I've noticed posters in recent new product & organization threads admit to "Full Set Syndrome" (FSS), meaning they strive to buy/own every paper/embellishment, ink color, etc. offered for a given collection. Do you have FSS? If so, what papercrafting supply/supplies do you collect? TFS. ETA: See also related thread, Poll: S/O: Which type of scrapper are you?

My budget has never extended to buying full sets so I've managed to avoid full set syndrome. If it had...gosh, I would have loved all the Bazzil colours or all the Prima flowers in the pretty bottles, or more recently, all the Nuvo drops...

no - cos A) I don't have the space B) I don't have the budget and C) I can't justify having them all

No. I only buy what I love. If I love something, sometimes I buy more than one of that item.

I almost had a full set of CTMH inks but then they started discontinuing the colors and not they have discontinued the style.
I bought the entire let’s stay home collection from pinkfresh because that’s how my local scrapbook store was selling it during covid. It’s just way too much for me. I am literally going to be using it for the remainder of my life.

Yep - but I never have actually had all of anything. Back in the day, MM paints, stickles, lately distress oxide inks because I see Heidi swapp using new colors and it’s tempting. I will say unlike most of the other examples, I’ve used almost every ink I’ve bought except a few I got within The past few weeks.
I did stop buying full collections of a line, but sometimes I still get suckered in - especially if I see it used. I really try to require myself to have an actual project or specific idea or use in mind before I buy.

I’m trying to not get sucked into buying all of the distress oxides and Nuvo drops, but I have a weakness for both and good sized collections.

I'll admit it, I have tendencies for FSS. Can I blame my generation for this? 😂

Nope! Never has there been a collection where I want it all. There are always pieces that I do not want or use.
Now if there is something I really like, I will get more than 1. Mainly paper.

Have you seen my Nuvo Drops collection? I’ve all but one! It is a Stone Drop that was exclusive to one of their craft kits. Im constantly on the search. Sigh… one day, I’ll find it.
I’ve got all the Distress Inks and Oxides. Back in the day I had all the Stickles. If I start to use those again, I’ll fill in any gaps I have. I think I have all the Pops of Color too.

I discovered long ago that I was a diamond. In one game I played, I was the guild’s collector. If something new and shiny (particularly if it was limited edition), I’d find ways to acquire it. I also have strong heart leanings and would lend equipment to my friends. It was awhile ago that I realized these four “gamer types” seemed to be present in the scrappy world: Spades want to figure out the best ways to accomplish pages. Diamonds enjoy trying new techniques, collect supplies, and “suffer” from full set syndrome. Clubs want the notoriety and to be “the best” in the business.
Just my random musings the day after the final showing of our school musical. I’m still exhausted so if none of that makes any sense, I’m blaming the fact my brain is still asleep. 🤪😴

I’ve done that with a few collections I really love that I was pretty sure I could put to really good use.
I never got into buying full sets of inks, stamps with coordinating dies or things like that.

Yes, I have full set syndrome when it comes to ink. I wish I had room for full size ink pads but I don’t. I keep my FSS to ink cubes because they are easier to store. 😁

I do when it comes to things like ink, gems, enamel dots, alphas. Doodlebug gets me as they release a product in most of their colours. Agh, especially the cardstock alphas. Must Have Them All.

The term "full set syndrome" is new to me, but yep I can relate With collections I really like, it's rare I would get absolutely every single thing, yet I'd be close. Usually it would be paper pads both big and small, embellishments, thickers/alphas, stencils and stamp set(s). I usually skip washi and maybe the enamel dots/jewels since I have so many. Most recently I got just about all of Vicki Boutin's Fernwood collection. Couple others I can think of would be Shimelle's Never Grow Up and a ton of OA collections back in the day. Outside of that, I'm a SU hobby demo so I have a HUGE problem with full set syndrome with them, especially since they're so coordinated and they have really increased the coordinating paper and embellishments to go along with the sets/dies. I just buy what I like, though, and sell off some if I accumulate too much or don't get around to using something I thought I would. And along with that, I definitely have to have full sets of SU inks and cardstock.

I had to have every piece of Jen Hadfield Patio Party. I fell in love with it a while after it was released so I had to hunt down most of it. Then when I finally had it all I used it once. Lesson learned.
I bought most but not all of SS Safe Travels but I have a plan to use it for several double page layouts so I feel fine about that. But no more buying every piece of a collection just because I like it. It’s too much for me and I end up getting bored with it.

Diamonds enjoy trying new techniques, collect supplies, and “suffer” from full set syndrome. I absolutely suffer from Full Set Syndrome, but I prefer to call myself a happy Diamond. Thank you lilacgal!

Once in a rare while, if I truly loved everything in a collection, I have bought it all, or as much as I could (some things got sold out too fast). Those are the collections that I am more likely to use for making a mini album.
Most of the time, though, no.

We were recently chatting about his grandparents' personalities, one being a collector of collections (I think you know about her ) and another being focused on utility and profit. While we were talking he was playing a driving game where you earned points to buy cars (I think) and he was explaining how he chose what he collected in the game vs other gamers, and it was interesting to try to make sense of other people's motivations that are so different from our own.

I'm definitely a heart. I used to suffer from FSS but when I realized I wasn't using 80% of the full sets, I stopped buying all the things. I now only buy what I really like and know I will use at some point. Great question!

I do not have FSS. I almost fell for it when the Oxides first came out but then quickly got overwhelmed by how many there would be and how it would be never-ending... I do get a little buzz of pleasure when I see a drawer full of every color of Catherine Pooler inks or a shelf with every color of cardstock neatly arranged but I don't have the space or budget and I know I don't need it all.
CP mini inks though - if I ever fall for FSS that will be the thing that gets me. At this point I'm almost willing to give up my oxides to make space for the rest of the mini inks. But then I realize I will probably need a reinker for every color I buy too and decide just to be a patterned paper cardmaker instead.

I do not have FSS. I do have a full set of my favorite inks (Jenni Bowlin/Ranger) but there are only 12 colors - so a very basic palette. I have about half of the oxide colors and wouldn’t mind getting another 8-10. I like to have 2-3 shades of each color family as that works well with how I use them.
I stopped buying full collections a while ago and even then I never got the coordinating stamps/dies or enamel dots. I buy even less now. I’m typically satisfied with 1 each of the papers I like the most and an embellishment pack.
I have a handful of things like Nuvo drops & Stckles, but nowhere near a full set of any of them. I tend to have my favorites and stick with them. I would very much like to downsize these things!
I feel the pull of FSS when subscribing to kit clubs. The only time I ever go overboard with add ons is during November when the kits are full of christmas. I love christmas supplies!!

I do! I guess by the description above, I'm a diamond. I like to collect, but rarely craft. I have the complete set of 8 different ink lines and the full set of copics. I get carried away with paper and other supplies too, but not like ink. My excuse is that the nearest craft store is 100 miles away and if I'm in a creative mood, I don't want it to end because I don't have the right color.

I most definitely do not have FSS, I can only think of a couple of book series where I owned the full set, but for everything else in life I buy only the bits I love the most. In scrapping that was largely dictated by budget in the early years, and now by space. I have bought a lot of the pieces of a couple of CVS collections, but that would be the closest I've come, I normally cherry pick the things that I am mostly likely to use or that fill gaps in my stash.

Ok, this is fascinating and could make an interesting thread all on its own. I'm definitely a Spade, I like to understand how things work and then apply that knowledge to my own pages, which is probably why I also enjoy taking classes.

I don't typically have FSS, I mostly have FOMO. I really like the Distress Inks (regular) and have all the mini's. I do like GinaK inks and have most of those. I'm so glad I don't need all the Copics or Oxides.

I have that too, but it's more like "get it before it's gone" syndrome because scrapbook stuff gets retired. Pinterest is a bad influence (ha!) on me because I see something made with older product and then it sends me down the rabbit hole trying to find it (and often have to pay extra for it).

Yes! I actually used to have what I called "twosies". I would buy 2 of everything - paper, stickers, anything usable so in case I used it I had one in my stash "just in case".
I do have full set syndrome when it comes to things like Copics. and watercolors and distress inks. and oxides. haha!

I do not generally have FSS. I never had the money, the space, or liked anything that much...
The only thing in scrapbooking I have been tempted to have all of is Memento inks, and then they stopped making them, or at least selling them where I could find them. There are 36 colors, I own 18.
I guess I'd say I'm a spade only because I'm definitely not the other three...
