What do you think Mitch McConnell meant by this quote?

Why don't you tell me what he got right about Afghanistan, I imagine the list is very short.  

I don’t see how that could be. He carried out Trump’s plan practically to the letter. 🤔

You realize that the majority of Americans favored getting out of Afghanistan.

This isn’t solely Biden’s cross to bear either. This war is 20 years in the making. Who got us there?

Trump was a fucking coward in creating an exit plan to fall outside his term. He didn’t want the political fallout. He also created precarious situations that made the pull out more dangerous. Trump and his administration made awful for US deals with the Taliban. Let that sink in. During trumps administration, the Taliban took over 1/3 of Afghanistan and then he made deals that allowed for the release of over 5,000 Taliban fighters, who quickly regrouped and had taken over control of the country.

And it is so hypocritical for your type to call it a fuck up when the United States military and its leaders should be applauded for getting the US out of what was going to be a never ending war.

So spare us the smug bullshit of blaming Afghanistan on Biden, when it’s been the Republicans who set it up, fucked it up, and made bad faith deals.

Weird that Obama made the comment leading up to the 2020 election, long after him and joe went their separate ways. It’s like he knew more, a lot more, about Joe than we did.

Again just rumors. And the rumor was referring to the election, not to Biden’s ability as the president. And we all know exactly who f%cked up the election. Hint - it wasn’t President Biden. He won the election.

And both President Obama and Michelle endorsed President Biden and campaigned for him.

The jobs report is only one sign that the economy is doing well under President Biden.  Americans might feel like it’s not going well because of inflation and supply chain issues, but lots of indicators show the economy is strong.

average earnings are up

the stock market is up

jobless claims are at an all time low

the economy was expected to grow 5.7%

the wealth of the bottom 50% grew this year

100% correct!! And Hawley, Cruz et al supported the withdrawal, spoke out about doing it until Biden did it!!

“Asked @leadermcconnell about concerns voters of color have about voting rights. “The concern is misplaced,” said McConnell, “because if you look at the statistics, African-American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans."”

eta: in McConnell’s mind, Americans and African-Americans are two different types of people, because African-Americans aren’t Americans like the rest of the white American population. 

This is really starting to feel like a deflection and distraction from McConnells false, offensive, racist comments.  Anything but admit that a Republican might have done or said something wrong.

Yes, I acknowledged that inflation and supply chain issues continue to be a problem.  That doesn’t change or negate all of the facts that I posted about a strong economy.

The White House is aware that inflation is a problem, especially for lower income families.  They are trying to work on that, but a president’s powers to decrease inflation are pretty limited.  The Fed is expected to raise interest rates in 2022 which will help.

Back home in Kentucky, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Charles Booker tweeted, “Being Black doesn’t make you less of an American, no matter what this craven man thinks.” Booker, who is Black, unsuccessfully ran for McConnell’s seat in 2020 and is challenging GOP Sen. Rand Paul this year.

“Hey @leadermcconnell,” tweeted Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison, who is Black, “...for your information, I’m also an American!”

Nothing on how Biden got Afghanistan right? 

Even if you give McConnell the benefit of the doubt that he meant to say all Americans, his statement is still false and misleading. He also completely ignored other people of color including Asian Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans.

The census shows that 71% of eligible white voters cast a ballot in 2020, compared with 63% of eligible African Americans. In 2016, 65% of white voters cast a ballot, versus 60% of Black voters.

I’m not inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. His statement was made immediately after 50 Republicans with the possible exception of Lisa Murkowski, voted against voting rights. After Republican legislatures in 19 states passed voter suppression laws targeted at people of color.
