I picked up bits and pieces of VB, PE, and HS, but no whole lines this time. This is the first VB line that is a partial miss for me. I think the pieces I picked up from each will make a nice kit when put together. It feels like my choices are narrower and narrower with each release. I can do some pastels and flowers, but I am pretty much maxed out on what I am willing to buy and use. I dropped my kit club subscription for the same reason. I don’t have a lot of pretty, soft topics to scrap, so it doesn’t get used quickly.

Even if I wasn't on a no spend personal challenge, I wouldn't be interested in any of them. None of them spoke to me and that's ok.

I really like the VB line. I will definitely get the paper pad, the metallic texture paste set, and the stencils. I don't use a lot of embellishments and already have some stuff that could work, so I think I'm set there. I usually like Paige Evans' stuff, but this line doesn't do much for me. Everything else looks ok, just not my style.

I'll get a few pieces from the travel collection. The Damask Love line will be perfect my oldest God-daughter's birthday album. Otherwise it's a hard pass for me.

I'm really interested in those of you who are saying AC is not your style. American Crafts is all over the place- I see a half dozen styles, from very graphic to very vintage. So many styles... AC is not my style, mainly because it’s ALL PINK and ALL FLORALS ALL THE TIME, regardless of whether it’s vintage or bright or soft or graphic. So maybe it’s better to say it’s not my taste, vs not my “style.” I also don’t like all the random icons.

Can we start a company to bring back Crate Paper? Three is so much more that can be done with this brand, hire the right designer/s and don't try to just copy the past. If you like Crate Paper, check out Simple Stories new releases. They look like Crate Paper now because they hired the Crate Paper designer. Simple Stories used to be one of my faves, but since I’m not a fan of the Crate Paper style, I haven’t bought any SS since Traci Reed stopped designing for them. I’m excited Echo Park picked her up, although I still wish she’d use less pink. I wish EP would pick up Shimelle - I think it would be a good fit!

For me, the hotel key tag is a WTF icon. It joins mustaches and chandeliers in my cannot figure out how I’d use it pile. I've been wondering where the hotel key trend came from. We stay in hotels often, and have never ever had our room key look like the ones in all the new lines. They're always the plastic card keys. I more commonly see these keys at motels, especially older, non-chain ones, which often still have an actual key for the door.

My DGD has been into rainbows so there are a few pieces I would use, but overall I have plenty of papers just like these and none of them called out to me. Maybe in person at Scrapbook Expo.

I really like the stamp set in the Vicky Boutin line. I like a few of the papers in the Obed Marshal line
I have so much stash, I'm not seeing anything else that feels like a must buy.

Re: plastic motel keys The first collection I can remember that featured them prominently-ish was Here + There by Crate Paper which came out in early 2018. I can't believe 4 years on and we still have them but oh well, here we are...

SS Boho Baby and Celebrate have the Crate Paper vibe (especially Boho Baby). I love the use of white backgrounds as well. I bought a lot of SS Feeling Frosty because it reminded me of CP’s Snow and Cocoa. I don’t even live in a climate where it snows but I just loved the color scheme.

I like Heidi’s line and will buy most of it. I’m using it to specifically scrap 2 beach vacations. I don’t see it working for anything else in my life.

I just cleaned out my craft stash and got rid of stuff and want to get some new stuff but I'm so underwhelmed. Most of the stuff I kept was Crate Paper/Dear Lizzy/Amy Tangerine and I just like that fun, whimsical, goes with anything kind of collection. Paige Evans stuff just isn't for me and I'll prob get some Maggie Holmes but I don't love it. I do like some of the Heidi Swapp stuff.

Those of you who don't recognize the old hotel keys are definitely younger than I am. I remember the first time I got the credit card key it seemed really futuristic. Somebody mentioned Twin Peaks. I think of Schitt's Creek when I see those keys. It is just retro, like the fact scrapbook companies keep releasing paper with cassette's on them for teen lines. Or the fact every household line has 1950 era appliances. And don't get me started on apples for teachers. I like retro but I think scrapbook companies get mired down in certain motifs.

I agree with above that there is a time and place for retro lines as some people might scrapbook their backlog pictures from those times but not very many lines use modern images. Is our time so boring and modern items not worthy of scrapbooking industry? Or is it because copyright laws will go after images of modern phones, cars, credit cards, groceries, etc.? Not very many scrapbook lines are oriented for Everyday layouts, most of them are for one special picture, use the whole ephemera pack layouts, go big or go home. I guess most people Scrapbook special occasions and that’s why the most advertised and popular lines are hearts and flowers.

I was happy to use the retro hotel key...once. But I can't keep using it. Ditto for a whole bunch of other icons. I can't use more scooters, or bikes with a basket (gasp), the Eiffel tower. Couldn't be more true that the companies keep with the same icons way too much. I was happy to see the retro-esqe bus in the new MH travel line--I can use that! But if it comes out again, I doubt it. Maybe a modern train, or a trolley. Just keep thinking and moving forward. I agree--the cassette tape was cute once (but still so hard to use for modern teens!), same with the roller skate, and the 50's kitchen. I'm sure we can make a mega list of these.

Take my Money:
Vicki Boutin - definitely getting the paper & the embellishments; not the stamps or paper clips though. Paige Evans - definitely getting paper and a few of the embellishments - already sent a list to my favorite store owner.
Maybe a few bits, if it's on sale, and I have money burning the proverbial hole in my pocket
Maggie Holmes The two Bo Bunny lines The Jen Hadfield stuff Heidi Swapp Obed Marshall line
No way, no how, not even if it's free

Looking to add the VB paper pad to my preorder cart. Has anyone seen an image of what the contents are for pad? The pad is usually slightly different than the individual papers.

I was looking forward to the new VB line, but I'm going to pass this time. I don't care for the paper colors or patterns.
This is actually good for my budget since I picked up the new Cocoa Vanilla line.

I'm still not sure if I believe it (the price is great if so), but we confirmed a couple of times that the 12x12 pad has two each of all 24 papers in the line, double-sided, exactly like they're sold individually. Hope that helps.

I still run into those old plastic Motel keys in the wild from time to time. I've stayed at 2 Airbnbs that used them, and just picked up a couple in a Miami museum shop that I am going to give my son who is moving into his first apartment. But I don't need more than one sheet of the key paper for those layouts. I think the manufacturers definitely double (and triple) down on these icons and don't know when to move on. I have enough Eiffel Tower paper and stickers to make dozens of Paris layouts.
