I got rid of a few pairs of shoes, some tops that plunge too low for me, a couple of sweatshirts, three pairs of jeans that don't fit quite right anymore, a fur cape that was my mothers and I've kept it for sentimental reasons all these years--I've never worn it--ever--so why do I feel bad getting rid of it? I went through some more paperwork--where does this all come from anyhow??? I assembled everything for my tax guy and will drop it off this week. The last thing I needed finally came yesterday--I thought that stuff had to be sent out earlier in the year!!

There are some you tubers doing spring cleaning videos, so I am excited to watch and get motivated.
Two of my kids are home for spring break, so I am going to try to get a lot done while they are here. It's hard, because I want to hang out with them, but I have been overwhelmed taking care of my disabled/incontinent German Shepherd, so the only time I can get a lot done is when I have someone to take care of the dog while I clean.

It’s been a long time since I posted here. Finally got Dad moved into his new home. He is thriving there. Already showing more energy & upbeat spirits. He closed on his old house Feb 10th. The good news is he now realizes you can’t fit the contents of a 3500 sq ft house into a 1500 sq ft house. The bad news is he’s unloading his junk to me. Literally had movers show up today with boxes of stuff he doesn’t want. No call to me ahead of time. Just a ring of the doorbell and a “where do you want us to put this stuff?” 😱. So now my house looks like a hoarders again. I’m giving serious thought to a dumpster & a shovel. He won’t come to my house so he doesn’t realize how bad it is. Also no guilt on his part. My living room, dining room, front hall, kitchen, & guest bedroom are full to overflowing. I’m pissed. Thank you for letting me vent. OMG. I'd lose my mind. Get rid of anything you want or all of it, guilt free! Turns out I am a paper hoarder! I went through every file in my 2-drawer lateral file and purged. Um, I had the test results from my pap tests back to 1994! It's so weird, they came on a postcard. No privacy there. I shredded 2 large contractor trash bags of paper. It feels so good. I also pulled out all the files the new homeowner will need - appliance info, etc.

More trees and bushes from our property. And burned the brush pile. It was rather fun.
3 dead trees and the horrid bushes from in front of the house. Still have a ridiculous number of stumps to remove.
Otherwise, nothing from inside the house.

I emptied out another box of CDs and DVDs - put the photos on my computer and labelled them (okay - I'm still working on labelling the last one which has 700 photos....and a list of handwritten captions on legal pad paper in atrocious handwriting.)
Next up will be the dozen or more camera cards...and taking the two floppy disks to the local computer shop to see if they can pull the pics off for me.
My mother's photos are the gift that keeps on giving...endlessly
Also spent many hours identifying, dating, and labelling photos....another endless task

I've been creating/crafting to raise $$$ for kids and have neglected a bit and made some new chaos. Not too bad though. Now that I'm further into it and not in the initial get-it-done and new stage chaos, I just need to find tune and reorganize a bit to accommodate that stuff and keep it from getting out of hand, neglect.

hmp Here's your permission toss everything. Look inside, or toss the box unopened. None of that is your responsibility.

I finally was able to donate the last of my DH's feeding tube supplies. Whoo! It was $500 worth, so I didn't want to just toss it.

I got derailed in the beginning by a two hour emergency errand I had to run. I did manage to clean out and reorganize ALL of DS’s clothes which took forever. He’s almost 7 and just in the past month has started wanting to pick out his own clothes so I had to change the system around to make it easier for him. I did find brand new uniform shirts I had tucked away for spring and forgot about. Made me a happy camper because I really didn’t know if I could make his current ones last another 8 weeks (whoever thought putting Kindergartners in light blue shirts was a good idea never had kids) Now I have space to stockpile Navy ones for next year. Outgrown clothes made it to the donate box and too small uniforms were dropped off to the school office this morning. All the new spring/summer clothes that have been piling up in the laundry room are washed folded and put away. So a fairly productive afternoon.

I pulled out ALL my spices, purged, and reorganized. Due to the volume, it’s still two lazy susans on a cabinet shelf and odd sizes/bags/rarely used in a drawer nearby. But everything’s back in alphabetical order and easier to get to. Yay.
As a result of buying a new laptop and printer, I did some reorganization in my office. The best part was cleaning behind and under some large pieces in order to get to cords and plugs. No real purging (I am donating the old printer that I upgraded from), but happy about the cleaning and straightening!

I finally finished my bedroom closet cleanout and have 3 full black garbage bags to donate. I was even more ruthless than my normal LOL. I have a lot of stuff to take to Goodwill. It's an hour away and I just haven't had time plus they only take donations on weekday mornings. I really hope to make it there in the next week or 2. My garage will look so much better after the donate pile is gone.
Since Spring is finally kinda sorta here I plan to swap out the heavy winter coats for the Spring coats in our mudroom coat storage area this weekend.

I donated a couple bags this week . I went through my closet today and purged 25 shirts so they are bagged and ready to be donated. Very slow but every little bit help. I need to go through the pantry in the garage snd purge done things we inherited but haven’t used it’s time for them to go as we aren’t going to eat them. I donated some things a year ago but thought we would eat some things and we are some but not all and they are getting old. They need to go so I can rearrange everything else. There are a few other things from him that need to either find a home or go away. We need to go through a bunch of mail for my FIL from the last year and shred or burn.

I filled up my BIL's huge trash can with old pillows, a comforter beyond donating, and a bag of shredding. He's away, so his can was empty and I had to get his mail anyway. I was absurdly excited to get it out!
I bought a new purse and donated one, so win for me there.

I would never cross this boundary, but OMG, I want to purge stuff at my BIL's house. I am looking after it while he is in the hospital and now recuperating at his brother's house. I had to go in his office and it's got at least 3 boxes of recycling sitting there. I can see it's junk mail and empty envelopes. All he would have to do is walk a couple feet to the garage and dump it in the recycling can.
I walked through the furnace/storage area to make sure everything looked ok. He has bags and bags of empty water bottles in there. Again, just take them upstairs to the garage.
I am really worried he is beginning to have hoarder tendencies since his mother passed away last April. I've offered to dispose of my late MIL's medications and medical supplies, even telling him where I could donate the supplies. He didn't respond, so I dropped it. He has filled a bathtub with all of it.

For all of my desires to declutter and organize, my craft room certainly does not look like it! I may never get it cleaned up but I do have a bunch of stuff i need to get rid of.
But! The kitchen is getting organized. The cabinets are original to the house and not modern at all. The shelves are fixed so we can't move them up or down to allow for better storage. We got pull outs racks for one lower cabinet so finally, we can get to pots, lids, and stuff without digging around in it. We need to get 4 more for the other lower cabinet to organize that a little better.
I need a shredder. Once I get that, the two boxes of personal papers will be gone.

My sister has decided to host a garage sale and I have until tomorrow to pack up anything I want to get rid of, so I've been doing a rather random "I should check that cupboard" kind of approach to decluttering in the last couple of days. I've pulled out some old glassware and kitchen items, cleaned out the spices while I was in the same cupboard, and added some old vases I never reach for to the boxes. I'm going to add the wii console and games to the box, but need to delete all our data from it before I can pack it up.

Looks like you guys are doing well! I'm in a funk. Have had some repercussions from a fall I had in mid-February that has made me uninterested in doing much around here. Once I get all this medical stuff taken care of, I will hopefully be back to decluttering.

My DH is gone this weekend so I am purging clothes + home decor stuff while he is gone. I totally under estimated how much crap I had stored in my home decor closet. So far (and I am not done) I have two big boxes ready to take to a local non-profit.

((((Hugs))) tentoes - hope you're feeling more yourself soon Today was the Toxic Waste Roundup here and we took over 1/3 of a trailer worth of stuff from the old sheds - two pans from changing car oil, a propane tank, a dozen or more gas cans, paint cans, cleaners, car fluids, pesticides, all manner of stuff. Such a relief to finally have it all GONE!

tentoes I hope the medical stuff is sorted soon and you are on the mend. I hope to get out into the shed for a few mins today. I pulled out a paint can a couple of weeks ago and discovered the contents had dried up, so I want to check all the other leftover tins to see if there are any others I can get rid of.

I haven't done much since my second hospitalization. Too scared to get HR up/get around allergens.
I need to though.

Today I cleared five inches of school worksheets out of the china hutch.
I tore up several cardboard boxes for the compost pile.
I took all of the wrapping paper rolls out of my clothes closet, and put them in a wrapping paper bin in the basement.
I also stored a few other things in the basement & out of the closet.

I’m hoping joining this thread will keep me in pace. I decided that I’m too damn old for my apartment to embarrass me sheerly for the amount of stuff I have. I took 69 pounds of paper to the UPS store for shredding. I started cleaning out my coat closet and tossed a few items (none of them suitable for donation) and consolidated my everyday shoes.
My first foray into organizing was a few weeks ago with my scrap area. It felt so good to get rid of stuff that I decided it really needs to be a regular thing until I start to see a difference.
Next up is cleaning out one corner of my bedroom that is filled with clothes. It’s the perfect time of year to start decluttering clothes since the season is changing and it’s time for me to switch seasonal wardrobes.

Thanks ladies for the good wishes. I'm not doing terrible. I will be getting an MRI of my shoulder this coming week that got "jammed" when I fell a few weeks ago. My knee got a cortisone shot and is feeling much better. I had already had a cortisone shot in the other knee before the fall!!

I organized today. We re-organized our storage room (about 6x8 in size), donated an SUV full of stuff to Goodwill and put our upright freezer in that room instead of the garage. I purged scrapbook stuff and donated that to a local museum for kids.
The 3 tree's in our front yard are nearly done - the tree guys come back this week to finish cutting and the stump guy next week. SO happy to see them gone. A silver maple and 2 black walnut tree's that had roots growing into our sewer and dropped a crazy amount of walnuts every fall (those suckers hurt if you get hit in the head with one!). Now there will be NO tree's in the front yard, so so happy about this and planning my flower gardening already!
I love this thread, it gives me more ideas. Although I'm at the point where my house is super organized (so I just re-organize like a dork) so I've started offering to organize friend/families homes cause I love it so much.

I don't know why I like the look of cake plates so much, but I do. I pulled them out and decided I don't need 6 of them, plus a vintage 2 tier tray. I am donating 2 of the largest ones. I also have 2 bags of clothes, a box of books, and a box of miscellaneous household items to donate.
Being less than 6 weeks out from a move after living in your current house for 35 years is a great motivator!
