You can tell it’s a mid-term election year. All kinds of fucking insane bills being thrown around to keep their base happy. Absolutely disgusting.

How could anyone vote for this. My aunt almost died because of an eptopic pregnancy. It’s not like you can carry to term with one. Totally nuts.

Well, I’d be dead.
My first pregnancy was ectopic: the fertilized egg had adhered itself to my abdominal wall. To compound the heartbreak of that time - the surgeries, the confusion etc… with this foolishness is repulsive.

Sigh. I remember in the early days several Trump supporters insisting “social” issues were settled and they could vote Trump and R in good conscience solely based on “fiscal conservative” principles. And here we are a few short years later…

These are clearly men who could not identify female organs on a chart.

Everyone once in a while, when I sit and think about it, I am stunned that we have ended up here in a society that is again actively punishing women, simply for being women with all of our biological functions.
I am now just waiting for the push to repeal the 19th Amendment.
I remember all the conversations here at 2Peas with all the conservative peas accusing the left-leaning peas of hysteria and drama over fears that Roe v Wade would be overturned and that abortion would be made illegal again. That it was completely off the table as far as conservative legislators were concerned. That were were being over-the-top in our concerns and fear-mongering.
And yet, here we are.

There's a woman, Mary Elizabeth Coleman, who's helping. She wants to prosecute people who go out of state, especially to Kansas or Illinois, to have an abortion.
At this point it doesn't matter if they're male or female, the Rs are all going for moving backwards and getting headlines.

These are clearly men who could not identify female organs on a chart. They clearly also need a few lessons on the birds and the bees not to mention what would happen to the woman if that embryo wasn't removed pretty quickly from that fallopian tube.

And.... "Missouri bill would allow lawsuits against those who help women obtain abortions out of state A Missouri lawmaker wants to stop residents from obtaining abortions outside the state by allowing lawsuits to be filed against anyone who helps them. Rep. Mary Elizabeth Coleman, an Arnold Republican, has proposed a measure that would make performing an abortion on a Missouri resident — or helping a Missouri resident get one — illegal. Like a similar law in Texas, the prohibitions could only be enforced through lawsuits filed by citizens. State government would have no enforcement authority. The U.S. Supreme Court has, for now, allowed the Texas law to remain in effect while courts consider challenges to it. But Coleman’s measure goes further by asserting authority over what happens outside of Missouri." www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article259208848.htmlThis is what the GOP in MO sit around wasting their time on while the world burns and wars.

This is so disgusting. I can't even find proper words. Apparently the dumbasses who think "aborting" an ectopic pregnancy should be a felony have zero idea what an ectopic pregnancy is. Apparently, they don't know that there is NO way to save the baby, and by not removing it, the mother will eventually bleed to death. I know so many women who have had ectopic pregnancies, and to think of them all being dead because of an outrageously ridiculous law like this makes my blood boil. Pro life party??? What about the mother who will lose HER life all in defense of a baby who can't survive anyway?
I live in Missouri, and I despise our lawmakers.

I literally said, “Are you f*****g kidding me?” And I’m literally SMDH. These people writing these bills are insane. I’m lucky to live where I do, and that if something happened to my DD we have the resources to help her, but still. This is totally Handmaid’s Tale in real freaking life. We have every reason to be hysterical over shit like this. I just can’t even anymore.

I want to see my newly Republican DD defend this one. She had an ectopic. Had to have surgery. Look what they are doing now, honey, the party that cares so much. HA!
It really is very scary though. Yes very Handmaid's Tale.

Yes very Handmaid's Tale. My cousin and his wife are big time Trumpers. They live in Missouri and she had an ectopic pregnancy several years ago. I would be interested to see their thoughts on this and how they would most likely defend it. I stopped following them on FB, though.

What the actual hell? They truly must not have a clue given there is absolutely no way for this to be a viable pregnancy. (I'm even leaving out all that silly risking the mother's life part...)
Disgusting. This accomplishes nothing except more deaths.

Women just need to protest by cutting men off. No more sex. My ODS and I were just discussing this at lunch. He lives just south of the MO state line so a lot of people he knows have family there. Anywho, we were discussing and he said what you said. Women should protest and cut the guys off. To which I replied no, that wouldn't work. The big beefy husbands would still see sex as their right and that it is the woman's duty to give themselves freely to their husbands. When they didn't they would just take it. Resulting in rape and possibly another baby that would have to be born.
