I know we've discussed at length some of the more annoying sayings, like "Best Day Ever!", etc...but some scrapbook supply sayings strike me as just...odd. I bought the Prima Golden Desert Journaling cards (which are just beautiful) but one of the cards has the saying, "Step into the Daylight." What does that even mean? Are we living in caves? Are we vampires? Is this a reference to being homebound for Covid? I googled the phrase and all I could find was a reference to a Taylor Swift song that says, "Step into the daylight and let it go." So maybe a send off for negative thoughts? Anyone else find puzzling phrases on scrapbook supplies? C362FFB2-46A9-425D-AED8-84D06E8036CE by K Mage, on Flickr

I can't think of any phrases at the moment (I'm sure I have some I won't think of them until I hit post) but the word 'bloom' always stumps me along with the word 'hello.'
I have no idea what 'step in into the daylight' means either.

I would use "step into the daylight" for my teenager who sleeps all day and is up all night. I'm not sure that's what it was intended for, though.

That is strange, kmage. Your comments did make me laugh, though. Personally, I think it's strange to give someone a card with the words "Be Kind" on it. I would find it a bit insulting if someone sent me one.

I mean, if you have to be told that lol...although I might be tempted to send them to a few people I know who could use a reminder.

The Simple Stories board game line has a tag that says So, Sorry with a game piece icon on it and then there is a cut apart that says Sorry (not sorry). Unless you won a really epic game against someone, I don't know how you would use either of these. I get that it's "punny" but still kind of difficult to actually use. I'm glad the back side of the tag is a wordless blank version I can use any way I want. On the other hand if your friend/enemy who board games lost their game collection... then I guess you could use whichever one applies

I personally don't like the phrase "this was magic"/"You are magic" etc. Maybe for Disneyland, but if I'm scrapping a bike ride or a hike, it probably wasn't particularly magical. kmage you made me laugh with your commentary, are we vampires haha

Used this one on a page about--my dgs beating me at the game of Sorry! And he was NOT sorry LOL. Link to my pageI think alot of the cut aparts or stamps or PL cards that don't work well on cards may find their homes on scrapbook pages and vise versa. Still looking for the Best Day Ever, though. And shy away from "You are my favourite" Also don't know how to act "like a boss", so don't know where to use that phrase.

I just saw one yesterday! It's from Echo Park's Everyday Eclectic (Alison Kreft) from 2012. There is a speech bubble shaped sticker that says "today you". What is that supposed to mean?! I assume it's a typo or auto-correct but I'm not sure what the correct wording would even be. It's a travel themed collection.

Every baby collection seems to have "Dream Big Little One". To me it doesn't make sense, a baby is not going to dream about being President or conquering the world. It is played out, it is in too many collections.

I was a bit perplexed by a new card sentiment that SSS is selling - “you’re on my heart” I can understand “you’re on my mind” or “in my heart” but “on my heart” sounds weird to me.

I hate the misspelling of WHOA as WOAH. I not only see it in scrapbooking, but on commercials.

My nephew was given the 5th grade kindness award with a little trophy. I was excited because 1) if you are going to be known for something, be known for kindness, and 2) I can finally use one of those "be kind" tags. I don't get all of the die cuts with "dream" on them, or words like that. I think I'm too literal, I guess. I did use it once- a photo of my nephew sleeping. I just don't like all of those kind of inspirational sayings. They don't inspire me and they just look fake on layouts. I definitely don't like "boss babe" and "girl squad". I also am tired of sayings that always have "we" on them instead of "I". I am single, a lot of people are single (and single parents) and scrapbook companies sometimes forget that.

I used a 'best day ever' on my very last car emission test. They kept saying 'this is the last year' then changing the date, so when it was actually the last test ever, I took a photo... No more driving across town once a year (for multiple vehicles) to pay to get probes attached to my car... the BEST day ever

I would use a Be Kind in an art piece, journal or ATC as more of a statement, but agree to send that on a greeting card would feel very awkward.
I don't have any to add to this thread, but this is a great thread I will keep watching.

I need to take a look at my supplies before I can properly contribute to this thread. I know I've seen some odd ones (though I do tend to prefer weird things over the same ol').
However, I once took an excessive number of photos at a dahlia farm and considered scrapping each and every one of them with a "bloom" or "grow" from my stash--one on every photo. Then I would be rid of them, at least until they show up in my next ephemera pack.

I try not to use the “best day ever” stickers/die cuts/journaling cards because not everyday is “the best day ever”. It seems disingenuous to me.
I hate the amount of product I have with “hi” on it.
“Bloom”, “grow” and “bloom where you are planted” I dislike.

I hate the amount of product I have with “hi” on it. Not very useful for scrapbooking but perfect for making cards to donate to senior charities like Bring Smiles to Seniors! Most of the cards I make for them are a very simple and use hello or hi as the sentiment. If you ever have time and energy they'd love to add you as a card angel
