Is Abbott deliberately trying to set the bar really low, so if Texas loses power, he can say, well, I did warn you?? His statement 2 months ago was really unrealistic. As far as I know, no northern governors have ever promised power would stay on in the winter. They talk about how they're ready with crews, utility trucks etc but how can you guard against extreme weather and avoid power outages?

Right. We are getting a winter storm, and there are no guarantees about power. The crews do manage to do a stellar job restoring it 99% of the time, but that has nothing to do with the governor.

I think that maybe this is how you say that you didn’t fix the grid without actually admitting it.

Jan 6th famous fist pumper Sen Hawley wants to stop Biden from encouraging Ukraine joining NATO. Why? Shouldn't he be answering the Committee's questions rather than asking them of anyone?

Hawley sent Blinken a series of questions that he asked for responses to by Feb. 28, including over how the security of the North Atlantic area could benefit from a prospective Ukrainian membership in NATO.

The Missouri senator said “it is not clear that Ukraine’s accession would serve U.S. interests.” He noted that the global context has changed since statements made during a 2008 Bucharest summit in which the U.S. and others voiced their support for prospective NATO memberships for Ukraine and Georgia.
