HURRAH. WA state has been waiting (seemingly) forever for this to happen. Wouldn't it be lovely if this last weekend was the last time we had to deal with this? Three days in to the time change and I'm STILL struggling - it's never been this bad for me before.

Three days in to the time change and I'm STILL struggling - it's never been this bad for me before. Me too! I don't normally struggle much with it, I just hate it on general principal, but this year it has been awful. 3 of my coworkers were saying the same thing. We all were wide awake between 2-3 am Monday morning after sleeping fine the night before. We had 6 kids absent yesterday out of 20! All of them were just too tired for Prek. I don't recall that ever happening before. I wonder what is making it worse this year.

Good luck. That's what Canada needs, a federal not provincial decision. Alberta brought it up awhile ago, it was shot down. Then a few years later BC brings it up, 2 things were they are already far behind eastern time this would make it worse and our neighbours next door just voted no so that's tough for many people. Then Alberta brought ot up again and acutally let the people vote on it in the last election, it was almost a 50/50 split. I'm sure other provinces have brought it up. Except Saskatchewan they don't change.
I'd rather be on winter time all the time. If we stayed on DST then in the winter it wouldn't start getting bright until after 10am, that's sad. But most people don't live this far north. Summer doesn't matter, it's hardly dark.

Of course, that will mean that it's light here by 4 am in the summer (Brussels is roughly the same latitude as Winnipeg), but that's better than dawn at 9:30 am in the winter!

I don't really care what time they stick to as long as they stick to one time.

I find it so depressing when it's dark at 5PM. Let's stay on this time! We voted to do this in CA, it passed, nothing ever came of it.

Same in WA state, and the reason nothing became of it here is because it needs federal approval. As a PP said, I'm actually fine either way, but I am tired of switching the time twice a year!

Change it 1/2 hour and never touch it again. I don't understand the whole kids going to school in the dark thing as a reason to mess with the clock. My dd's leave for the bus stop at 6:25 am, it was just starting to get light out as they left the house last week, now with moving the clock forward they're going to school in the dark again... Middle school DS gets home at 5 pm and has been walking home from the bus stop in the dark since November... maybe leave the clocks alone and change school hours

They stated that during the year we voted. That while it may pass in the state, it still had to pass under the federal government and that it could take 5 years or so. That was pre covid so..m

I wouldn't mind leaving it as it is now (daylight savings). I like that it's lighter longer in the evenings

If we're going to stop changing clocks, I want to always be Daylight Savings. It gets dark at 4:30 - 4:45 in the Winter here, and I'm not a fan.

Yes!!!! I'm so glad this might finally happen! MichyM and Skellinton, I'm still struggling too, and have been since Sunday! Have not slept well since the changeover, and yesterday I was like a zombie. My adventures in zombieland: I went to do a couple of errands yesterday, and in the course of things, I dropped a glass air freshener plug-in (BBW wallflower) and of course it shattered all over the floor, coating my clothing with the perfume-y scent of "ocean". Nice scent but not when you're infused with it! Luckily no one was injured, and the store cleaned it up (and thankfully didn't make me pay for it) - no harm no foul, except that I'm a klutz (well, I already knew that, lol). Fast forward to when I finally get home from the remaining errands, which included picking a few things up from the grocery store. DH unloaded the bags from the car, then asked where the milk was...I said it wasn't in the bags, it was separate - did you get it out of the car? He informed me there was no gallon of milk in the car...which is when I remembered that I never transferred it from the cart to the car after I put the 3 bags in my trunk. I just returned the cart willy nilly, evidently with the gallon of milk still sitting in it, in the lower section where I didn't remember I had put it 90 seconds beforehand. <SMH> I shouldn't be allowed out, LOL. DH had to go back to the store. SO yes, I'm all for no more time changes, just leave us on DST, please!

Their theory is that stress is making it worse since we're all under extra stress this year. Even if one's life is going along totally rosy and problem-free (and whose life is like that? lol) there's the news with Russia.

Isn’t Arizona on standard time year round so if this passes that will really be a shock to them.
I’m not a fan of the dark mornings in winter so I like standard time better but I know I am in the minority. I think stress is why it has been so hard this time for the change. I was awake until 230 the other night. It wasn’t pretty.

I'm on the same latitude as Edinburgh. In the summer it's dark by 11:30 pm and light by (I don't know, I'm not up) 3:30 or 4 am. It never gets totally dark. If we're going to stop changing clocks, I want to always be Daylight Savings. It gets dark at 4:30 - 4:45 in the Winter here, and I'm not a fan. What time does it get light in the morning? Here it's 9:30 am and dark by 4:30 pm. As much as I love springing ahead and getting the evening light. 10:30 am winter sunrise seems pretty bad. It takes another hour to get over the trees and houses to shine into my house for a brief period. I wonder if this is true for all mountain, and even pacific, time zone people? Or just Canadians? Probably not so bad the further south you go into the US because the sunrise is close to the wake time. arts.ucalgary.ca/news/circadian-rhythm-expert-cautions-albertans-against-permanent-daylight-savings-time

I guess people enjoy it being dark until 9am in the winter. That would be worse for your body than changing time. I really hope this doesnt pass.

For SoCal, the change wouldn’t be too drastic. On Dec 21st, it would get dark just before 6, and then on June 21st it would start getting dark after 8. I just want to stop changing the clocks so I hope it goes through.

This topic is always so interesting to me because we actually don't observe Daylight Savings Time in Hawaiʻi. We just have to adjust the time difference when dealing with people outside of our state. I donʻt think Iʻd like having to adjust my sleep schedule twice a year either, though.

I like the idea of it being light longer in the evening, but don't want that to mean that it is dark long into the morning. If only we could just make it summer all year long.
