I watched the video later last night and again this morning. The thing that is so appalling to me is we all watched it unfold right before us. We watched it happen on January 6th. Yet, there are those who say that it didn’t happen. They were “peaceful people,” they were “tourists,” etc. It boggles my mind. It goes beyond rational reason. I don’t understand it. It boggles my mind how people can embrace this. But then we have Hitler and others who, history will say, it was all started with a repeated lie. Just keep repeating the lie. Burn books, change history, and keep on telling the lie. One would think people were smarter than this. I’m reading comments from a San Diego news FB and people are laughing saying it’s fake, lies, one sided and Hollywood movie. Saying it’s boring and a waste of time. They still believe the big lie and nothing is going to change as former is still telling them he won and that these people are all lying. They are not going to change their minds and most won’t watch because they have been told that it’s fake one sided etc. I would bet that if I looked at our local groups or LA news FB it would be the same. I just can’t understand how people believe him and that he cares about anyone but himself and how he can make more money. I was really impressed with Cheney she was so calm and articulate and presented the facts. It seemed pretty clear and was even worse than we feared. No one who has bought Trump’s lies is going to have their mind changed by this thing. Best we can hope for is that a sizable group of past non-voters will be motivated to help us get these criminals and their enablers out of office. And of course, we can hope that they’re laying out a case for referring Trump et al to DOJ for possible charges, but I’m not holding my breath on that. |

It boggles my mind to. I have several family members who are so "red" and anti blue that they really don't care to listen to anything I say. It's ridiculous and makes it very difficult to be around them. Politics is off limits at family gatherings as we are very divided!

He didn’t stop to think this would make them all look like a bunch of crooks? Which they are but you don’t expect them to all but admit it.

Honestly, when they said it was never before seen video, I expected something more dramatic and damning. I just kept thinking, I’ve seen all this, I watched it as it happened. The part that stood out to me was the timeline and when the insurrection at the capital read the tweet from trump right after he posted it. I thought that seemed pretty damning and that they are really going to try to show the role of Trump and others, hopefully leading to legal action. |

Reading comments on some news articles is maddening. They are all so brainwashed. There is a pea that doesn’t post anything political here but does occasionally in Instagram. During the broadcast she posted a video (no idea if it was even real or not) about how embarrassing it is that Biden “can’t even string sentences together.” That seemed like the Trumper agenda in a nutshell to me. She has not hesitated mentioning that there are other Republicans who requested pardons from former, I would expect to see their names to come out. Long term I do not think Ginni Thomas is going to walk away unscathed. We do have to remember she is first and foremost a staunch deeply conservative Republican. She is not a hero, but for now she is doing the right thing for our country! |

that they were mislead for personal gain by a known liar, cheat, & con man. I don't hold out much hope for this happening. My DH is an (otherwise) intelligent man, but he STILL believes Donald Trump is, and always has been, a successful, rich businessman. If your DH had lived in NYC or in the tri-State area, he'd know (for decades) that Trump was always considered to be a snake oil salesman (without a brain, with mob connections, with gov't connections). NO ONE I've ever known in NY looked at Trump to be anything but a joke and a fraud.
(It IS amusing to see friends visiting from out of State or out of the Country and wanting to see Trump Tower, falling for his complete faux lifestyle.)

I WISH that there was a ray of light coming through, but I just realized that the family I'm nannying for are MAGA nuts. The dad (42 yo) mentioned to me that it would be a "good thing to bring back public hangings as a deterrent". YIKES!! I was taken aback and said that it's bad enough that executions were brought back (more) with the last administration. He mentioned that Hillary Clinton wasn't hanged. I asked, "For what?? She cooperated in more Hearings re Bengazi than most people would agree to do." He quickly said, "I usually don't talk about politics, so we'll end it there." I think he was trying to feel me out regarding my political beliefs.
Another instance this week was where the same person asked me if my DD34 was still looking for work. (He seemed nice enough to care & he and his wife wanted me available to Nanny for them). He mentioned that it paid well "over $80,000/yr" and it involved something about "voting machines" & that she'd have to do a lot of traveling via plane. I quickly cut him off to tell him that she is dog-sitting here in our complex and she hates to travel, so I didn't get the whole story, but after coming home that evening I had a minute to actually think about what he said and it gave me chills!! WTH???
Today, this same dad's 12 yo son (who seems nice enough + he thought that I was "28 years old", LOL) had a "flag" he wanted to hang in his bedroom. He was holding it up and it was a "Let's Go Brandon" item. I said, "Oh no, you're putting up something with hate?" Probably not right for me to say & I have no idea if they'll let me go, but honestly *I* am the one who is getting more offended daily with this family. They have all signs with psalms in their house and they're encouraging their kids to spread hate??
So, as far as the Hearing, etc., they think it's all "political distraction", Hillary should be hanged, and we have high gas prices because Biden is an "old man who can't think anymore". (Both the mom and dad repeated these things while I was within earshot). They have Newsmax and every Fox station they could find to stream. There's NOTHING that would offer these people balanced news. They have no clue and they don't care. They fully believe that Trump is awesome and Biden is a joke. Not sure about feeling more secure right now. BTW, the mom & dad each have more than 1 Master's Degree, they are both seemingly very intelligent (but lack common sense) and they have secure jobs that bring in more than $300k each!! I was shocked to hear them speak about their stance on politics, but maybe it's due to their wealth? Ugh!

Trump-Republicans are saying/doing. They say that the 1/6 Commission is all fake, that they coerce statements out of former Trump administration people. They won't even acknowledge the 1/6 Hearings (public) because they're a "political stunt". They say that all the footage we've seen on 1/6 was somehow "fake" (yet I saw it LIVE on that entire day). They say that most MAGA people were there on 1/6 but came to voice their opinion in a peaceful way. They won't acknowledge the violence we all saw.
Sadly, while we all watch the public Hearings and piece together what we're finding out is so much worse than we initially saw/thought, the Trump-Repubs are busy trying to win the midterms and plan out the 2024 Presidential Elections much more carefully. They don't care what's real or fake. They'll go with any sentiment from the MAGA idiot just to get what they want. They want a Trump-like President in 2024, and they want to win every seat until then. They want to win any way they can. They want to make more $$ in the corporate world.
I feel that the 1/6 Commission is doing a great job of filling in all of the blanks, as shocking as it is to all of us who have a moral compass. But I don't think that it'll do anything to deter these cruel, selfish MAGA politicians from running and "winning" this time.
I WISH that there would be a severe penalty for the highest tier of people who were involved in this war (it looked like a war). I wish that Trump would be SEVERELY penalized for what he blatantly tried to do (and did). More than just filling us in, I want there to be severe consequences, but I'm doubting that it will happen. I WISH that this would deter the far-right politicians and people, but I doubt it'll happen.

He's an Emmy award award-winning British documentary film-maker who founded the indie film company Goldcrest. He's made many documentaries. His intention to make the documentary was to follow the Proud Boys in the weeks after Donald Trump lost the 2020 election as part of a project about division in America......“We chose the Proud Boys because they’ve been so vociferous in rallies and protests around America, and they’ve emerged as a political voice and force, particularly in the summer of 2020,” Quested told one report over here “We felt they were a group worth following.” starting with rallies in November and December 2020 which the Proud Boys attended. It was purely coincidental that a documentary that started off as following the Proud Boys ended up with footage of the storming of the Capitol on that day. He wasn't expecting that to happen.
