too late now dude! I added a pair of shorts, some pants, a sweater and a shirt. Not much since I did a major purge back in the fall. I also did a wardrobe swap and have been pressing the wrinkles out of the summer stuff. A few winter things will be put away later as we are still having crazy weather.

I'm going to try watching Home Edit. I've never heard of it. I'm currently working on shredding all my late DH's medical information. I have years worth of scan results, etc. I got my tax info uploaded to our accountant, so I can breathe again. Whew! I also found lots of IRA paperwork I can shred.

I was at my son and daughter-in-law’s home visiting all last week. I cooked most of the meals while we I was there and got frustrated trying to find things in their haphazard pantry. On one of the days the baby went to daycare, I bought containers at Dollar Tree and a discount store to tackle their pantry. A few hours later, I had it cleaned out, reorganized, and labeled each bin (tags like breakfast, baking, grains, etc). They loved it and were very appreciative! I probably spent around $20 for the whole project. Anyway, welcome to the party! And I’d love to see befores and afters.

I emptied out my entire pantry cabinet (not large) yesterday. I purged anything expired (mostly vinegars) and wrote the best by date on the front of every package with a permanent marker. I also dragged up the food items from the "Costco" shelf in the basement and labeled them. It will be easy to put things in my new pantry will oldest items in front.
My current pantry is too deep, so it's easy for stuff to get lost in the back.
I've also been shredding like crazy. I brought the shredder up from DH's office in the lower level, so I can shred during commercials in the evening.

I'm glad to see this thread bumped back up. I've been working on house projects, although not so much purging or decluttering. We've just had new windows installed, so have a giant pile of rubbish on the front lawn which will get picked up early next week. A couple of the holland blinds we had on one of the corner windows will no longer fit, so I just need to grab the measurements and some photos and I'll list those on my local buy nothing group.
And I'm still working on the garden which feels never-ending. The garden bed at the front of the house is completely ripped up, and about half of it has already gone back to grass. I didn't realise how untidy it made the house look until it was gone. I'm now tackling the ridiculously overgrown agapanthus along our side fence, and have already filled up our green waste bin this week. This is my last section of garden to dig up, so the end is definitely in sight.

Looks like you are making good progress! We spent the past 2 yrs getting our front and back yards landscaped and in order. this year it will mainly be new patio pots and some new flowers for those. A couple of the holland blinds we had on one of the corner windows will no longer fit, Had to google a Holland blind. looks like what we call a roller blind. Mystery solved! **sorry for short and poorly typed reply. had hand surgery earlier today so am pecking one handed.**

I've also learnt something today! I hope the surgery went well and you heal quickly.

Chinagirl828 I'm right with you on the house projects. Several (on paper) small projects that require a ton of my labor are happening here. And now that it's just about spring, I've been working in the gardens in earnest. I added six huge bags of mulch to the front flower gardens. And five huge bags of compost to the flower bed I recently dug in the back yard. When it is consistently warm, I'll pot up some annuals for the front walkway pots, and the back deck pots. **GypsyGirl** I hope your hand heals quickly.

This past week I cleaned out and reorganized my walk in pantry AGAIN and FINALLY think I got it organized the way it should function best. I'm not sure why it took me 10 years to realize the big electric roaster needed to be stored in the pantry vs. down in the basement. That darn thing hasn't even been used in 5 years.
I've now moved on to my bedroom closet and started doing another purge since the seasons are now changing. So far I have a nice pile to donate and I'm not finished. I also ordered a new shoe rack for DH's closet. His needs some organizing and DH fortunately is usually ok with me doing it for him.
One of these days I need to make a run to Goodwill to drop everything off. As soon as the weather warms up more I have lots of outside cleaning up to do. We still have snow melting here.

I tidied up the kitchen cabinets, moving things back where they belong, tossing things too old, too stale, or things we didn't actually like.
I also took every single herb & spice out, and wrote a list, adding each as I put them back. I taped the list to the inside of the spice cabinet. Easy reference.
Then i cleaned out the freezer, tossing a couple things.
I did a little more tidying in the back yard, pulling weeds that have popped up in perennial beds.

It’s been a long time since I posted here. Finally got Dad moved into his new home. He is thriving there. Already showing more energy & upbeat spirits. He closed on his old house Feb 10th. The good news is he now realizes you can’t fit the contents of a 3500 sq ft house into a 1500 sq ft house. The bad news is he’s unloading his junk to me. Literally had movers show up today with boxes of stuff he doesn’t want. No call to me ahead of time. Just a ring of the doorbell and a “where do you want us to put this stuff?” 😱. So now my house looks like a hoarders again. I’m giving serious thought to a dumpster & a shovel. He won’t come to my house so he doesn’t realize how bad it is. Also no guilt on his part. My living room, dining room, front hall, kitchen, & guest bedroom are full to overflowing. I’m pissed. Thank you for letting me vent.
