Does anyone else think your word could invite a whole mess of things you don't want, almost like the universe is testing you with. your word? No? Just me? My word is peace and holy heck....I feel like the world is throwing all the bad things in life at me to see if I *actually* want to try feeling peace instead of panic, heartache, being overwhelmed, etc. Or maybe I am just noticing I should should try to find peace with certain situations. Whatever the case, I feel like the universe if making me actively try and chose to have peace in situations this week. Yes! My "word" is >> "Taking care of me". So far, if feels like I am doing everything but that. I am taking care of me in small ways (drinking enough water, sleeping, working at keeping boundaries in place, etc...) but all the things on the list in my mind, are not happening or getting done. I feel like I'm a contradiction of >> floundering and wandering, while simultaneously going full speed ahead. My full plate of....... this, that and the other thing, plus curve balls coming out of nowhere, pot holes, detours, etc.... are impeding my flow. This too, shall pass. Today is only the 25th day of the year, but so far....it's like hurry up and wait.

Its February 1, my OLW friends! How are you doing with your word? Finding meaningful ways to connect to you word? Have you listened to this months lesson? Thoughts?
I haven't listened to it just yet, but will this week. I've been fighting with my word (peace) for most of January but have decided no more. Time for action. I have silenced calls and not returned texts that I know are going to not bring peace. This is huge for me, as I usually am quick to reply (and get flustered).
For February I am getting back into working out. We had some home improvements done last month so my workout room was tied up but now that's over, I can get back to my Peloton that I have been neglecting. I *do* find so much peace when I work out early in the morning so I am really going to focus on that. I am continuing with my journal as well.
So, how are you doing?

I’m trying to remember my word throughout the week, but it’s hard without my supplies. First world problem, I know.
I chose PRESENT this year (and I don’t normally do OLW). I feel like I’ve been somewhat disconnected and always on my phone when I should be engaging more with my husband and especially little Pancakes.
It’s more of a reminder to not try to do everything and focus on what’s important and what’s at hand.

I’m loving my word, breathe. It’s amazing how easy it has been to connect to it. I just listened to this months lesson. I think I might struggle with the “vision” but I’m going to try and embrace it.

I am struggling with my 1%. And it's because I think one week I bit off more than I could chew as far as a goal went. I listened to James Clear podcast interview and I have decided the goal was just too big. I need to scale it back. And so, I've been thinking about how I can do that.
A month in and I'm already reevaluating my goals. Am I to fall off this train?

A month in and I'm already reevaluating my goals. Am I to fall off this train? I don't think you're off the train at all! Your OLW goal was 1% - and the expectation was that you'd add in something, a little at a time. But what if this weeks lesson is that its OK NOT to add more --- even 1%? That doesn't mean you've flunked. It means you are learning that for that *one* thing, adding more isn't going to work right now. Maybe you added in 1% to another area of life, like pouring into your girls, Jeremy. Your lesson could also be that maybe decreasing your load, for a time being, by 1%, is what will be most helpful. Thats ok too. Still not a failure and in my mind, that makes you more of a success. Knowing when too much is too much is a skill that not enough people have developed. I hope what I am trying to say is coming across....LOL. Just know, you aren't failing.

A month in and I'm already reevaluating my goals. Am I to fall off this train? Sounds to me like you hit the first revelation on your path: 1% is sometimes 1% less. Adding on even little bits here and there does exhaust one very quickly and adds up eventually. 1% is also about editing out the small stuff that is just making you sweat too much. This is a very OLW lesson everyone learns somewhere along the way (and then again and again). You've got this!

I'm a terrible mess when it comes to setting up lofty goals and then not being able to accomplish them and then beating myself up over them. The whole point of the book Atomic Habits is to learn NOT to do that. LOL! So I've got to let it flow. Maybe just spending some time practicing my goals before adding in another.

I finally got my OLW order yesterday!
I planned to do the journal this year because it seemed easier. I wish it were spiral bound like OLW journals in the past.
I saw Krystal Idunate is doing the OLW journal, but are there any others y’all can think of who also are using the OLW one?
I usually do an album so I think I’ll need some inspiration 😅

I saw Krystal Idunate is doing the OLW journal, but are there any others y’all can think of who also are using the OLW one? I'm on the fence about whether to use the journal or album. I ordered both. I also ordered the mini kit so I wanted to see just how thick all the elements from the kit are before I decide. I don't want to get in a situation where its ridiculously lumpy. So I'm leaning toward the album.

Am I late? I have had a word since AE started offering the class on BPC. I have bought the class a couple of times over the years. I never finished it, mainly because tasks like 'moodboards' or 'mixed media' are just not my thing and holding me back. This year I'm trying again, using my old class prompts and trying to use up old(er) product from SBTM. For this year I'm having two words 'less' and 'more'. Up to now it works well. January is done and in the album. February is being worked on.

I am a big believer of 'take what you need' from Ali's OLW class -- and if the moldboards + mixed media projects aren't your style then drop 'em! I do think there is some value in stretching and doing something new, but if its just not you, then I wouldn't waste a single minuet worrying about It & do your own thing instead!

I'm having two words 'less' and 'more'. I think this is a super cool idea. I'm in that phase of my life right now where I'm really debating what I can do without and what I definitely want more of. I could totally take these words on a trip this year. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

January is done and in the album. February is being worked on. I really like the idea of having two related words. This project is so personal, so I think it makes sense to do it in a way that is meaningful for you. I've been doing this project since 2015, but there were a couple of years when I did very little. 2021 was the first year in which I completed all of the prompts (although I did modify the mixed media projects). I had considered not taking the class this year and just using the older prompts, but I was lured back in with a 20% discount. I enjoy hearing from different presenters and seeing a diversity of styles and perspectives. I did not purchase any of the physical items this year since I have plenty of materials in my stash already. This year, there are "alternatives" to the vision board, so I think the activity didn't resonate with a lot of people. I do like the traditional vision board, but I think I do it differently than some. I don't always know why I'm choosing a picture or a quote, but in the end, it seems to reveal something about my subconscious feelings and wishes. Almost every vision board I've created features a picture of a woman stretching or doing yoga, but it's only now that I have a regular stretching and yoga practice. My word this year is Magic, and I'm still trying to understand my word.

Almost every vision board I've created features a picture of a woman stretching or doing yoga, but it's only now that I have a regular stretching and yoga practice. Ha, ha, that was me too. As there are hardly any magazines in my life I did find some pics on the internet that I'm trying to merge into one big one (including a yoga practice, but only because I did get in the habit of practicing regularly) and then I'm planning to print in 4x6 and 3x4 photos because I have dedicated a full 12x12 project page to OLW (trying to also use up those page protectors). I read about the mind map as an alternative. I think this has been around a couple of years ago already and I actually did something similar in January to 'introduce my two words' into my year/album.

I just finished the January prompt and it felt good to get it in the books. I need to figure out how I want to document my vision board in my album but I made it digitally so should be pretty easy to do. Happy I'm on track, at least so far.

I ended up doing a mind map and really enjoying it. I think it would also help to do ahead of a vision board bc the words you come up with may help visualize pictures to include.

Holy cow! I received my kits on Thursday, and today I finished January's prompts. I did do a lot of planning and thinking before the kit came in, but kind of petered out. So this weekend, I will work on the February prompts, and hopefully get back on track. And then I can get back to work on December Daily. I'd hoped to have it done before the Day in the Life on March 10, but now I think I will be happy to have it done before Week in the Life. Since my December shipment is scheduled to arrive on Sunday, I can get cracking on Project Life 2022. Woo Hoo for accomplishing things (and enjoying it).

Checking in ---
I got my supplies and let me tell you -- I have been so inspired. Not that the supplies themselves were all that, but knowing everything is all together and ready has inspired me. LOL I did pick up a book to read this month that relates to my word Peace. The book is "Peace is a Practice' by Morgan Harper Nichols. I have always loved her work and I am excited to work through this book. It isn't too long. Perhaps this book is helping with my inspiration...
My word is showing up almost daily. I don't know that choosing peace is always my first choice, but I am choosing peace more than I normally would.
I have gotten January prompts done and will start my vision board tomorrow. I got my monthly dividers done & I love them! I also have been working on the front of my album. I found an iron on patch and will be adding it to the front. Super simple. For my actual album, I am using old Felicity Jane papers in black, white, yellow, pink, salmon, and orange. Various shades and patterns, but they all work together. DH calls them my 'ice cream' palette. LOL I pulled some papers and a few embellishments (focusing on hearts + butterflies) and through them in a basket. When I work on my album, the supplies I am limiting myself are the ones in my basket to avoid having too much to choose from. It all coordinates and works together.
So my plan this week is to start February and get it done. I go on vacation in two weeks and want to be caught up before we leave.
How are you doing? Is your word showing up for you?

I love how your word is showing up for you mom! I'm so glad your supplies are inspiring you now that they've finally arrived. I need to check out that book, it sounds really good. We've lost out bids for two different "home(s)" in the past week and a half. I'm hoping "home" in a more literal sense will show up soon. Anytime now would be great. In the meantime, trying to make our short term rental have some touches that make it feel like home. I picked up a couple of cozy blankets and set-up some of my scrappy supplies in the corner of the dining room. It's starting feel a bit more like home.

I'm glad kits have arrived and inspiration along with it. For my vision board, I used a simple 8x11 white cardstock, and then shopped my crafty stash for inspiratio, my word is Open. I used orange/pink colors, which really isn't my usual. Doing so, I used up some ephemera that I normally would not use. It was fun and simple, I'll snap a pic later and add in.
