Even if it's silly, we learn something new every day!
This week I learned about pineberries. Some of you may think it's ridiculous that I've never heard of them, but I had no idea such a thing existed. The ones I bought were "pinkaboo" and they look like white, very faintly pink, unripe strawberries but they were sweet and delicious.
I saw them at Aldi and decided to give them a try.
They weren't as cheap as strawberries so I may not go out of my way to buy them again, since they don't really taste any different.
I'm still amazed that I'm 50 years old and have never seen or heard of these.
Anybody else got anything for me?

That a grizzly bear in the Grand Tetons had quadruplets this year. They all just emerged from hibernation. Apparently VERY rare.

I learned that Prince Louis is pronounced Prince Loo-ee, not Lewis. 🤷♀️ I did stumble across one odd tidbit this week. Before toilet paper, lots of people used corn cobs OR the pages of The Farmer’s Almamac.  |

My son has been listening to books on his iPad about animal poop and, apparently, rabbits and (some) birds eat their own poop. It gives their bodies a 2nd chance to digest the nutrients they missed the first time.

Ds shared this fun fact with me. 86% of the people of Scotland and Ireland have blue or green eyes. In Iceland, it's even higher, 87% of men and 89% of women. Women are also more likely to have green eyes than men. |

This gave me a flashback to when i was a kid and every day we had to have something ready to tell my dad when he asked "What did you learn today?"
This week I learned that I don't need a foiling plate to use up the leftover foil after using a sheet with a Glimmer Mist plate. So now I can foil positive and negative of my images.

This week I learned how to better use layers in Procreate so I could test out different designs on a decorated cookie to see what I liked best before committing to anything. I have so many issues with cookie commitment, LOL. |

This week, thanks to dh spraining his ankle, I’ve learned that to walk safely/correctly with a cane it needs to be at wrist height and in the hand opposite to the injured side.🤯 Also, there are aids for putting on socks.😲👏😂 ETA: I realise you’re a nurse and have likely known that forever but it was news to me.  |

Welllll...what a fun thread to see today.  Because I learned something really bizarre and interesting, for sure. LOL This week/weekend, I have been attending a conference for an organization called ADEC, which stands for Association for Death Education and Counseling. I know...so honestly, I learned all sorts of things. But, this one is the BEST. I learned that there is a psychedelic tea, and that it is being used to treat prolonged grief disorder. I went to a workshop this morning with my coworker not knowing what I was getting into. LOL It was called "Ayahuasca as a potential intervention for prolonged grief disorder." I had NO idea what Ayahuasca is, I just went because there was nothing else in that time slot that sounded interesting to me, and my coworker was going. LOL Not only did I learn what Ayahuasca is, but the instructor was fabulous. A man, probably in his 40s, a social worker who teaches grief yoga, too. At the end of his workshop, he called himself "hippy dippy." It was so awesome. All of it! I also learned that I love Thai food. I've never had it, but my coworker took me to her favorite Thai restaurant in downtown St. Louis for lunch, and OMG. Delicious! Do I win the "what interesting thing did you learn today?" contest? LOL |

Actually although I probably instinctually knew that about a cane used for an injury, I didn't know that from nursing because I have always worked with cardiac patients and not patients with ortho injuries. My patients are just using a cane for balance. I definitely knew about the sock aids though! |

I was watching a show about mushrooms and fungus and part of it touched on using psylocibin for depression and long term grief. It was very interesting, sort of like a "re-set" of the system according to the patients. This was part of a university study I think, can't remember all the details. Sounds similar! |

I learned that it’s really hard to buy unsalted pistachios without shells. Didn’t used to be. I also learned that being the only one to order dessert when out to dinner with four friends is strangely liberating. I somehow skimmed that part. |

My friend had both a walker and a cane with her, so it was decided I would use the cane. My niece, an RN, whipped out her phone and watched a YouTube tutorial to show me how to use it. She said at work they often use YouTube to know what to do. totally surprised me! fortunately the knee was fine after a week. |
