And we are to trust the SCOTUS? Gorsuch the only one NOT wearing a mask! ‘Stop getting medical stats from Fox’: Internet erupts after Gorsuch makes false claim about flu deaths to kill vaccine mandateDavid Badash, The New Civil Rights Movement January 07, 2022 Conservative justices on the Supreme Court are making it clear they oppose President Joe Biden's vaccinate or test workplace mandate. Arguments against the OSHA-enforced directive from attorneys arguing the case on the right are being derided on social media, but now the justices themselves are making embarrassing excuses to kill the life-saving federal order. Take Justice Neil Gorsuch, a 54-year old father of two with a Harvard Law degree and a PhD from Oxford. He has zero medical training. (It also appears he's an anti-masker, see below.) And yet, the Trump appointed jurist is handing down medical "information" to support the clear desire of the far right court to end the mandate. www.rawstory.com/stop-getting-medical-stats-from-fox-internet-erupts-after-gorsuch-makes-false-claim-about-flu-deaths-to-vaccine-mandate/

Really? I know some people aren't too trusting of the CDC as of late, however they estimate 12,000 – 52,000 deaths per year from seasonal flu (for the years 2010 to 2020). Source: CDC Seasonal Flu Information
Edited to add: I don't remember adding in that emoji but somehow it feels appropriate!

WTAF?
How ignorant. Thrilled to know that we have that kind of stupid sitting on the bench of the highest court in the country. We (the country as a whole) are really settling in and embracing the laughingstock status we've achieved over this pandemic and the horror show that was 2016-2020.
I repeat...WTAF?

The so-called Spanish flu killed something like 600K Americans in 1919. Other than that, he is way off base, and I expect better of Supreme Court justices. Way better.

He specifically said that 'we have flu vaccines' before he plowed on... So I would consider he was talking about 'todays' flu numbers.

Are non-Americans not people? Is Justice Gorsuch making decisions that apply to non-Americans?

Did he say flu kills 100,000s Americans per year or people per year?
Because if he said people (as in all people), then he’s not wrong 🤷🏻♀️ according to data from CDC and WHO about annual worldwide flu deaths.

Are non-Americans not people? Is Justice Gorsuch making decisions that apply to non-Americans? That has nothing to do with the statement that the flu kills hundreds of thousands of people per year. That's the statement that people are saying is misinformation.

From the short video clip I heard, it's unclear if Gorsuch was talking about Americans dying of the flu or people worldwide. People around the world dying of the flu and covid matter, but I'm not sure a statistic of worldwide deaths is relevant to the court case regarding vaccine mandates in the US.
If he was mistakenly referring to US deaths from the flu, it seems obvious to me why the polling numbers for the Supreme Court are so low. And statements from the conservative justices today clearly illustrate a political bias, despite their claims to be non-political.

That's the statement that people are saying is misinformation. If he was referring to worldwide cases, then he needed to make that clear. This was said during a Supreme Court hearing regarding U.S. vaccine mandates. Worldwide flu deaths would be irrelevant, and if he’s deliberately quoting worldwide flu numbers in comparison to U.S.-only COVID deaths, that’s completely disingenuous. Are you seriously sulking because you think we think non-Americans aren’t people?

I'm not sulking and it's weird that you would think so.
A simple statement that the flu kills hundreds of thousands of PEOPLE. It was characterised as misinformation.
Perhaps you should consider why so many people, including you, seem to have conflated people and Americans, and what that says about you(plural).

You can listen to the oral arguments on YouTube. Just search Cspan live streaming.
I would bring it here but I don’t have a clue how to do it.

But if the attorney arguing the case brought up worldwide Covid deaths in the course of his argument, then it would make sense for the justice to interrupt with a question about worldwide flu deaths.

The whole world vs the US is totally different. They kept saying oh but tuberculosis well we have less than 600 deaths per year in the US vs 1.5 million in the world in 2020 from what I can see - they kept bringing up that more people die from it than Covid or the flu. In this case I think that flu deaths worldwide shouldn't matter - I mean of course they matter but not for what he is talking about he has no influence on the rest of the world. Any mandate we have only effects the US directly. We have no say in what the rest of the world does or doesn't do. Not only that but Covid isn't the dang flu and a lot more have died from Covid than during a bad flu year. So that's irrelevant.

The Supreme Court already decided in 1905 in Jacobson v. Massachusetts that there is no constitutional right to evade a vaccination mandate calculated to protect the community," Georgia State University College of Law professor Anthony Kreis told CNN. "This is why we can permissibly have vaccination requirements for children to attend school, for example." That 1905 Supreme Court decision is seen as the most relevant case supporting the legality of vaccine mandates. Even conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch has signaled that he would vote in favor of the Massachusetts vaccine mandate if the Jacobson case was before the court today.www.cnn.com/2021/09/19/politics/biden-vaccine-mandate-fact-check/index.html

I've also realised what felt weird about your "sulking" comment: it's the kind of thing racists say when their racism is pointed out to them. Perhaps you should reflect on that too.

It's real easy for him and the others opposed to the mandate to sit up there and tell other people that they have to put up with unvaccinated people in their workplace. To even get into the court building, you have to be tested and I'm sure they have plenty of tests. The justices themselves can work from home when not on the bench.
Hypocrites.

Heard?
Initially yes, not so much now about the young adults all. The comments on the about Thomas tweet are a fun read!!
BTW: Nothing cures Covid! Vaccines prevent MOST hospitalizations and/or deaths.
Monochronal anti-bodies help stop the progression in many, I have no idea how long the infusions last though.

Just on MSNBC, Neil Kaytel(?) has appeared before the court during Covid. Everyone is supposed to be masked, tested to enter, frequently tested, the podium has been moved back an additional 15 feet and, of course, no one can attend sessions other then designated participants. And they can appear by video.. They are safe, they do not seem to care about the average working person, particularly those who work with their hands or work up close face to face.. lower paid workers, service workers..
