Someone asked a question, get over yourself. There I fixed it. Zima/Zingermack, I'm sure you're a lovely person IRL, but changing your name and deleting your name off of all your previous posts is annoying, not fascinating. If you think otherwise, you're fooling yourself. Yet it's the topic of post after post on thread after thread.
After 5 years, I wanted to start my post/thread count over. I was open and honest. Didn't create a secret "alter".
And posts like the MANY I've received since dogging me over this decision show that I made a good call. This place is so lovely w/so many great, wonderful peas.
But there are a handful who just exist to keep score and berate others for how/when they post.
If the open (not using an "alter") posting habits of others is that annoying, those who find it so may want to talk to someone about that.

So have many others. But I'm just so fascinating to some that they mark it and call it out - repeatedly. *blushes* I'm so touched. I hardly consider a new user name an alter, particularly when you deleted the prior account AND told us all who you are. Why does this annoy people? Serious question.

I am not sure anyone would really care about the new name and letting people know it was a new name, *if* that action didn’t come with deleting a substantial portion of your prolific posting history here. The way I see it is my post history here is kind of my own personal accountability for my words (good or bad), or my own checks and balances, if you like. Deleting that, and continuing to post in exactly the same way (including bumping old started threads minus the post history) doesn’t really seem to be in the spirit of this community, but that’s just my observation.

I hardly consider a new user name an alter, particularly when you deleted the prior account AND told us all who you are. Why does this annoy people? Serious question. 1. Because in this particular case it leaves a whole lot of threads with "deleted" as the author. And the new name apparently keeps bumping those old posts (which in the past I had blocked) but because she "deleted" they no longer are blocked. NBD but yes, annoying. 2. Because Zima is not owning her history here. Why else would she do this? If it was just for a simple name change, we all can do that while still retaining our past posts here. Her action lacks sincerity IMHO. ETA: or I could have just waited for sassyangel to post

I actual had a hmmm… moment after @zima changed her name. Like most, there are times I’ve said more than I should have about personal stuff. If I dropped dead tomorrow I don’t think I’d want my husband to read though all that. I wouldn’t be trying to hide myself, just erasing my history, which in my case wouldn’t be a big loss to this board. I’m not keeping any spreadsheets other than the Christmas cards.

I think the community aspect of this discussion is interesting. There is a value to being a certain way that people don’t want to give up. Every time I talk about “my scrap board” my friends and family act as if I’m talking about imaginary friends 😄. It’s hard to explain that yes, you never know about anonymous people on the internet but yes, I’m sure there is a valuable community here.

I’m not annoyed by it at all, I just don’t think the deleting of post history is something that should really be done. For the reasons I stated above. People are free to disagree with that though, for whatever reason.

And after another 5 years and 20,000+ more posts, I may do it again - in case you want to make any plans based on my posting habits. I don't get being SO INVESTED in other peas' posting histories. And why not the chastisement to the many others who've done the EXACT same thing - and, no I will not be dogging them about it by naming them?

Does anyone remember a pea who accidentally outed herself? I *think* maybe scrappower but it was like a mystical looking avatar. In that case, I remember both posters as innocuous and not trolls. Some peas even tried to talk her into coming back, no hard feelings.
I think some non-troll peas have multiple accounts but I’m not sure why. I could maybe see a reason to separate political opinions from an account on the scrapping board where you don’t want people associating you will Trump/Biden/Whatever when you’re just trying to find an adhesive to make the damn ribbon stick.

I remember that. There was a pile on, but I don’t remember the details. Some Peas are very sharp-eyed and notice everything. I often miss things, but that is probably due to an aversion to details.

When you delete your entire account all your posts say deleted and no one can search them out or know which deleter posted them.

Other people have changed their names on pro boards, I don’t think their post history disappeared. But I’m not really sure on that. Can’t remember the last time someone did that. It’s funny, I use Tapatalk, so I often see the Tapatalk account name for someone which sometimes happens to be different from the proboards pea name. So I’m well and truly used to that alternate pea name confusion, already. 😂 Edit! Skellinton is one of them! 😂 Thank god for her avie which is a dead giveaway no matter what name I see, if I temporarily forget.

They didn’t delete their old name completely and then in the next breath open a new account. They didn’t “take a break” and come back. She simply decided (in her own way) not to own her previous posting history.

Why has a thread about alters become a referendum on Zima? She’s right; it’s been brought up on many threads.
I believe people here have previously done what she did. When creating a new account, they either deleted their old account or just let it go fallow. Like her, it wasn’t a secret or an attempt to deceive. I think the difference here is her habit of bumping her own threads. It’s a sore spot with many and is attracting even more attention/confusion now.
But, c’mon, it’s nowhere in the same category as yesterday’s alter…or our resident serial alter creating buds that would follow her around liking/commenting. (Besides the creepy factor, just imagine the tabs you have to keep open to talk to yourself yourselves like that.)

I admit that I had alters at one point. (I've admitted this before, btw, for you spreadsheet keepers.)
I was a few of the Star Wars alters. (Darth Cropper, Luke Skycropper, Gluebacca). The point was to make people laugh. 😁

I am the first to admit I am terrible with names but I honestly don't remember anyone deleting an account and immediately starting a new one. Most people delete accounts after getting upset about something. Maybe they don't hair flip but they flounce off for a little while and then they come back after a period of time and they create a new account. I honestly can't think of anyone that did it immediately and certainly not with such a weird excuse as "New Year, new me" when they're posting exactly the same. Honestly most come back, I think, pretending that they aren't the person we all know they are. Ilovetocolor, for example. That is one name I do remember and it was pretty obvious, as much as they denied it, that they were Lauren. I am probably wrong since I don't remember names very well, which is why I asked, have there been people who deleted an account and immediately created a new one?

I am probably wrong since I don't remember names very well, which is why I asked, have there been people who deleted an account and immediately created a new one? Almost immediately. I know of two. In both cases, they walked after bad conversations on NSBR, and then thought about it for a couple of days, decided it was an overreaction on their part, and signed back on with a new account. ETA, I'm very glad they came back

AN and before that AshleyNicole, was an asshole under her regular ID but for reasons I’ll never understand, she got a pass. For the record her mother was a dick too. Pot meet kettle. You're an old pea with a new name who admitted on the old board you liked to be a shit stirrer. But on this board your excuse is your old name had too much identifying information and you told me I was stalking you and to stop it. If you weren't a hypocrite, I wouldn't respond. Moved recently?

I don’t remember names, but I think I remember people announcing it. Could be I’m muddled and they just changed their name within the same account. (Can you do that?). Regardless, I don’t get why it’s attracted so much attention. Maybe she has a private reason why she wants a new start. Maybe she got wigged out about the sheer amount of herself she’s left on the internet. Or maybe it’s just what she’s explained - repeatedly. Her business, really. We’ve been fine with name changes in the past; I don’t agree that this is that different, but probably because I don’t agree that, as a community, we need access to someone’s posting history for archival reasons. But moving on to real alters, I'm chuckling because you made me remember that I was among the few who didn’t think ILoveToColor was Lauren…or I thought it was Lauren newly using spell check. Lauren was a godawful speller. LOL.

My first account was under "@ ryannmarin" but was visible as "Ryann". I kept getting tagged incorrectly on the scrapbooking boards (I participate in the challenges). I created this account so I would be tagged correctly and not miss things. I didn't announce it as my avatar stayed the same (I have since changed it) and I don't think I'd be someone that would be missed. My original account still exists. All good!
