In the S/O: Full Set Syndrome thread, lilacgal applied "gamer types" found in online gaming to the scrapping industry. Of the four types, as defined in the excerpt from her post below [bold is mine], which best describes you? TFS. ...In the world of massive online gaming, players generally fall into four categories. ... It was awhile ago that I realized these four “gamer types” seemed to be present in the scrappy world: Spades want to figure out the best ways to accomplish pages. They enjoy the principles of design and to break the rules in ways that improve their art. Hearts are there for the social aspect, whether it’s hanging out with friends or documenting for their family. Diamonds enjoy trying new techniques, collect supplies, and “suffer” from full set syndrome. Clubs want the notoriety and to be “the best” in the business. ...

What a great poll! Yes, I am a spade, with a touch of heart and diamonds, but definitely a spade!

Definitely a diamond, I want it all!! While I'm an introvert, I'm also a bit of a heart, which is why I really enjoy this community here : :

Mostly spade and a little heart. Not for the social aspect but for documenting for my family.

PaperAngel, what a fun poll! I like seeing the responses…especially the ‘rebel’ ones. I’ve found rather consistently that everyone has a little bit of each, even if they don’t realize it or don’t want to admit it. I know I’m a diamond with a good bit of spade. Heart is a nice chunk too but only in certain places or situations with people I know. I love to read here but often refrain from “adding my 2¢“ because I’m afraid -expletive won’t I stand my more quirky ways of viewing the world around me. I’d love to say I don’t have any club tendencies, but I do. I would love to be a top resource of information for people. I think the teacher in me has some big club leanings. I want to be the best at school too. I think we’ve all seen scrappers that take being a club way too far, but I believe it can be a good thing as well, especially when it ties in with other scrappy personality types.

I'm definitely a heart. Scrapbooking and well, damn near everything in my life, is about connection.

I hate to admit the amount of club that I have in me with a side of heart. I’m really competitive. More so with myself. You will regularly hear me at a crop telling my friends how good I did. 🤣 my friend jokes that I’m the best scrapbooker ever. I don’t want to be a celebrity scrapper but I do like to know I’m beating myself and the last couple pages I made.
I will also be the first to say I do this for myself and as a creative outlet. So maybe I am a rebel.

I’m both a Spade and Diamond. I don’t have FSS, but enjoy trying new and trendy techniques. Sometimes they become tried and true, and sometimes they mark a time when it was trendy and dropped after I tried it and moved on to other trends.

I think I'm the Joker. Likes to cut and paste. Doesn't pay attention to design principles. Not organized. Jumps from one project to another. Doesn't care about trying new techniques but might randomly do so. Likes the social aspect, but only online.

I'm a Diamond with a pinch of Spade and Clubs. The know-it-all in me definitely daydreams of being a Clubs, but the laziness in me can't be bothered.

Diamond with a dash of heart!
Sometimes I get afraid that crafting is a "fantasy sport" for me. I want to learn All the Things and collect All the Stuff, but I spend less time DOing it than I think I ought to...

I'm quite surprised by how many have said they don't see themselves represented in this list, I hadn't expected that.
I'm a spade, with a little bit of a heart and a tiny bit of a diamond thrown in, but definitely much more spade than anything else.

I am definitely not a Club, in part because it's just not a realistic goal for me.
I am a Heart in that it's social for me... and that also encompasses shopping to an extent. I'd say I'm 70% heart.
Re: Spade: I do love the idea of design principles; I can watch stuff about it all day. And I want to get stuff done in a way that's efficient while still visually appealing. I love sketches, but I also love taking & sketch & modifying it (usually by changing the orientation).
Diamond: In some areas, FSS has replaced what could be called the smorgasbord approach. Where paper lines are concerned, that's partly due to it being faster, easier, and in some ways cheaper, to get all the paper in a line plus all the embellies I like, than to get bits of multiple lines. I'm getting really good at that, in part thanks to you ladies having links. It gives me time to study a release & see if I like it, which is resulting in much less waste/adding fewer items to my garage sale bin.
Have cut back on dye inks, because I've gotten clearer on my stamping style. Am also pretty good about tracking what I have for Nuvos, etc. I've achieved that by getting my space & stash organized, and setting up boundaries around how much I can have of various items. Once the bin is full, I have to use some to make space.
I also purge regularly at set intervals. (Spring, as a rule - garage sale season in summer).
Regret all the Primas, buttons, and brads I bought back in the day.
