Well, today is reveal day for the latest collections from American Crafts. Paige Evans and Vicki Boutin have shared their new collections. They are posted for preorder on A Cherry on Top. I’m not sure if it okay to link to their site.
Vicki Boutin- Sweet Rush; Paige Evans- Splendid; Maggie Holmes- Round Trip; Obed Marshall-Especial; Jen Hadfield- Live & Let Grow. All of these are a hard pass for me. I was hopeful for Paige’s new collection but it is too boho for me. At least I have my Echo Park shipment coming from their latest warehouse sale. Are there any that you love?
Updated: on second thought…..I’ll be ordering a couple of the mixed media products from the VB line. The metallic texture pastes are divine.

You can totally add links to ACOT, no worries. Thanks for the heads-up about the reveal of the new AC collections! I am not attracted to anything except a couple of DCWV pads. I like about half the papers in Rebel for a super graphic mini album but I have no project in mind that would require these so very likely a pass. I kind of like Dessert Blossom, also by DCWV, except for those cactus print sheets. In terms of basic stash replenishment, there are a few interesting bits like the gold foil alpha thickers and puffy heart stickers in Jen Hadfield's Live and Let Grow. I also think the tag ephemera pack, stationary pack and Passport PP from Round Trip by Maggie Holmes for future travels (and returning to regular travel seems like an eternity away in this pandemic, to be honest, so this feels like depressing stuff to buy and hoard right now). I'm intrigued by the glossy (specialty) pink cloud paper from Heidi Swapp's Sun Chaser collection and will look for it when the reveal/haul videos drop on YT. Nothing I must have. A few things I might consider. But I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up buying not a single thing from this round. ETA: Ok, I will likely cave for the disco ephemera pack by Damask Love (Life's a Disco). It's rare to find fun disco stuff in scrapbooking! That disco ball, yaaas... AND THE DISCO BALL PP (I don't even care it's on a pink background)!

The stamps are a must have though, that torn notebook stamp I love. Heidi Swapp Sun Chaser is meh for me too...very washed out and pastel looking and not different enough from her other stuff, even though I love beachy paper. Maggie Holmes and her obsession with swans...Obed M. too pink/pastel, Jen Hadfield, meh... I'm sure I sound like an old crank, but it is all so so pink. Maybe that is just a feature of Spring collections. Oh well, guess that means I can focus on FernWood, lol.

So much pink. Ugh. Looks like this season will be filled with pink, more pink, groovy rainbows and flowers. Not my jam.

Oh my lots of new goodies! I like some of these. I love the MH travel one, but I have literally no travel pics or plans. I actually like the vintage garden one too, but again, no need. The rest I wouldn’t mind picking up bits and pieces of whenever they go on clearance (and when my spending freeze is over).

Wow! This time of the year again! It’s exciting to see new and more expensive (predictable) things. At first sight, everything seems very samey as before, colors, patterns and motifs of the collections as before so if you have previous collections in your stash (like me) then I don’t need more. I will have to look closer at all the items to see if I will pick up anything. I agree that some generic items papers might be good to have. Also glad to see Bo Bunny back and K & Co.

Swans and travel though! Swans and planes, strawberries and roses. Sounds about the same as SC January kits:)

Also Obed Marshall’s collection is the same color scheme as the last 2. I guess this is the winning color combo all year round. I loved his first collection and bought some of it but would love to see a new color palette as pastels are not something that can be used all year round at least by me.

I like parts of VBs line but not all of it. Heidi's new line gives me the vibes from a pale version of Studio Calicos Sundrifter collection. I *loved* that line!

Almost none of it is to my taste, other than a few pieces from the Bo Bunny Willow & Sage collection. I especially love the washi tape in that one (like I need more washi LOL). Most of the collections have waaay too much pink, and too many of the same old elements that are in every other collection. A lot of it is very washed out. Looking at some of them, I feel like someone looked through their Mom's scrapbook from the 70s and copied paper that was around then (faded colors and all)! Just not my taste at all. ETA: Yes, I know the Willow & Sage collection also has a lot of pink, but it's a mauve-y pink and I love the greens that it's paired with. (I use a lot of greens.) The abundance of flowers in that collection will work well with some of my garden pics.

If I didn’t know better I would have guessed that VB was from Amy Tangerine.

I adore the VB line! I hope it makes it JoAnn's. I loved getting lots of Color Theory during the paper sale.

I’m always thrilled to hear about a type of texture paste I don’t have - my faves are TCW Light & Fluffy that I add color to with inks, watercolors or a bit of their Butters - and drying out isn’t an issue. Have you used Vicki’s metallic pastes for a while and they stay soft over time if covered well? Some brands are much better at staying soft than others. I make cards and sometimes don’t use a paste for quite a while. Thanks!

overall a pass from me but AC doesn't tend to be my style
I do like the DCWV cottage place but I don't need it - same with K&Co's paper pad - pretty but I have plenty of florals and butterflies already
I might pick up a sheet of Jen Hadfield's Trail Guide paper to use for DD15's Girl Scout album = her troop does a lot of Orienteering

I like the blue/purple and green papers in the Maggie Holmes collection. I’m currently frozen, but would thaw a smidge just for a couple sheets of paper…

Not surprisingly, nothing is added to my wish list! Paper collections from AC brands aren't my style (ie vintage, floral, pastel, stereotypically feminine, overly themed, odd icons, etc.), clear stamp sets are cheap acrylic, & many embellishments aren't labeled as acid free or archival quality &/or are advertised as stickers but don't stick! The only AC product I've purchased over the past 2+ years is Bazzill cardstock (discounted packs at TM & by the sheet during 10/$2 sales at Joann).

There are several that I like and that I will probably buy when they go on sale at JoAnn's.
There aren't any that I need to pay full price for. I still haven't used the VBs Color Study I bought last year apart from just a few sheets.
Thanks for the links!
ETA, LOL, I ended up ordering 5 sheets of the new stuff with ACOT. But just 5, and only because I needed to pad a purchase I had already decided to make, in order to take full advantage of the shipping before it jumped to the next bracket. I wanted to get some very pretty P13 paper that's been in my cart for a very long time. And it doesn't really count against my spending freeze (chill) because it's going to be either my Valentine's Day gift or my Mother's Day gift ( I haven't decided which yet ). #justifiedwastefulspending

Vicki Boutin - Sweet Rush: I like it but I don't love it and I usually love Vicki Boutin. I will probably get one of each paper- I usually get two. I like some of the embellishments but I don't get the candy focus. Paige Evans - Splendid: Typical Paige Evans. Pretty but nothing I need. Maggie Holmes - Round Trip: Typical Maggie- the travel elements make it not quite as cloying. I see we still have swans, bicycles with flowers, and the Eiffel Tower. Cliche after cliche. Bo Bunny - Willow & Sage: This is really pretty- I'll definitely get a few of the floral papers. I don't like Bo Bunny's embellishments but the papers are really nice. Bo Bunny - Beautiful Things: Not very interesting to me. Jen Hadfield - Live & Let Grow: I don't know what it is with Jen Hadfield. The line is fine, like most of hers but it never really grabs me. Heidi Swapp - Sun Chaser: Yay! Random tiger. (I miss you Amy Tangerine.) I like most of this line. I'll buy two of those Thickers- I really love the font K & Company - Antique Garden: This is very throwback but I think that is why I like it. The embellishments are a little different than other AC lines. I like the frames. Obed Marshall - Especial: He certainly has a color palette, doesn't he? I don't like all of it but I'll buy a couple of the fun papers to mix in with my other Obed Marshall lines. DCWV - Paper Stacks - Pretty boring except the Rebel one and the Vintage one, which are opposite aesthetics but I can see scrapping with either one of those. Wish they had embellishments. Damask Love - Life's A Party - This is cute but it isn't calling to me. I do like the disco ball paper.

I'm really interested in those of you who are saying AC is not your style. American Crafts is all over the place- I see a half dozen styles, from very graphic to very vintage. So many styles...

I'm really interested in those of you who are saying AC is not your style. American Crafts is all over the place- I see a half dozen styles, from very graphic to very vintage. So many styles... For me, to explain why nothing caught my eye, all of the colours are warm toned even if they are cool or pastel shades… warm pastel colours (even if they are blue or green), warm orangey papers, mustard yellows, peach and peachey pink everywhere… even the rebel paper stack has warm reds which I hate. I lived through the eighties once and don’t want to go back. I also can’t stand the current boho vibe and trend in clothes etc so a lot of these won’t suit me. The ones that are cool colour based (Vicki boutin, Paige evans to a degree) don’t have patterns or themes I like at all - Paige Evans is very pretty and floral and Vicki boutin is very abstract and artsy. And I’m neither of those, although if I was to choose I’d go with Vicki. I don’t like weird animal graphics, not into rainbows, have enough floral papers and don’t like vintage in any way except b sides from random collections that are okay colours… but I buy those on sale 😁 Literally the only thing I’m into from everything listed is the roller skate page from the last link, same collection as the disco ball, and even then it’s definitely the wrong colour but I’d probably get it as we skate as a family (yes me included!) so I grab skate based paper when I can. If only they had a purple roller skate paper to match my taffy moxi Lolly skates 😍 and what would I use for pages for my little boy out of all of these collections? I’m not saying I have to use blue and traditional “boy” things but I also don’t want his album full of rainbows and flowers when he’s into football and sport etc… Also not enough black. I like black and am a black based scrapper not a white based scrapper (ie my photos are matted on black backgrounds not white ones etc) 🤣

Wonder if they will have a Crate Paper collection? And yes, there is a lot of floral element in AC collections. I usually love the florals but you can use so many of them on layouts. I wish there was an everyday collection, the hybrid between Ali and AC, also I don’t get why all these collections do not have simple papers, it seems they are all designed to be used in pieces, with cutting machines and on white backgrounds. I love simple papers from FJ, for example, and do not get why these companies do not have simple backgrounds and more basic papers that can be easily cut to 9x12, etc.

I used to buy AC a lot. Now they seem to promote a very feminine vibe in many of their lines. I also don't do much with vintage (unless it is mostly nature), so I often look to the companies that don't overdo it on the pink and feminine/flowery papers. I don't mind flowers at all if it looks like they are in nature. I am sure there will be other lines that come out, but these were just a miss for me. Since unpacking my scrap room and coming face to face with all of my papers, I also realize I don't need a whole lot either.

So many styles... the colours or maybe the colour combinations rarely seem to work for my photos/scrapping. If I'm going to have images on my paper - I want it to theme at least tangentially with what I'm scrapping...rainbows rarely feature in my scrapbook and random animals or other icons don't usually work either. Even the florals - and I like florals - often aren't the right scale or colours. I dunno - it just seems that I rarely like never mind love collections from AC
