I came back to scrapbooking around 2011-12. I only remember Basic Grey from the Carte Postale release in 2013. I always associate BG with beige/neutrals, a bit grungy, ledger papers, numbers and typography. Looking at their releases they remind me of old skool Studio Calico in their heyday.
I actually bought the Urban Luxe collection pack to scrap my kitchen reno. I always forget it’s BG.

I love BG too and still have 6 or 7 collection packs. It's all on a shelf with some SEI collections. The 3 collections I did manage to use a lot of were Black Tie, Basics and Romani( Gypsy). I never used some of my collections because I didn't know what to do with it. I just bought because it was pretty. Now that I've learned more mixed media techniques and fussy cutting I think its time to pull it out and use it! You know, that's a really good point about the mixed media. I have quite a bit of Basic Grey and I was just going to get rid of it because it's not really to my taste anymore - but I could use it for mixed media. I could try out the gesso and sprays techniques, for instance, and really make my papers how I like them. It's perfect for that. TFS!

I always associate BG with beige/neutrals, a bit grungy, ledger papers, numbers and typography. So much of their stuff wasn't like that at all. There were so many pretty color palettes in their collections. I was trying to look up their old lines- does anyone know where there is a full list? I have stuff from over 30 of their collections and a good deal of those used to be full lines. My absolute favorites: Lime Rickey- Beautiful bright colors- has been great for kid layouts Origins- My favorite non-themed line for scrapping the zoo. I have used so much of it and once I found another whole pack at Tuesday Morning and I thought I won the lottery. Kioshi- Such pretty purples. My problem with using this line is that I hate to cover up the paper. I've made a couple of beautiful layouts with this. Green at Heart- Magentas and greens. I've used this a bunch. Great for garden pictures. Highline- Oh, I just love this one- yellows, pinks, oranges, and black. That was when brush style writing was new. I've used this one so much. Hipster- Ok, this one is mostly neutrals but it was perfect for boy layouts. It seemed particularly hip for the time. Black Tie- Way, way back at the beginning. I've never found another all black and grey line. I dug some of it out for a layout this year. Max & Whiskers- Only the best pet line ever. So pretty, not cutesy, not primary colors, not pink, and had lots of pets besides dogs and cats. I'm starting to run out of this and it makes me sad. Indian Summer- Again, one of the lines where the paper is so pretty I hate to cover it up. onI couldn't find the name of some of the old lines on the web. There were some more lines that I just loved but I haven't found their names yet. Remember when some lines were exclusive to Joann? I can't remember what they were called but I bought a ton of it and it makes such nice pages. I miss when there were lots of non-themed lines, just pretty palettes.

I was trying to look up their old lines- does anyone know where there is a full list? If you're on fb the I Love Basic Grey group has a pretty comprehensive list including photos in their Albums section here. I can't recall if this group needed approval to join. There were way more lines than I remembered. Interestingly, lines that I either don't really remember from the time or only bought a couple of pieces from are now lines I find super usable. I mostly passed over Hipster when it was released but now I love so much of that collection.

Was there a “Capture” and “Carte Postale”? Or am I making that up? Lol
I love basic grey. I never got the entire collection of PB&J or Marjolaine. Some of my favorite papers are in those collections. There is a red crosshatch pattern in PB&J that I absolutely love. And I’m hoarding the few I have.
Sorry I’m rambling. But, that basic grey….❤️❤️❤️❤️

I just bought a 6x6 BG paper pack on Amazon for fun. I don’t remember the line and some of the papers in it aren’t my jam and there are some birdhouses lol but it will be fun to use anyway since I love the love combo (aqua/light blue, red, yellow, black). I loved Bg back in the day and it will be fun to work with it again. Well boo. I just got a message today saying they “sold out” of the basic grey pads (there were supposedly 2 when I ordered so I won’t be getting it after all.

That’s the first line I knew as basic Grey.

I'm not in the US so I could be completely off base, but there were a couple of lines that had two parts that I think were sold at J's: Fact and Fiction, and the Hey Boy and Hey Girl lines.

All this Basic Grey chatter has me missing the company even more! I had stopped scrapbooking for a few years that ended up being the last few years of Basic Grey as a company. They have so many gorgeous patterns and colors! I wish I had gotten Lauderdale. That’s one of my BG unicorns.

I have pads for Fact and Fiction and parts of the Hey Boy line, too. I really loved both Fact and Fiction. Other lines I have include Oxford (wish I had more of that), PB&J, Blush, Color Me Silly, and Obscure (that was a weird one, but fun).
