This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page/project when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge.

Welcome to Summer. Most school are out and things seem to change once children come home for summer. I look forward this month to seeing the Calif kids again and we are in the planning stage of Cousin Camp. There will only be 5 children, but I hope they will have a good time together. MARIBETHR, I don't know if everyone saw your note earlier today about having Covid. You are in my prayers for a quick recovery as well as your DH and work staff. I'm so sorry that bug got you! Waving to all the Pokeys and hoping we have time to do a little scrapping this new month.

Happy June, Pokeys! Thanks for setting up the new thread, nylene . maribeth , I hope you and your dh feel better soon. Don’t worry about your points tally. Your team leader won’t need it until the end of June. My dd, who has been extremely careful, woke up this morning with a sore throat, a fever, and feeling like a truck ran over her. Took an at home test and discovered she has COVID. No idea where it came from, but she did meet with a work group last week to deliver an on line class. She has been vexed and boosted, but also has asthma and an auto immune disorder that hit her after having Mono about 8 years ago. I have not been in physical contact with her since Mothers’ Day, and dh has not seen her fore about ten days. She and her family had planned to be at the farm this upcoming weekend to help with gardening, putting in the bedding plants, but it looks like dh and I will be doing that alone. I have a flight booked to Calgary tomorrow. I plan to spend Thursday hitting the green houses there to get my tomato and cabbage and other bedding plants to take home with me when I drive home on Friday.

Happy June! Thanks nylene for setting us up and getting us running. I'm so glad you can host cousin camp again. Are you making t-shirts? Soon you'll be able to start "2nd cousin camp" for your great-grands!!! MARIBETHR - I'm so sorry to hear the "vid" found you! It's frustrating after being so careful and "good" for 2 years... but at least we can now get it without being deathly sick. And now you'll have at least 90 days immunity to throw caution to the wind I'm on day 60 and feel invincible grammadee - pulling for a quick and full recovery for your DD! I'm sorry you've lost your planting crew however. I hope you had a fun trip. Drive safe!

Hello, Pokeys! I am home safe. Bedding plants have been unloaded and set on a table outside the garage and watered. Dh had picked up the mail, and what a surprise to get your card, Linda! With the little LEGO bricks inside! Thank you SO much! I have just the spot on a soon-to-be completed page!

Yay for cousin camp! I'm excited for it nylene like if I were participating LOL! Before you know it, the great grands will be old enough to go to camp too! aww MARIBETHR I hope you feel better soon. I haven't had rona *yet* that I know of anyway. But I assume I'll get it sooner or later. LOL kitbop and your invincibility. grammadee I hope you and DH dodged the covid bullet and that DD recovers quickly. Have a safe and fun trip! My A/C was fixed on Tuesday (ahhhh bliss) then about 1.5 hours after the office left for the weekend, it quit again. . I text the landlord and he had someone bring me a window unit, which is helping a lot. It's also not going to be as hot this weekend. I really wish he would stop hexing me as he drives away on Friday lol. At least it's not so noisy in here I can't think. Rudy weekend here again, he's staying tonight and then most of the day tomorrow. Still trying out this new schedule and no idea what we will do yet. I'm not sure why, but I have just felt overwhelmed with trying to scrap the past couple weeks. I look at my in process page, and then walk away. I guess I should sit down and make myself finish something, whether I'm super happy with the page or not. I know there's no "letting down the team" but man I sure feel like I'm letting down the team gramma how is Ken doing? Waving hi to everyone and hope you have a great weekend!

So exciting. And maybe there will be a way that Swayzee and that little guy can be brought in for one event? Like the older kids setting up an human obstical course for them or something?

I am really excited to do Cousin Camp again. Unfortunately it will be sparse this year. One DGS(15) can only stay for a few hours because he is leaving for Moab for Youth Conference. DGD(18) will be working, so that leaves DGS(8) DGS(9) DGS(10) and DGD(15). I called Anj's oldest two and they think a Minecraft theme will be fun. They are both working on games. I hit the Dollar store today and got a lot of my list. I need water balloons and a few other things plus food. I hope they have a great time. They have some fun ideas. I don't think Eddie and Swayzee will be included this year. The kids have always requested that parents not stay (silly kids) and I don't think I could do it with the little ones alone. DH has decided he wants to sell a few pens. I've spent the last week making posters for him and the shop. I don't know how many he will sell from a yard sign, but we will see. He's still working on his Christmas order but has most of those finished. I'm glad to see him busy in the shop and enjoying himself. I have put scrapping on the back burner while helping him organize and make ID tags for each pen. I will probably not get anything scrapped until after the kids leave on the 21st. MARIBETHR, how are you feeling? I hope you have gone through the worst of it. joyfulnana, I hope your mojo comes back soon. Are things going ok with your mother's move and change of circumstances. It's nice that she is willing. That is often the hardest part. Hugs. I empathize with you about your AC. I'm glad you are not expecting very high temps in the next few days. Doesn't it always happen that once the repairman leaves it stops working. DH is having that problem with a new TV remote. LOL. We need to get Doug or Em back to fix it again. We are not as smart as the "Smart" remote. grammadee, I'm sorry about the change in planting plans. I hope your DD feels better soon and that the other family members avoid it. We are being very careful right now. I would hate to get it just as the kids arrive from Calif. I'm back in masks until after they leave. I hope you have a great weekend even with all the planting to do.

joyfulnana - oh no! at least you have the window unit but I hope it's fixed for good soon! nylene - yay for cousin camp - sorry it'll only be some of them, it's hard when they get older and busier. I suspect you're right not to have the littles - they are lots of work on their own, I'm sure. Good luck to your DH with selling the pens. MARIBETHR - hope you're feeling better We celebrated the Platinum Jubilee with a tea party this weekend - I made WAY too much food so we'll continue to celebrate with leftovers for a while. I remember her Silver Jubilee (1977) - Dad was still in the Army so we were on base in Cyprus - there was a military parade and a street party. And Dad got the Silver Jubilee medal and his Colonel (boss) was super excited for him and Dad was so pleased because he had also gotten the Coronation medal.

How cool, Linda . That looks like a fun tea party with lots of good things to eat. I didn't know there was a Silver Jubilee medal, but how wonderful that your Dad was a recipient. He must have been career military, right? It's really nice that the Queen has been able to attend some of the Platinum Jubilee. I'm sure just a short jaunt for her is very tiring. Our fridge/freezer is going out I think. We have tried a couple of things, but if it makes no difference we will have to call the repairman AGAIN. All I need as I prepare for the kids to come is to have a non-working fridge and freezer. I hope you have all had a great weekend, Pokeys!

Thank you nylene - we had tea sandwiches - egg mayo (egg salad), lemony crab & cucumber club, and cucumber. Also sausage rolls, scones with jam, brownies, and a chocolate biscuit cake - plus tea of course. Dad was career military in the British Army- he joined up just before he turned 18 in 1943, went over on D-day, served in Korea as well, and was commissioned as an officer in 1967 I think and didn't retire until he had to at 55 (1980). I was pleased to see her for some of the events as well - she's certainly served a very long time and more than fullfilled her promise from early on. Sadly I don't think there will be many more public appearances from now on. Age, I think, is finally catching up to her. I am sorry to hear about your fridge - I hope the repairman can get it working again for you.

Oh my goodness, nylene , you do NOT need to be worrying about whether your fridge & freezer are working during Cousin Camp! I hope it can be remedied or replaced in time. My mouth is watering for your crab & cucumber and egg salad sandwiches (crusts removed?), scones with jam (clotted cream too?) and chocolate cake, Linda . And my ds (whose dmil is a Brit) would love to sit down for some sausage rolls. Your family finds the most interesting ways to celebrate life!

grammadee - crusts removed on the cucumber and the egg mayo - yes. Not on the crab because I got lazy - and they were also clubs so 3 pieces of bread and it was hard enough keeping things lined when cutting them anyway. No clotted cream because I wasn't able to get any. And yes - that video clip was fabulous

Hey everyone. MARIBETHR I hope you are feeling better. I also hope your DD is feeling better grammadee . nylene Cousin Camp sounds fun as usual. joyfulnana mojo ebbs and flows as life does. Don't worry about not getting much done. Linda your tea sounds delightful.
I went to stay at my brother's Saturday night. It was my niece's dance recital. They did such a great job. Since they're 12 and 15 I won't get too many more of these. It was nice to see my whole family. We still have three weeks of school left.
I signed up for a summer strength and cardio online class. I haven't been exercising at all for a couple years now and I can feel it. I need some help to get moving and I hope this will help me.

Linda - growing up with a Mom who was a royalist (oh my goodness when the queen mum died at 101 she was despondent! I kept reminding her that she was 101 and had lived a very privileged life, it was hardly a tragedy!) I remember many of the royal events. We had lots of those collectible plates and spoons and tea cups... I saw the queen as a Girl Guide in 1983. It was a very.big.deal. LOVE the look of your tea! High teas are very popular around here right now. Our fridge/freezer is going out I think. We have tried a couple of things, but if it makes no difference we will have to call the repairman AGAIN. All I need as I prepare for the kids to come is to have a non-working fridge and freezer. Oh my goodness, I think belonging to the Pokey Peas is a curse on appliances! I signed up for a summer strength and cardio online class. I haven't been exercising at all for a couple years now and I can feel it. I need some help to get moving and I hope this will help me. Good luck! I hate (ie fail at) exercising at home. Have you seen the youtube videos by Chloe Ting? Her body is annoyingly perfect, but I like her voice, australian accent, and her videos are short and do-able. And free I used them for a while when our gyms were closed (although my determination would last for a week and then I'd just sloth for the remainder of the gym closure )

Good morning, Pokeys. Hoping everyone is well. maribeth, I was glad to see you posting on the weekend. Hoping that means you have given Covid the boot. I need to go give your pages love on Flickr. My dd called this morning after walking her ds to the bus for the first time in a week. She was completely out of breath. Yesterday she had ds home for a teacher PD day, and when her dh got home he sent her straight to bed. And that is one week since + test. She says her fever is gone and she feels "not bad" if she doesn't move around much, but even doing work on the computer plays her out quickly. And her voice was like it has been in the past when she had bronchitis attacks. kitbop you asked about Charlie. She is still living on the deck, but dh "sneaks" her in to pet on his lap while he watches TV. What with that going on and poplar fluff in the air, my sinuses may as well be sandbags. She will sometimes settle on his lap for quite awhile, but if there is any chance of action, she wants to go for it. Now that summer has arrived, she is spending lots of time out in the trees around our yard, but showing up on the deck around feeding time--or if she hears us talking out there and decides to drop in and take part in the conversation. How is your adventurous cat after his injury? From your LO, it looks like the injury has not affected his determination or inventiveness. Congrats on the exercise program, justjac. Most of the time, my forgetful mind is my best physical fitness driver, and now that I am walking down the hill to the garden then remembering I was supposed to bring something down from the garage or bring something up from the garden shed, that means most of my planned trips wind up being two or three. Got the bedding plants in and started attacking weeds. Replanted a few corn seeds, cuz not as much grew as we anticipated. Applied some chemical--cover your eyes, environmental people--: I don't mind sharing SOME of my produce with wild life, but won't give up the whole crop! No more gardening now until at least Thursday. Today I need to go to town and take advantage of "10% Tuesday" to stock up on basic groceries. Tomorrow my vehicle has a recall appointment, so I will be spending the day at the LSS. Am in the process of getting organized for that. Basically packing tools and glue and my photos, plus sketches & 2 Peas challenges, and a few things from here I know I want to use on the pages I am planning. Doing some diecutting as well. As for the rest, I will be in the middle of a store. I can pick up whatever else I need. The LSS doesn't open til an hour after I drop off the vehicle, so I don't want to be lugging a bunch of stuff around town waiting to get there to start scrapping.

justjac - add me to the exercise failures although I really need to get back on that bandwagon. Glad you were able to see the recitals kitbop - thank you - I had fun with the tea even if it was a bit involved. OTH I haven't had to cook since - we've been eating leftovers grammadee - Sounds like your DH really wants an indoor lap kitty and Charlie seems to be okay with that at least parttime - sorry about the sinuses. One of my cats (Mini - the bigger black/white) has been sneeking into the bedroom at night and curling on my shoulder so my sinuses haven't been too happy with that (I also have cat allergies but usually they aren't too bad). Have fun at the LSS I scrapped a little yesterday - I need to share the 2nd page - but not otherwise. DD15 had a dentist visit yesterday (no cavities) and a podiatrist visit today and has x-rays tomorrow. All of that out-of-the-house stuff cuts into my creative time.

Oh my goodness, I think belonging to the Pokey Peas is a curse on appliances! I wonder. Had to buy a new microwave oven today. Last night I was using it to cook veggies. Heated the first, then the second, but when I put them both in for a final cook, the oven flaked on me. I think it suddenly contracted Alzheimers'. Forgot completely how to work. The table turned but nothing happened to the food. The clock lost the time. The message said "Welcome to Panasonic. Be sure to read your instructions before operating this appliance." Otherwise it was a good day. Dropped off my vehicle and had the shuttle drop me off at the LSS. The owner let me in early so I could set up to scrap. Got a bunch of pages done, which I hope to share tomorrow. Then picked up my vehicle, printed pic's, went to Canadian Tire to pick up the microwave and some other things for dh. Met justjac and hubby for supper, ran one more errand for my own dh, and headed home.

grammadee - I'm sorry about the microwave. Yay for scrapping - love the layouts! kitbop - ((((Hugs))) -I'm not either - I think just too many other projects in progress though for me. I spent the morning on the phone making appointments - dr visit and covid booster for DD15, covid booster for me, warranty repair for my dishwasher...didn't get my shingles vax scheduled but overall successful morning despite spending WAY too long on hold This afternoon was photos and paperwork...never ending amounts of both it seems. I did get to spy DS30 - he's on detachment to Guam at the moment and the command there posted photos of his group working and he was in several. That was a heck of trip over there for him - left early Sunday morning and got there yesterday - had a long layover in Japan and was even able to take a day trip into Tokyo.

Happy Friday, Pokeys! My plan was to be weeding all day today, but it is raining, so I will be making some cards. The fields and lawns and garden need the moisture and I need 5 Fathers Day cards and a birthday card to get into the mail, so this is a good thing. nylene, which weekend is Cousin Camp? Our grandkids are in two age groups with the oldest five pretty close, and love talking about the times they all camped together or spent time out here at the farm. I would LOVE to get he youngest five boys all together in one place, but have to be content with getting two of the three families together sporadically. kitbop, I don't think I would be as happy to spend time in my craft room if it didn't have a big window to let in daylight. I think in Canada we need to soak up as much light as we can this time of year. I remember hearing about one scrapper in Ontario who would pack up a GO-bag and scrap out on the deck in the summer. Any chance you could do that? Speaking of GO-bags, I need to unpack mine from the other day. Not sure when I will get back to making pages, but I want to sort the photos and make a list of LO's I hope to create. Having a plan always makes it easier to start up again. How is the AC situation for you today, joyfulnana? I hope it is resolved. We don't have AC. And our windows are all crank out, not the type you can slap a window ac unit into. Dh wanted to put AC in years ago, and I told him it only gets hot enough for it for ten minutes a year here. Global warming has had something to say about that and last year we had some hot days on the top floor. But because we have an upper level and a basement, we were able to push the cool air up with fans. Not AC cool, but livable on this floor. For Fathers' Day, I purchased at Costco a small radiator style air conditioner for DH. Ha ha, Linda, dh definitely wants an indoor lap kitty. This rainy morning, he is sitting at the kitchen table planning out his trip to all the manly stores in the next town, and Charlie is lounging on the soft bed in the dog crate right next to him. Most mornings, he brings her in, feeds her, and puts her out on the deck until she shows up in the evening, when he brings her in, sits with her awhile watching TV and then feeds her on the deck when he puts her out again. And I am not blameless in my sinus situation. I do pick her up and give her a quick snuggle when bringing her in or putting her out. She calls me when she sees me, just asking for some attention. Who needs to breathe, right? What is the weather like in your neighbourhoods, kellyr21 and gramma? When ds and ddil were in LA it was cool and rainy while Nanaimo was sunny and lovely. But their Memorial Day weekend in San Francisco was extremely hot. I sometimes forget that California is such a big place! Okay, back to card making... Have a great weekend, Pokeys!

grammadee , I am sorry I am behind on enjoying and commenting on your newest layouts. Seems I don't get much time in the scraproom. I will catch them after Cousin Camp. We spent a day running all over town looking for a fridge that could be delivered before the weekend if our fridge was not repairable. The repair man could not be here until the next day. He found that it was an easy fix, but of course he didn't have the part. A trip to SLC to get the part and he was back the next day to install it. In the meantime, I had to empty the freezer and found that everything was too thawed and the temp had not been cold enough for too many days. It all had to be dumped. Steve has sold 4 pens since putting out his signs. It takes a lot of time for people to look at all of them and decide what they want. He needs me there because he can't see to do the bookwork or to distinguish money denominations. I have not had a lot of time to think through Cousin Camp, but I hope to sit down and really plan this weekend. It's in the middle of next week. I sat down long enough to make a baby card for my niece's baby shower being held locally on Sat. I'll post it in the gallery. Sorry for not being a very good communicator right now. Things will settle down after the kids leave on the 21st and then I will be bored! Sending hugs to each of you. Ruffled Baby Bottom Card by Nylene Budge, on Flickr

Happy Friday! Boy it is hot today! TIme to start figuring out our fan and/or ac use. I had a pretty good week. Our vacay last weekend ended up being a staycation. Maybe this weekend we can go to one of our favorite spots to hang out. I ordered some black Adidas sneakers and looking forward to breaking them in for my walks. justjac, I am trying to get back to my normal exercise routine which is twice a day walks. This week, I did pretty good. I do feel better when I am walking more. joyfulnana- I think we must be related!!! LOL! I don't like the heat either. My dh knows when it is hot that I WILL figure out some cooling solution! Plus, I am getting hot flashes now, so this Summer I gotta be extra vigilant to stay cool. grammadee- Wow, I see you have been having fun with scrapping! Your double pagers are so cool. nylene- Your card is too sweet! How are the great grands? They are the cutest. So fun to hear your dh is making and selling his pens. I will cherish mine. How long has he been making these pens? Waving hi to everyone and gotta go back and read the previous comments to catch up. HUGS!

Yawn, I'm so glad it's the weekend! we have possible thunderstorms this weekend, so this morning we are going to take the kayaks out, and then I'll pull some weeds, and then I'm HOPING that the storms will force me to stay inside and scrap! I'll probably open a crop later today. Thinking out loud, I should post my intentions on the board so peas can plan to join if they want! kellyr21 - we've had to pull out the AC already in May for a few days ~100 degrees, but they were short lived and now we're at a comfortable 80 degrees during the day. I just bought shoes too - ordered a couple of pairs of casual sneakers from Eddie Bauer. I have a weakness for cute comfortable sneakers. nylene - that card is so unique and adorable and dimensional! She'll love it. I'm glad Steve's pens are selling - they are beautiful and there would be a huge market for them if people could find them. Have you thought of putting them up on Facebook marketplace or kijiji?

how nice that you could sleep in on a Sunday morning, joyfulnana. Bet you didn't have Rudy! I could have slept in big time when I was with the girls, but somehow I was always awake about the same time as any day. I am so glad we have not had any 100F degree days here, kitbop. Once it gets above 85, we are whining. A perfect day for me would be about 75-80F, with a bit of a breeze. I hope you got to break in those new shoes, kellyr21. I think if I lived in town, especially where you are, I would go for walks every day. But out here my walks tend to be to a specific spot on the yard I need to do something, and then back again to the house. For a few years I did laps around the yard with the dogs. But they quickly get bored of that so say "That's okay. Go ahead. We will lie here in the shade and wait until you get back." Candi likes to play fetch with her ball, so often my trips to the garden and back involve kicking it to her, then taking a few steps in the direction I want to go while she chases and retrieves it, then kicking it again. I hope the fridge issues have been resolved, nylene, (BOO to the discarded food!) and that Cousin Camp is well on its way to lift off! I am glad that you dh is able to market some of his pens, but that it alot of time commitment for you. Do the sales happen on a specific day? Or when someone calls to ask? Or are these drop ins? Maybe Alex will be able to hang out with Grandpa and be his eyes once in awhile? I spent the weekend cleaning out some closets, putting away a bunch of craft stuff I had taken to BC and to the LSS plus some new items that arrived in the mail. Also got my June 12 cards completed. Need to get 3 Fathers' Day cards and one birthday card into the mail when dh goes to town this morning. And now I need to head out to the garden. Dry enough to do some weeding this morning. Yay me...

Just a quick note. Refrigerator and freezer are both running fine now. It was a big bill, but not as much as a new fridge/freezer. I am taking a 5 min break to catch my breath. I left all the cleaning until today as I was getting ready for Cousin Camp. I just don't have what it takes to clean the whole house in one day anymore!
I finished the iron-on shirts last night and I think things are almost ready. I just have a cake to bake and some notes to hide for the treasure hunt. They will arrive in the morning and I hope they have a lot of fun. Two of the college girls are in town and will even drop by for a short time. I plan to take a lot of photos.
When the Calif kids leave I will come back to catch up with all your beautiful pages and cards. Well... back to the last minute dusting.
