nylene - how wonderful that she feels comfortable with you reading her work - I've only ever gotten to read one of DD22's writings - a short story that I loved. Hopefully you'll get the opportunity to scrap again very soon. The squirrel is there every day now much to Pad-Bear and Dusty's fascination. We've had plenty of actual birds as well - tufted titmice, blue jays, cardinals, hummingbirds (although not recently - earlier in the Spring), and mourning doves. There's a hawk in our yard also and owls but they don't come to the feeder as far as I can tell. Super hot here - highs around 99-101 and heat indexes in to the 110s. We did get bad storms rolling through this evening so it's cooled off to abt 75 but tomorrow will be up there again. This is staying inside weather. DD15 doesn't have any Girl Scout plans this summer- their troop trip fell through and an effort to set up another one failed due to the inability to find a time that worked for enough people. They'll start back up in September I think. kellyr21 - that's so awesome that you get to go to concerts in the park - there doesn't seem to be anything like that here. And yay for the storms to stop in time. The other cats seem to be doing ok - Little Friend had been unwell for some months and I think perhaps they realised that on some level.

oh nylene what a privilege to read her books! That's so awesome that you have such close relationships with your grands. That's the type of gramma I aspire to be. kellyr21 my DS2 went to see Romeo and Juliet in the park last weekend and have a blast. I should really look into things like that. But even though I work from home, I'm such a homebody I have to be peeled out of my home to do stuff lol. And today I have to be the oldest child. Things aren't going so well with mom. She got to Springfield on Monday, slept for 24 hours Tuesday, and overnight on Thursday started having issues again, being nauseous and not able to stay upright. Thankfully, a new hospital that has never seen her, discovered she had a kidney infection which had not been found at her regular hospital, even though they supposedly did all the same tests and scans. So that's good, she's feeling much much better already, and they will release her Monday. But she can't stay with my niece. She needs 24/7 medical access. This was supposed to be a time to get her strength back and get stable. So no option for her, she's got to be in assisted living facility. Whether that is in Springfield, or closer to home for her, is up to her. I'll be talking with her and conferring with my siblings to get her settled somewhere as quickly as we can. Man I'm really starting to hate Friday's. If anyone is going to have something come up, it's on Friday lol. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Oh joyfulnana - it is always a Friday isn't it? Prayers for your mum and for you - such a difficult time. I hope she's on the mend and that you can get her settled into an assisted living place (hopefully close to you and/or your siblings). ((((Hugs))))

Oh, joyfulnana , I am sorry your poor mother is going through a tough time. UTI's in older women can really make them sick. We had patients who seemed to be "out of their head" and once the infection cleared were just fine. I'm glad they found it and it's being treated. Hugs to you and your siblings in all you have ahead of you. You and your mother are in my prayers. No more Fridays for you!!! kellyr21 , I am so glad you are going out to the concerts. I'm sure it feels good to get out after 2 years of being so isolated. It's wonderful that both you and Ron enjoy them. Linda , I do not envy you the hot, hot days and hot nights. I'm sorry things fell through for DD's Scout activities this summer. I think Anj's troop is taking most of the summer off. They had GS Camp the week before they came here and had a great time. I'm sure your DD will find plenty to do for the summer. Is she working toward the top GS Award? (Sorry can't think of the name of it.) Sam is thinking about it, but not very seriously yet. Glad your kitties are doing ok without Little Friend. I finished Sam's book and hated to have it end. I told her she needs to do a sequel. She says she has one in her head, and will do it after the ones she's writing now. kellyr21 , the books I have read are Fanciful Fiction. This one was all about goblins, elves, mermaids and other creatures considered myths and their interaction with the real world. It was really fun. I need to run help DH with his Pen bookwork tonight. Lots of labeling to do. Have a great weekend, everyone. ETA: I forgot to say I scrapped this morning and finished a page. Very simple, but it got my mojo back in gear.

Oh joyfulnana. That is too bad about your mom. What a disappointment. Hoping that now she has the kidney infection under control she will be feeling better at least. I hope you can find her a suitable place soon. I hope your dd finds some things to keep her busy and entertained this summer, Linda. Isn't she planning a trip to see her sister? Have to admit there are times you could share your weather in January, but I certainly don't envy you your heat and humidity now. It was good to see some of you yesterday evening on the virtual crop, even if it was just for a little while. Thanks, kitbop for setting it up. Sorry I missed you, gramma. I won't be getting much crafting done this week, except for a couple of cards that need to come together by the weekend. I have been fooling around with one of them for awhile, but it isn't working out the way I had envisioned, so it may be back to the drawing board. Just got home from the lake where dd & family are camped for the week. Dgs came with me and we spent time at the beach and went to get everyone ice cream while Mom & Dad set up camp. Then Grampa came for a wiener roast. Okay, gotta get a few things organized around here that I left to head out to the lake earlier.

nylene - glad your mojo has returned grammadee - yes- DD and DH are headed to see the older two next weekend - I have scrappy plans for the week they'll be gone. But also house/yard work as MY sister and her dh will be visiting for a couple of days later in the month - and they have no pets and no children at home (he has kids but 2 are adult and the youngest lives with her mum) and they aren't used to our more lived in house. Sounds like a fun and busy weekend for you...and I'm happy to share our weather right now...it's been awful

Good Morning pokeys! I'm kinda over being the oldest and "in charge" when it comes to my mom. She is feeling much better now, and I'm glad for that. But. Now she says she wants to try living alone again. I'm ok with whatever she wants, but I work better with a plan - one that doesn't change every other day lol. I hope getting this infection cleared up with the other measures she has taken as things crop up will keep her living independently for years. (but I'm not holding my breath about it lol) One of my sisters said she's got whiplash from it all lol. It was so good to see some of you guys the other night. I really miss that. Linda that's great that DH is making a trip to see the older two. Will you be making a trip to see them soon? Or will they be coming to visit? Our weather here has been smothering, I definitely commiserate with you about the heat and humidity. I hope your visit with your sister goes well. grammadee it sounds like you and DGS had the best part - the beach and ice cream! I'll take that any day over setting up or breaking down camp lol. nylene I'm glad you found your mojo. It sounds like you may have a budding author in your family!

grammadee it sounds like you and DGS had the best part - the beach and ice cream! I'll take that any day over setting up or breaking down camp lol. Oh I know. When the parents thanked me it took me a minute to think about for what! But I am sure the set up went much more smoothly without his help or whining about being bored and wanting to go down to the beach. Your mom must be feeling a whole lot better now to believe she can go back to living alone. Maybe she can be talked into staying with your niece for a bit of recovery first until she gets a better handle on what she can handle. I am thinking that right now the euphoria of coming back to herself and actually having some energy is affecting her. Did they release her from hospital yet?

I'm sorry I missed some of you at the online crop on Sat. I am missing those. I haven't posted my 4 projects here this month, so here is a layout and 6 cards. The embellishments on the layout are a gift from MARIBETHR in a card kit. I have used them for cards and for this layout. Thanks, MARIBETHR . Grandma Torijoyfulnana , I hope things get settled soon for your mother. I understand the whiplash statement. Hugs.

I am thinking that right now the euphoria of coming back to herself and actually having some energy is affecting her. Did they release her from hospital yet? I think this is exactly what's happening. She was released to a skilled nursing facility yesterday for the next three weeks. She's been in and out of skilled nursing since mid April, and only been at home on her own for one of those weeks and one or two days in between. Mentally, she is in no way ready for a retirement home, and that's where the rub is. My brother and one of my sisters are going to join forces to help her out at home once she is fully released and we will see how that goes. They live in her same town. nylene your cards are beautiful, and that layout is gorgeous! I've been terrible about checking the gallery this quarter. I'm ready for a reset this weekend and get my mojo back. It was supposed to be a Rudy weekend, but he is going with his mom's family to do some fun 4th of July stuff - I am definitely not the fun party gramma. I'm the "lets relax and chill" gramma lol. But it's a good balance right? So not having him, I may open up a crop Saturday if anyone might be interested. Scrapping with others is good for my mojo I think Waving HI to everyone!

joyfulnana , I hope that with help from your siblings your mom can feel more settled when she leaves the skilled nursing facility. Hugs to all of you. I had to chuckle about being the "let's relax and chill" grandma. I am really more of that type too. Cousin Camp is the one exception. Going to do all the July 4 stuff is not my style. I'm much happier being in the house and playing games. Rudy is lucky to have you. grammadee , that was nice of you to keep your DGS while they set up camp. I'd much rather play with grands than set up the camp. LOL. They are really lucky to have you for the grandma! kellyr21 , is there a concert in the park this weekend or will it be combined with the July 4th celebrations? Have you been painting again since you got back into your house and Ron's event finished? Take care of yourself in the heat down there. knutschen , let us know how you are doing. Hope things are going well and that you are healthy. Waving to all the Pokeys. I will be starting a new thread on the weekend. This month really flew by. Last layout for this Quarter: All Wrapped Up

nylene - that's a beautiful Christmas page! I love the cards and the Grandma Tori pager as well -she certainly doesn't look old enough to be a grandma joyfulnana and nylene - I'm the let's chill and relax parent here -DH is the fun party parent. joyfulnana - prayers for your mum and for all of you - such a difficult lifestage I plan to go visit the older two in the fall - possibly going up by train. Dh is driving DD22's truck up to her and it's only 2 passenger (and quite honestly - I don't really care for long road trips)

Happy Wednesday! It is HOT out here! LOL! It feels hotter in our apt than outside! So a/c is on and managing it ok. Hey everyone, I have been papercrafting!!! I finally felt like getting some of my supplies out and got some pictures printed. I am making another one of those pocket albums I made from Heidi Swapp. I made most of the sections and will do more today. Then, I will add pictures and embellishments. Can't wait to share with you all. I had bought some Jen Hadfield pp and stickers a while ago and it felt good to use it. Also, I ordered Heidi Swapp's "Sun Chasers" kit and stamps from Joanns today. Such happy paper. nylene- Yes the concert is tonight. They have them every Wednesday evening until the end of July. There will be mariachi music tonight. I am looking forward to going and having a good time. I have been painting but took a break this week while I think about more art ideas. Your cards and LO are terrific! Your dd looks so in love! Are your cards from Sheetload? You do them so well! Sending a prayer for all you ladies having an extra hard time these days. Man, this had been a tough year and I am hopeful of more joy and peace this year for all of us! Amen!

Yes, that quarter and month really did fly by! I'm awfully glad to have this board and group of pokeys to hang out with. Amen to that kellyr21 - it feels like everyone has more stories and stressors in the past few years. I don't know if it's our ages/stages, covid, or just that we talk to each other more? Probably a combination. I did really enjoy chatting last weekend - how do the pokeys feel about a short crop this weekend? I work, but could be online either Saturday or Sunday evening. Tagging joyfulnana, grammadee, nylene, justjac, Linda, gramma, kellyr21, cycworker... joyfulnana - Did you see that season 2 of "only murders in the building" is out? !!!!!! I did a happy dance! But I'm waiting until I finish "Parks and Recreation" to start it. Good TV shows are my only gym motivation I'm sorry your Mom's situation is so vulnerable right now but I'm glad she is getting back to her baseline! nylene - I think it's just wonderful that your DGD trusts you with her fiction and that you enjoy it! Good news on both sides, a budding bestselling author! Our fireworks are Friday night. Even though I'm working, we're still planning on finding a Food Truck for supper afterwards and then going to the fireworks. I'm truly a "relax and chill" gal. But I love my July 1

kellyr21 - looking forward to seeing your album! Have fun at the concert kitbop - I would like that - let me find my charging cable for the tablet so I can get it charged - I'm planning a scrappy weekend/week while everyone is gone - hoping to get a lot accomplished now my room is all organised Not going to fireworks this year although it's possible I'll be able to see some from the house. I'm not a big fan of 4th of July - the holiday is too linked to my pregnancy losses (13 wk d/c July 6th 2005 and a 6wk m/c July 4th 2009) - so not worried about missing out. Dh and the kids will enjoy the celebrations in Williamsburg

kellyr21 , I look forward to seeing what you are creating. I wish I could go hear the Mariachis with you. I spent part of a year in Mexico City in college and we loved the music. We were all non-drinkers but went to bars so we could enjoy the Mariachis! There were 4 of us from Utah State Univ. who went together to study. Really fun time. BTW my cards are for Sheetload this month. It's a much different design/double fold but fun. kitbop , justjac , grammadee and cycworker , Happy Canada Day to you on Friday! Hope you do something fun. kitbop , I would love to join the gang online either Sat or Sun if it's evening. Sun mornings don't work for me, but I am really missing the Peas. I'll watch for info. Linda , I am sorry for your pregnancy losses. I have empathy. I'm sorry they came at a time the rest of the country is celebrating. When are your DD and DH leaving to see the other kids? Is it right away?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARIBETHR! Hope you are having a wonderful day! I have no idea what tomorrow will bring. Our local town is hosting Canada Day with activities all day and evening. I know I want to see the parade in the morning, and the indiginous performance and art show in the afternoon. Dd & family are camping at a lake nearby, so they will be driving in as well, and I may end up spending the day with them. We are only ten minutes from town, so have been known to drive back and forth a couple of times. Dh does not tolerate walking very far or standing very long, so he is going to drive in separately to take part in the festivities he is most interested in--mainly visiting with friends & school mates who often come "home" for Canada Day.

Happy Thursday! Last night was a JOY being out there soaking in the music and the cool breezes at the concert. It is always so fun seeing the cute dogs enjoying the park, too. Last week, there were two large poodle looking dogs together. When one of them went with the owner for a little while, the one left behind got so restless. But when the dog returned the lonesome dog just jumped all over him and gave him lots of kisses! So sweet! maribeth- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! nylene- I didn't know you spent time in Mexico! How cool! I've been to Tijuana and Ensenada. Yeah, it would of been so cool to be at the park with you. I know you and your dh would so enjoy it. What did you study in college? HAPPY CANADA DAY to all you northern peas!!!
