And I must have missed where her albums are. She doesn't scrap any more. She makes cards. The rainbow look makes me happy. But honestly this looks like a store to me. I'm quite grossed out by the sheer amount of excess here. The idea of someone having all this and then not being able to use it all just makes my head spin. This was my reaction exactly.

I'll be joining the looks-like-a-very-well-organised-store-to-me bench. I think this kind of super loaded room with everything visually showing can work for some people. And not work at all for other people. I definitely belong to the latter. But I'm glad the cardmaker in question is enjoying it! Also, as always, super surprised with there not being doors. I'd have a thin layer of dust on everything exposed in about 48h, especially right now as we've entered severe drought season. My climate is not gentle on that front. Maybe these crafters have special air filtration + circulation systems in their homes? It's a mystery to me.

Very interesting blog post joblackford a huge step up from what she had previously and very well thought out. I would love to be her crafting buddy/neighbor lol.

It looks like this was her room in 2015. I wonder if it looks the same today. I saw a video or series of photos a few months ago of it as it looks today and it's definitely a bit messier. I don't remember where I saw it, though. Good for her if this is what she loves. It definitely gives me a little bit of anxiety looking at it though - its very overwhelming. She does beautiful work. I think she's on Tim Holtz's design team now.

She definitely uses the space the beginning of this shows it in action http://instagr.am/p/CYKeY3mP4T3 But this is what I was looking for! The video tour of the other craft space in her 2nd home, the Mini Mint. This is a great little space that I could really get behind that STILL has way more stuff than I could ever imagine owning and using. If you enjoy the DreamBox/WorkBox stuff this is a great look at how much stuff one can hold. I can't afford one but I wouldn't actually fill it up either so that's OK. ETA: sorry has to be watched on YT. Also, it's another very pretty space, but she has to move so much stuff to get the doors fully open... that perplexes me!

Its a beautiful room , but its not for me. I would feel claustrophobic and overwhelmed with all that bright colors.

I would love to have a large, super well organized space like that but not with that many supplies.

Now that’s what I want to see in a craft room! lol I wonder if the cardstock in her big craft room fades where it’s sticking out. Dream boxes—do I have the name wrong?—make me feel claustrophobic though can see their appreal in a small space, especially if shared. But Yana Smakula’s small set ups in both Arizona and the Ukraine, for example, seem very efficient, airy and welcoming. Of course hers are open. The mini craft room tour is an hour long so I didn’t watch the whole thing. But I found it more inviting than the big craft room. Here’s a link to it on youtube though it may not work. youtu.be/AzfDwV0PnXo

grammadee , someone said recently to me that it's not your organizational skills that matter, it is your put away skills! I'd have that room trashed in no time! serously! i swear i spend most of my time putting stuff away to make room on my desk to bring out more stuff i'm going to use next. the "go-backs" pile is forever high.

I love it. I think it's gorgeous. I couldn't have all those things out on display though because I have a curious toddler and 5 year old that want to grab every pretty thing they see and play with it (gee, I wonder where they got THAT from).

The room is beautiful. But, it’s too much for me. The mini mint is getting closer to my speed but still too much. HOWEVER, this is her business not just a hobby no? Of course a business owner would need more & bigger. That just the fact of it. I do this a few evenings a week and a few weekends a month. I’m pretty sure this is her business. That means that room is a whole different thing, it’s a business space.
One of the things I’m looking forward to in my house is having a studio. I can’t wait. I have no idea how to lay it out or set it up and I wish there was a craft room genie to do it for me. But get, let me get moved in and slowly over time I’ll figure it out. I think I’ve picked a desk placement it’s because I want to be able to see the tv from time to time so that’s how I chose the rest orientation. The rest is not decided yet.

It really is lovely to look at but I'm also in the I'd be overwhelmed camp. I do like that she listed out the professionals she worked with to get her space like that. I don't think there's any way I could do anything like that without an architect, designer, an organizer and at least $50,000 budget to make it all happen. It is making me think about putting together a plan for my new space and thinking about a (realistic) budget. I'd love to get one of the Dream boxes as my new space is much smaller, no closets, and out in the open, but they are soo pricey. I when I priced it out, it was about $4k with the extra storage, drawers, and stuff. It made me wish I had some woodworking skills. If anyone has one, I'd love to hear if you like it or not.

It's very pretty to look at. I'll be honest, I could not craft there.
I'd be unable to make choices, there are just waaaaaayyyyy too many of them for my little brain to deal with. But (100% honest) good for her if that's what she loves. I hope she has a rider on her insurance for that space. It's got to be worth a ton of $$, and I doubt that regular homeowner's insurance would cover the space if there was a catastrophe.

Where's the patterned paper? All those markers and cardstock are great but it's not a scrapbook room without patterned paper!
I guess when you get "famous" you don't use it anymore? (I noticed this with Cathy Z, Ali Edwards, and others) and it kind of confuses me because the paper (with patterns) is my favorite part of this hobby...

That might be the difference? Many card makers don’t use patterned paper, or if they do, not much or 6x6 pads or some 6x8. I fall into that group. There are absolutely exceptions to that right here in the challenge azcrafty runs. But in the many classes I took when learning how to stamp/make cards at two different LSS’s, and many on line classes, patterned paper either wasn’t used or wasn’t used very much. I did take a really fun class at an Stamp & SB Expo where we used some pattern paper in our cards. I liked it so much that after the expo I found the papers that were used and bought some. And I have three or four of the same 6x6 paper pack that I use to make little boxes and I’ve used for cards. Just my take.

I saw this craft room featured several years ago in Stamp-n-Storage's Crafted Spaces videos - Series 1. It’s a well planned/organized, bright, & visually appealing basement space! ...But her most-used supplies were almost all stuffed in the lower, out of the way regions of her storage, pretty messy looking and they seemed hard to get to... which just doesn't make sense to me... Like you, I was surprised basic/everyday supplies like black/grey/embossing inks & stamping blocks were unceremoniously tossed in a narrow clear bin & slid into an unmarked cubby in the "mini mint" dream/workbox. Where's the patterned paper? All those markers and cardstock are great but it's not a scrapbook room without patterned paper!… The owner is primarily a cardmaker. Per the link in the OP, specifically the description of the floor-to-ceiling bookcase with open shelving that houses stamps, dies, etc, “ The deep drawers at the bottom hold my scrapbooking supplies. Though I don’t get a chance to scrap as much as I used to, I still love to explore it whenever I can.”

And one low rolling file cart for 12x12 patterned plus 12x12 solid color for making things that need cs bigger than 8.5x11. I sometimes use it for strip cards amongst the solid colors too.

Yeah, I have no issues with all her stuff. There are dozens of things I don't do or buy that is the norm for many people. My supplies may seem overwhelming to some, but I don't care. 🙂 I over think most of my purchases. It will be used, it's finding the time.

Maybe you could look into a local cabinet maker to get an idea. My cousin owns a shop and has this awesome big machine he puts all the specifications in and it does most of the cutting. It might cost less. I'm not sure though.

Whoa, that is one heck of a space. It's both super pretty to look at and overwhelming for my brain at the thought of crafting in it. I don't mind some of the rainbow organisation, but there are so many different rainbows in there that I'm not sure where to focus. I'm also not one who can handle the idea of taking up that much space for things that could be stored more efficiently, but I assume it works for her and she finds it inspiring.

I am also one that want most (not all) of the supplies behind door or drawers. We get so much dust that although I like the looks of the paper displayed I want it covered. Maybe something like that with a door over it or in separate drawers you can shut? Plus I have a curious cat who likes to get into things. Just dreaming because I don't have a craft room, I have a table in the corner of our family room.

I have a more than generously supplied craft room, but I find hers overwhelming. Since she is on Design Teams, and/or does this for a living, I kind of understand why she has such an array of craft goods, and they would have to be well organized to be able to find what she wants when she needs it, but I don’t envy her stash. I do admire how well organized it is. It almost seems too well organized. One poster mentioned having to reorganize inkpads when new colors come out, and another mentioned inkpads drying out before they got much use, both of which are good points.
This may sound weird, but in some ways, her craft room would take some of the fun out of crafting for me. Sometimes when I start a card or a layout, I start browsing my stamps, dies, and paper, which seems to get my creative juices going. It’s always a delight when I am going through supplies and tools and see something I’d forgotten about or overlooked that would be perfect.
While I envy her ability to organize everything so beautifully, I don’t envy her craft room, as bizarre as that sounds. I want to be better organized, but hers seems too perfect. I’d have a hard time crafting in such a room. I’d feel like anything I made would have to be perfect, without making a mess. I’d never get anything done.

It's kind of like browsing at the library, yes sometimes I know exactly what book I want when I go in, but sometimes I just want to browse around and see what I find. I have found some amazing authors that way, that I might have overlooked. Plus, although it's been brought up that the person is a card maker, the lack of patterned paper is throwing me for a loop. I can't just cardstock and ink, it is not enough! I must have pretty paper, lol!

Her room is so beautiful! I would be inspired just by walking into it and seeing all the gorgeous colors on display. It would also help with not forgetting what you have and where it is. I really like how organized it all is.
