I'd be pissed and eventually tell him to knock it off, Dh would last about 30 second before he put a stop to it.

Yeah, no. As someone said - the arrogance of assuming everyone would enjoy his version of religious music would have made my blood boil.

I'm not sure if this video is exactly what it seems though. Could it have been a chartered plane and they were all members of the same church ? I can't see any cabin crew allowing it to happen on any other plane.
Some reports are saying that it was on an Easy Jet flight to Germany but doesn't say from where. The interior of that plane in the video is NOT an Easy Jet flight. EJ has bright orange head rests on their planes.

According to Twitterverse & a TMZ article, the group is "Kingdom Realm Ministries" and this dude is their pastor. Apparently they are known to do this on trains and in restaurants. They are not on a flight in the US, they've been traveling around Europe spreading their "gospel". If you want a real treat, go read their FB page (I'm not a FB user, so even just the stuff on their page that everyone can see is enough). Fuck that. 🤷🏼♀️ Religion is like a penis: It’s fine to have one. It’s fine to be proud of it, but don’t whip it out in public.

If Elvis were on my plane, I’d be mad if he got up and sang.
It’s wrong to force people to listen to any performance. You can’t just get up and walk away on a plane.

Also did they change the mask rule on flights in the States? We still have to wear them up here. No. I think this video is old

I would be super annoyed. It wouldn’t matter what song they were singing. This. It takes a special kind of nerve to think that you’re just that good and that your song is so important that everyone must be subjected to it. I would have complained as soon as the flight landed.

I do have to say that I was on a Long Island Railroad train into NYC in the 70s and Harry Chapin was very quietly strumming his guitar in our car. No one complained.

I’d be annoyed. Partly because of the music disturbing me, and partly because I don’t like proselytizing and that is what this seems to be. It’s like they are going on a mission trip and decided to start their “work” on the plane.

I admit that I have an aversion to "Jesus rock". It all sounds the same to me. In this case the guy, and his group, make it worse by singing out of tune and as Merge said, strumming his out of tune guitar. For me, it would be pure torture and I would be trying to open the nearest exit door mid flight.

I didnt listen and dont know or care what the music is. He needs to put the guitar away and sit the hell down!
Side note: did anyone else immediately think of the guitar scene from "Airplane"?

How do you get a guitar case into an airplane cabin? I know it doesn’t fit in that little metal thingy that shows you if your carry on is compliant. Actually, on most major carriers (certainly, US), there is a policy that musicians are allowed to bring certain instruments, including guitars, as carry-ons. They do fit in the overhead bins. I know this because my husband purchased a handmade guitar when we were in Spain. They tried to get him to check it, but when we asked if the reimbursement policy would cover the full replacement value of the guitar (and showed them the receipt of exactly what that would mean), they let us bring it onboard. My husband had researched all this before leaving home; so he knew they would relent if he pushed back. He did NOT want to trust his brand new (quite expensive) guitar to the airline baggage handlers. My husband, however, did not serenade everyone.

No one should be allowed to play a musical instrument of any sort on a plane. No one should sing, orate, do calisthenics, or any other behavior that infringes on other’s space and peace.
I would be extra mad at being subjected to his religion - any religion.
I’m certain I would be one of the voices asking flight attendants to make him stop. A follow up communication to the airline complaining about how far it got before they were made to stop would be in order as well.

My apologizes to fellow passengers. We play that song as we start out every road trip. We started playing it on our long drives from Washington DC to Minneapolis every summer. The drive is loooong and boring and I hate sitting in the car for all of that time. I’ve been a Catholic confirmation teacher. I would not have enjoyed that enclosed in an airplane. Life is generally pretty hectic before a trip and I just want to be in my own little 2x2 foot space and just be. Unless that was a charter flight, the musician had no business singing like that.

My husband had researched all this before leaving home; so he knew they would relent if he pushed back. He did NOT want to trust his brand new (quite expensive) guitar to the airline baggage handlers. My husband, however, did not serenade everyone. It’s actually an FAA regulation and applies to every flight that is subject to FAA policies. My DH often travels with a guitar so he can practice in his free time (in the privacy of his hotel room or airbnb). When I sent this video to him, I joked that now when people saw him get on the plane they’d be afraid he was about to burst into song. We had a bad experience with this on spring break, though. Younger DD also travels with her viola because she can’t afford to lose several days of practice time. Her viola is much more expensive than any guitar we’re likely to own. At the suggestion of her viola teacher, she always carries a copy of the FAA rules regarding musical instruments being allowed on planes just in case, but it’s never been a problem. Until we got on the tiny plane from Houston to El Paso. The airport personnel were not aware of the policy and had to be educated about that, but they further insisted that the overhead bins in the plane were too small for her viola case or DH’s guitar. They were required to gate check their instruments or else be rebooked on a flight that used a larger plane, which was not feasible. Upon boarding the plane, we saw that the overhead bins would have held the viola for sure and possibly the guitar. So some lessons we learned that day were to know the dimensions of your instrument and its case, and to carry a small tape measure. Require the gate personnel (politely) to physically show you that the bins are too small and don’t just take their word for it. Now I have to wonder, though, if the gate personnel were concerned that one or both of them was likely to whip out their instrument mid-flight and serenade the plane. 😂

I likely would have missed it all as I adore my noise cancelling headphones. I do wonder if it was a chartered flight as I don't understand the lack of masks. I hate when the flight attendants think their singers or comedians as well as if I see a PA announcement, I will take off my headphones and don't appreciate someone thinking they're entertain us - although honestly that has happened in a long while.

Today more than likely someone would complain, post their outrage on Twitter and start a media blitz on how their rights to complete silence were trampled on. But how wonderful that you got to hear Harry Chapin on the train!

I don’t mind that it was a “religious” song. I mind being forced to listen to someone else’s music. Heck, I don’t like music or noise in general so STFU.

I'd be mildly annoyed. I have traveled with someone who is highly anxious on a plane and this would have set her off. It does remind me of the high school kids for Jesus that would whip out their guitars and sing and everyone around them either hated it or pretended to like it.

The man directly behind pissed plaid shirt Dude is wearing a mask. I stand corrected. I looked again and he seems to be the only one. All the folks at the front of the plane are without a mask also.
When I zoom in I see another person on the other side of the plane wearing a mask as well. So maybe this is recent after all. But do people on flights coming in to the US have to wear masks even if the country they are leaving from doesn’t require them? Or is it just flights leaving the US (or other countries that require masks)?

This was probably a flight in Europe, and this group is traveling around in Europe right now. Reports are that this is from April 9th. I guess if you are on say British Airways, coming to the US, you don’t have to wear a mask. I don’t know about the reverse trip.

We talked about this tonight and my plan is to have AC/DC's Highway to Hell on my phone and play it is loud as possible, bopping up and down the aisle, until they stop. My apologizes to fellow passengers. I used to work with a very nice, very Christian young man from Ghana. Some nights he would start playing his favorite Christian music at his work station, loud enough for us all to hear but never asking if we were OK with it. Some nights it would even be fire-and-brimstone preaching he’d listen to. It became very annoying and we did nicely ask him if he would play something we all enjoyed or listen to his media with earbuds. He’d agree, but then would eventually try to start playing his music and preaching again. It wasn’t enough to warrant an HR call at that point but I decided to counter-attack. I would start to play AC/DC in my station every time he started playing his music in his. I’d play AC/DC as loud as we could stand it, and Hells Bells was my favorite. It only took a couple of times of this happening until he finally got the point. As a group we came together and decided Celine Dion was something we could all tolerate together, and she became our shift’s primary Spotify playlist 😁.
