I'm kind of perturbed at Ipsy. I went through the whole process of getting my DD signed up as a Christmas gift -- put in my payment information and everything -- only to be told that there's a waitlist unless I jump through all these social media hoops. I have e-mailed them to cancel my spot on the waitlist. Is there a service that would be appropriate for a young teen that isn't on a wait?

The only one I know of is vegan. If your daughter isn't animal-cruelty avoidance minded, then she probably wouldn't care for it.

Thanks, but apparently if you complain, they'll take you off the list. I couldn't find the link on my account to cancel, so I e-mailed them and just said that I didn't want to jump through any social media hoops, so could they please just cancel my spot on the waitlist. I just got an e-mail, and surprise, surprise, I'm off the list. DD won't get her first box until January, so now I have to figure out a cool way to "wrap" this gift.

I signed up for Ipsy a few weeks ago for my 17 yo DD. I was annoyed too about the waitlist. I emailed them to see how long the wait would be and they emailed me back to say I was off of it (same day I signed up). She is due to get one by Christmas. You could try that route. Good luck.

If the complaining/threatening to not wait works let me know. I'm willing to risk being removed to get off the wait list quicker!

How do birchbox and Ipsy compare in regards to brands, quality of products, etc? I guess it depends on how you fill out the survey thing, but Birchbox seems a little more high-end than Ipsy. Ipsy did have some high-end brands in their survey, but they also had some reasonable ones. Ipsy just seemed more appropriate for a teen to me, but that may just be my perception. |
