Please. I know there's a Netflix/Prime recommendation thread... I've just been through a few pages of it but so many of the recommendations are for shows I'm not interested in watching. I've just finished a binge of "The Americans" on Prime and now I feel lost. lol I like action, things blowing up, or scary crime type shows. I've also loved "West Wing" and "Madame Secretary", neither of which are action, or things blowing up (well, there were a few close calls in both, but generally no). I like spies, and criminal type shows like "NCIS" or "Criminal Minds". Same for movies -- "Independence Day" (I'm disillusioned by Will Smith though ), Indiana Jones, "White House Down", etc. And I like a good science fiction story but I can't seem to find one that holds my interest. I do not care for comedy (except the old ones from back in the Days of the Dinosaur, i.e., when I was younger), or romance. Anyone have any good suggestions?

There was an excellent miniseries called Unbelievable (I think it was on netflix) starring Merritt Wever, Toni Collette, and Kaitlyn Dever. It's a disturbing investigation into a rape, and how victims are treated.
Have you watched the "Justified"? Lots of seasons and a great story about a US Marshal in Kentucky.
Peaky Blinders was really good. About a criminal family in Birmingham, England around 1920.
We loved Bosch on Prime. It follows the Michael Connelly books really well.

DH and I just finished binge watching all four seasons of Good Girls on Netflix. If crime is your thing, this series has tons of that. We really liked it.

My DH who also likes spy/action loved Reacher The Night Manager is fantastic, but I love Tom Hiddleston so I'm biased The Bodyguard (TV series not the Kevin Costner flick) is excellent Have you watched the Jack Ryan series? Season 1 was fantastic, 2 was not as good Homeland was very good at first, I lost interest after the first couple of seasons
on the Sci fi side, of course the new Dune is very good and MoonKnight just appeared on Disney+

Thinking you've prob seen Breaking Bad. It and 24 are the most "on the edge of my seat" action packed shows I've ever seen.
Movie The Fugitive

Have you watched any of the Australian series on Netflix? - Stateless is set in an immigration detention center in the outback and stars Yvonne Strahovski (Serena Joy in The Handmaid's Tale)
- Wanted follows the story of two strangers on the run together after witnessing a murder
- The Code involves a journalist and his hacker brother
- Secret City is a political thriller with conspiracies and cover-ups
- Pine Gap is another political thriller following American and Australian intelligence agencies

Killing Eve, very female centric crime show with a crazy cat & mouse angle.
Adding The Night Manager with Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston. It's about as perfect as they come.

Don't forget the Bourne series--I think there are 3 or 4 movies. One of the few movies I'll watch over and over.

I just started watching Spycraft on Netflix. It is an informational series. The first episode describes the spying equipment used by various countries against each other. The things that were invented to listen to each other are amazing. Here are a few of the spy technology devices discussed: One example, when building the US Embassy in Russia in the 70s, the labor workers were Russian and the materials came from Russia. They discovered the top three floors of the building had hundreds of microphones built into the walls. Fortunately this was discovered before the building was finished. They had to tear the top three floors off and rebuild them with American labor and materials brought in from the states.
Another was a tiny microphone and transmitter that was embedded into a bullet! This bullet could be fired into anything and then used to listen to the transmitted voices. This was used to spy on two Russians in a very secure building that could not be breached to plant a device. The bullet device was fired from a gun and embedded into a tree near where the Russians were talking. I find this just so amazing and creative.
A very interesting and famous one was a Russian device built in 1945 that had no electronic parts in it so it could not be detected by any bug-seeking equipment. It sat dormant in the desired location until the KGB activated it by aiming a high frequency radio beam at the building where it was located. It then transmitted voices to a Russian office across the street. This device was hidden in a beautiful carved wooden plaque gifted to an American ambassador by a little boy that was the Russian equivalent of a boy scout. The Ambassador hung this on the wall behind his desk. It transmitted conversations to the Russians for 7 years before it was discovered.
Of course we were capable of spying on other countries as well. The listening device planted in the Russian Embassy in Washington was deployed in a very ingenious way too. I am only halfway through the first episode and it is really interesting so far. The imagination to develop these things and the technology they developed is really amazing. Other episodes cover poisons, sex, covert operations, special ops, code breaking, and recruitment of spies. Obviously all of this is talking about past technology and events, but with the "old" technology shown in just the first episode, I can't imagine what is being developed and used with the advanced technology available today.

I recommend this to everyone who will listen. The scene at the end with Olivia Coleman- I was so taken by how powerful it is to have a very pregnant woman saving the day. The pregnancy was just another part of her character and did not detract from her ability to bring down the bad guy. What a powerful image. Plus Olivia Coleman of course.

I agree with most of these and would definitely add Broadchurch. It's amazing!
Edited to add Shetland (it's a crime show set in the Shetland Isles in the North Sea).
