Here's my version of the blue live. I only have 3 ombre papers in my stash and this was the only one that would work. I moved everything across a little because I wanted to be able to see the colours properly although I'm second guessing myself now and wondering if I should have put this on white cardstock instead of the grey pattern.

Gorgeous, Chinagirl828 ! I like it on the grey background, and I think it would look great on white as well. It's definitely got more of a Shimelle feel on the patterned background. Of course if this were a digital page you could change the background back and forth to see which one you like best, at the touch of a key. You have no idea how many times I change my papers when I'm making a page haha! This one is my Yellow, Aqua and Grey page.

I think it looks lovely on the grey. That’s Basic Grey, isn’t it? I’m still on red for this class. Summver vacation starts next week though so soon I’ll have time!

That’s Basic Grey, isn’t it? It is, from Typeset. Looking at it online today I don't mind the grey, it's just hard to get out of the mindset of everything looks better on white.

I am definitely guilty of doing this on digi pages, it's certainly much easier to layer up all the papers I'm considering and then just clicking the little eye on or off to switch between them. I love your take on the yellow & grey page, off to the gallery to leave some love.

Sharing here because this layout is purely a product of Shimelle's class: she is changing me from "collection" scrapping to "colour" scrapping. Without her "inky" layouts, I would never have had the guts to create my whole background this way. I used a layering stencil that creates a "bokeh" effect, and changed the colours as I went across the layout to create the gradient from blues/cool up through heat to the red. It took time, but was surprisingly easy and it was EXACTLY what I wanted for these photos! I used new washi tape (behind the photo block), OLD embellies from my colour-sorted drawers, scraps of paper, Heidi Swapp chipboard letter stickers from probably 2005. layout flamin ramen by kirstendrew, on Flickr

I'm working my way through this thread and you guys are SO inspiring! I have to agree with kitbop, I run out of superlatives to describe the gorgeous layouts. Shimelle is converting me from collection scrapper to a color scrapper as well. And that came from choosing supplies from the first red page. It was fun to pull those supplies from various collections.

Has Shimelle ever said how she organizes her paper/stickers, etc? I would think by collection, but now with this class, I am wondering.

Has Shimelle ever said how she organizes her paper/stickers, etc? She has mentioned this a few times: she organizes by collection/manufacturer because that is how she thinks, especially after spending time in the industry. She also said she used to keep her ephemera/embellishments in a bowl just mixed together, but more recently is keeping them in their packages, and she noted how that changed her layouts. From the bowl, she would get more of an assortment but felt that it was a slower process. With the packages she finds it's more efficient but that she might miss out on opportunities. I have a complete mixture of storage - some paper is by colour, some is by theme, some is by collection/manufacturer. Since I currently kinda know where stuff is, I don't want to resort it because then I won't know where to look!

This is my page for the yellow, blue and pink class. It's not a design I'd normally be drawn to, but I stuck almost exactly to it.

AussieMeg this is so much nicer with the softer colours, and you did an amazing job finding a colour scheme that doesn't make that couch the main focus.

finding a colour scheme that doesn't make that couch the main focus. OMG that couch! I bloody LOVED that couch, it was my pride and joy haha! $2200 at Harvey Norman around the turn of the century. DSO couldn't stand it (I bought it before he was on the scene) and he took great delight in destroying it when we bought a lovely new plain charcoal couch. All those colours makes it very difficult to scrap photos with the couch in them. I find it best to just ignore them haha.

Here's my take on the purple layout from the live yesterday. This is definitely *a lot* going on for one of my pages. I like how it turned out but I'm not sure I'll repeat it often. I saw the first layout in the class thread used butterflies on the circles which I think would be fun to try and probably much more in keeping with my style.

I'm way behind on this class. I've been watching the videos and Lives, but haven't really scrapped anything. I have used her color theory ideas on a couple of my current pages, I just haven't used her sketch designs.
I just wanted to throw in that I love using oxides, but I don't usually just brush them on and blend them out like she does. I usually use the kissing technique, then use a stencil. Not sure why, but it feels weird to me to just brush it on. It takes a LOT of work to smooth out and blend the colors that way. I like it a bit more...messy...I guess, which is funny, cause I hate getting messy. LOL

I feel the opposite about the classes. While I like her colour combo ideas, I am more inspired by her page designs. I have printed off her pages and hope to use them like sketches. But ITA about using Oxides. I am much more likely to shmoosh them on direct from the pad, spritz with water, then—with or without a stencil—plop another sheet of cs on top. I love seeing all the different results, and I find the messy play fun! BTW, have you posted any of your LO’s here or on her site? I think she would be happy to see her colour theory applied in new ways!

I think I have left love on Flickr for most of these pages. Have a couple of them printed off for my own inspiration. kmage, I love your orange page. The inking is a wonderful substitute for those triangles. I think one of the best parts of taking classes like these is seeing what other people do with them.

I used a layering stencil that creates a "bokeh" effect kitbop, what is the manufacturer of that stencil? I love it and would like to find it.

AussieMeg I love your take on the green page. I am on that one right now, and I feel like there are leprechauns (sp??) hiding somewhere on my page. It just says St. Patty's day to me. I am going to pull it apart and redo with a different shade of green, I should have known better, that (the one Shimelle used) is not my preferred shade/hue ect of green and I much prefer something muted or at least with more white or cream in it.

I've totally lost momentum on this class but I do want to finish at least a few more pages based on the lessons that have been posted. This is from the green live video.
