I was looking at the new Santa Paws collection and saw the fish skeleton paper. Oh my gosh, I hate fish skeleton paper. I have cats and there doesn't seem to be a collection that doesn't have it. My cats have never been around a fish skeleton and I keep thinking about all of those little bones getting caught in their digestive track. It just looks like a vet bill to me.
I also hate apples. I'm a teacher and every darn school line has apples on it. Everything made for teachers has an apple on it. When was that last time an apple had anything to do with teaching? The 1930s? 1940? Apples have absolutely nothing to do with my profession and when I'm making school layouts I never, never, use the apple paper/sticker.
I have a few others that make me rage, but I was wondering if anyone else has a motif that they simply will not use.

It just looks like a vet bill to me. This made me die laughing. Totally agree! Cactus. I kill all houseplants, don't live in the desert, so no thank you. Maggie Holmes and all her swans. I think I used one swan, once, in DD. Ties in all "dad" collections feel super dated. Not exactly a motif, but I hate how cutesy most of the baby lines are that are out right now. Just not my style.

It just looks like a vet bill to me. Lol, this made me snort coffee out my nose. It's like they assigned an animal to designers. Maggie Holmes, you get a swan. Heidi Swapp, you get a tiger. Jen Hadfield you get a butterfly. Vicki B, also butterfly. The "man" paper really gets to me. Most all of the men in my life are techie, 21st century, with-it kind of guys. They are not sitting in a "man cave" guzzling Coors and belching with their ties and wrenches. I wish we could get some "adults go out together" kind of paper, instead of "man paper" and "I'm out with my girlfriends" paper. (ETA I am not even sure what that would look like, I just know the man paper irks me)

Oh man, everything already mentioned for sure, and also a long list of others...llamas, the bicycle with flowers in a basket, hot air balloons, vintage stuff in a lot of travel collections. In general, I dislike a lot of the cutesy motifs and have no use for them.

I have used Heidi's tiger a few times but only because it is the favourite animal of my partner's daughter. I'm sure she looks at the pages and wonders WTF I'm thinking when I slap random tigers on her pages, but what can I say, I like Heidi Swapp?!

I know some people love it, but for me it's the camper/rv trailer thing! Why is that on everything, even non-camping themed collections? I tent-camp so it's not my thing.

All the camping I have done/will ever do has been with a tent and backpack. And not so much in scrapbooking...but not all software engineers are nerds with big glasses...some of us are seriously cool scrapbooking ladies.

Feathers.
I am forever ruined by a middle school science class where we looked at objects under a microscope. Every single feather had bird lice on them. Shudder.

manomo, eww yes that would do it for me too! scrappyrabbit, I don't even camp at all so I get annoyed at both the RV/trailer and tents in so many of the outdoor collections. Some of us just like a walk in nature!

I am very annoyed by butterfly motifs.
The swans are stupid, creepy, and irrelevant.
The tigers got a pass from me because it’s the high school mascot for two of my kids. And we’re now in the Year of the Tiger.

The little red one room school house in every school line.
Circus stuff: seals with balls on their nose, clowns, elephants on tightropes... blech.
I'm sure there's more...

I don't care for travel-road trip products that have an old VW bus, a VW bug or an old School station wagon as the mode of transportation.
Where are the sedans, SUV and trucks?

I hate non-holiday lines being so girly themed with flowers all over everything. (Echo park I’m looking at you!) Must there be flowers on the sunglasses. Definitely bicycles with flowers. I’m sorry but my almost 7 yr old DS will never carry flowers on a bike. Also everything in pastel colors. I’m also done with dinosaurs, boats, and planes for little boys. Give me mud, non cutesy bugs, building blocks, etc. Rant over.

I think old fashioned motifs would be my choice. None of my pictures feature old fashioned things, so I just don't use them. Since I scrap boys, travel, outdoors, and dogs, I like a lot of the stuff that works for them. I like flowers, cute bugs, and dinosaurs in limited amounts. Oh, clowns. They have place in scrapbooking.

People. I really dislike people icons. No human faces, please.
ETA: I also immediately throw away anything that says "blessed".

Personally, I like very few motifs now that I am not scrapping young kids. I mean, just how many bicycles, llamas, sunglasses, cacti, palm trees, margarita glasses, snow sleds, yada yada do I need as an adult LOL?
I like geometrics, plaids, stripes, dots, water colors, etc.— non-themed patterns that can be used for backgrounds. If I want a certain motif with a layout, I’ll use my Cricut to cut it out of coordinating paper.
I’m really not much fun when it comes to paper shopping these days!

Bicycles with flower baskets! Can we just get some regular bikes?
Anything that says “best day ever!” I mean technically this can only be used once right?

In general, I dislike a lot of the cutesy motifs and have no use for them. Well darn lol clearly you don't want my "donate this stuff" pile, as it's literally full of exactly this list! I'm also pretty bored with anything with "tape residue." That ship sailed for me 20 years ago!

And not so much in scrapbooking...but not all software engineers are nerds with big glasses...some of us are seriously cool scrapbooking ladies. Along those lines.. I work. There isn't a typewriter in sight though!! Nor is there a cutesy tote bag, or a prim and proper desk. I literally work out of a (pretty massive) tool backpack. Clearly during career day, in the scrapbooking world, all men are assigned ties and briefcases and pointy shoes... and women are assigned a rolodex, a plant and well decorated desk. Obviously!

I've yet to see one scrapbooking road trip/ travel theme item reference a rental car. Not one! I travel a TON and often rent cars. I always make a point to take a pic of it somewhere on "our" travels. Sometimes they are utilitarian, sometimes they are fun, sometimes they are literally what the story I want to tell is all about. I hope Kelly Purkey is reading this!!

Star Student or A Student or I Love School - my kid is there for recess and socializing.
Old fashioned Grandparents lines - my mom and dad do not have gray hair and sit in a rocking chair
'Our Baby', 'First we had each other then we had you now we have everything' - I prefer to document my daughter's life from my perspective since I am divorced so there is too much "we" and "our" in baby lines for me.
'Dream Big Little One' - Seems to be in every baby collection and it's such a weird phrase
'Our Little Princess', 'Little Diva' - Unless you are at Disney I don't care for calling somebody a Princess and I don't want my child to be a Diva.
Umbrellas, Rainboots, Butterflies in so many Spring lines - ENOUGH
The Christmas tree in the back of a truck was cute once but now is overdone.
I was crazy about Rainbows but now they are getting overdone as well.
No to Mushrooms and Owls. When I was really into Cricut they seemed to have them on every cartridge.
*whispering* I think Hello may be finally dying out, I am afraid to jinx it.

I'm not fond at threads like this, because there's always something on somebody's list that I like and still use, and it makes me not want to share my pages here if I've used a 🌈 or 🦋 . Having said that, I agree with most of what people have mentioned hahaha!! Apples, pfffttttt! 🍎

I'm not a theme scrapper, so rarely use or buy themed supplies. I especially dislike the overused stereotypical motifs (e.g. apple = school) & overabundance of florals in the industry. Perhaps because I have allergies & the antithesis of a green thumb, I don't gravitate toward florals, consider them a default embellishment, or use them on non-flower related layouts. It just looks like a vet bill to me. ... It's my understanding the fish skeleton is not meant to suggest cats eat fish bones, rather it references many cats' love of fish as a special treat that is devoured to the bone. Note the Photoplay - Santa Paws collection is discussed, along with the company's other July releases, in this thread.

My first two nephews have no use for sports. My youngest nephew is now playing baseball for the first time at 12. He does not hit homeruns. We are excited when he makes contact with the ball. Making it to first base is fantastic. All of the sports lines have phrases about homeruns, star, #1 player, etc. It kind of goes along with the "star student" school lines. Not every kid is a star. Some are just happy to play the game. AussieMeg, use as many rainbows and butterflies as you want. Heck, use a fish skeleton. Your pages always look great. It's my understanding the fish skeleton is not meant to suggest cats eat fish bones, rather it references many cats' love of fish as a special treat that is devoured to the bone. Then my cat eats it down to the bone, bone gets caught, vet bill! Heck, I love fish and I'm always picking tiny bones out. My cats prefer chicken, anyways. There should be paper with chicken skeletons on it. But I do get what you are saying.
