I also wanted to share this fun story that I posted on FB. I’m just going to copy and paste it. This happened to me on the first day I was out of quarantine from Covid a couple weeks ago… ****************************************************************** Some of y’all may think that ducking Jeep’s is silly…yes, it is…but it makes people smile! Today, I got out of the house just to move around and shop for pretty things (That’s a different post.). It felt good to get out, even though it took all of my energy. The best part of my day was when I went to Dutch Brother’s to get a chai. I placed my order with a really nice young man. The person two cars in front of me had a bigger (or special) order, so they brought mine to me, so I didn’t drive up to the window. As I was driving off, the guy at the window commented that he loves my ducks (the one who took my order mentioned them as well.) He said that they were actually trying to start collecting them there. So, as I drove off, I decided to give them one. I went back through the drive through, and the young man that took my order asked if everything was okay. I said yep! I heard y’all were collecting ducks, so here ya go! He thought that was cool, and he took it inside to show the others. The guy at the window saw me and gave me a puzzled look. I told him that since they were collecting ducks, I thought I’d give them one. Man, they were STOKED! They were dancing around yelling. It was so funny! It made me smile. Just what I needed! **************** Here’s the link to explain Jeep ducking 😁 lancasteronline.com/news/local/duck-and-wave-a-look-at-why-jeep-owners-put-ducks-on-other-jeeps-and/article_0fc9f098-f54c-11eb-900f-4bf2dd5471e3.html

A couple of weeks ago, I won $100 credit towards some new clothes. I never win that sort of thing, and it had been kind of a rough week at work, so it was exciting just to win. I picked some things out, they were delivered this week, and I'm pretty happy with them.

(am I the only person who had to google "jeep ducking?") Nope!
We have had over an inch of rain in the past three days/nights. This means that: * I don't have to hand water any of the 40+ bedding plants in the garden. * It is too wet to do the hoeing and hand weeding that needs to be done out there, so I have an excuse to stay in the house and play with paper. * Most of the rain has come at night, so we have had SUNSHINE during the day! Perfect situation for me!

Lots of good stuff happening around here lately! We can start with the fact that I’m on summer break!
I got a super cute Bob cut on Tuesday last week. Chopped 20+” off with 17” to donate. My hair never cooperates after I wash it. I can tell you all it lays so nice and proper and turns under perfectly! I wash/condition/towel dry and go. Love this cut! The best part? A past student did it for me at HER salon! I’m so proud of her!
I have a 3D printer and have had flexible filament (TPU90) sitting around too intimidated to try it. Decided it was going down on Friday. It printed PERFECTLY the first time! Go me! It’s really fun to print and the things are squishy! I want to print myself a phone case and some resin molds to make bookmarks.
We have a stray cat who needed to get neutered hanging around. I set out a trap that I borrowed on Thursday, caught one of my own damn cats. Took her in the house and reset it. Went out Friday morning at 5:30 and found that I caught the stray “Pizza” in it. He was so chill. No meowing, no crying, nothing! Into the car to the meet up and he was silent! Got him picked up and into the master bathroom for a bit because it was 102 out that day. We let him go and he took off but he came back last night for dinner and loves from my 10 year old.
I ran into a past gym teacher for my dd at Costco and we caught up on Iife. This is someone I think of often and hope she’s doing well. She indeed doing well and in college for her nursing degree.
I dropped my dd at gym on Friday at 3:30, drove 17 minutes to Costco to get gas (only 2 cars in front of me!) and shop Costco and run into target and I still made it to my bungee class at 4:45. After my class, I drove back to get my dd and go home. She had packed her dinner so she wasn’t cranky and miserable and angry like she gets when she’s hungry.

I successfully set a sleeve in my sewing project yesterday! Sleeves are often referred to as “sleevils” my my friend group so I was happy the one was set with minimal fuss. I still have to do the other one though. Fingers crossed on that one lol.

After losing 4 of our cats since January, DD34 adopted a 9 week old kitty who desperately needed a home. I only had my 1 black cat (Levon) left here and he was VERY depressed without his best friend. This little kitty is VERY active, but sassy, well-adjusted and sweet. He seems to want to be best friends with Levon already & Levon has been following him around like a doting parent! It's adorable. Finally some happiness here instead of SO much loss + i'm not involved in the kitty's upbringing at all. Feels like a grandbaby!
Also, one of my sisters & my nephew let us know that they're coming here in a few weeks. I have 2 weeks off and my sis immediately booked their flight!
(Love reading all of the other sweet posts! xo )

We love giving and receiving ducks KikiPea . The Jeepers who don't are just scrooges! It has been a rough couple of weeks, so this is a good thread to remind me of what I'm greatful for! My oldest DD, who has struggled with depression and anxiety, is suddenly thriving. She is now a fully functioning adult with an apartment and her dream job. She's a graphic designer and her logo was chosen over the others on her team for a huge event and was displayed in lights on one of our city's skyline buildings last month. She also got a lot of resonsibility at that event and really showed her worth to her employers and others in her industry. I'm just so dang happy that she's doing so well personally and knocking it out of the park at her job. I had all 3 of my kiddos nearby for 3 weeks before one of the twins headed off for a summer internship last week. I love having them all together! We finally had an estate sale and are one step closer to closing out my parents' estate, which has been hanging over our heads way too long. As a bonus, a lot of people were interested in the house, which we haven't even tried to sell yet. We've been worried about how difficult it will be to sell because it's in a really bad part of town, and now it looks possible to sell without even listing it.

In March, we ripped out some overgrown shrubbery in front of our living room windows and I turned the area into a garden with annuals, pots and three pieces of furniture I saved from my mother's garden. I feel like we have a new room addition. I go out there and sit some in the late afternoon when the sun is around behind the porch and the area is shaded. Most of the plants are doing well, the trumpet vine on the chimney is in full bloom. It's so much prettier than those evergreen shrubs.
Also I replaced a delipidated bird feeder with a metal squirrel-be-gone version that the birds love. It gives me endless entertainment watching the squirrel try to get into the thing. He can get a few seeds but then he slips down the pole and has to start over.

I attended a summer camp reunion this weekend. Some of the people there were my counselors when I was a kid (and I'm almost 58 years old). Some were the girls I have known my whole life because we were campers together and then became staff members. Some were my campers who also became staff members. To my delight, I got to bunk with the three women I worked with for one perfect summer. I was the unit leader and they were the counselors for the 7th grade girls unit. We just had the most magical, laughter-filled time. And just like that summer, we spent the weekend laughing until our sides hurt.
52 kids will attend our camp this summer on campship. We did a service project that consisted of putting together camp kits for them, so they have the supplies they'll need. It felt so good to be of service to a place we all love so dearly. And how wonderful is it that 52 kids, who couldn't afford camp, get to go? I saw more than one person wiping away tears as they filled bags with bug spray, sunscreen, beach towels and sleeping bags. I needed this weekend to remember who I am and what is important in life.

My contractors are making excellent progress! They have removed all of the flooring downstairs, all of the walls in the rooms that were most affected by the leak, and walls only part way up in the rooms that were further away from the source leak, but water wicked up the wall anyway. My house no longer smells like damp and moldy yuck. The guy knew the smell was bothering me and he had already mitigated the actual mold areas but went ahead and sprayed an additional disinfectant so that the downstairs would smell better. It does!
The mold certification people come on Tuesday and if they say there is no more mold, we can go ahead with putting the insulation and new wallboard back up. The guy with flooring samples comes next week. I think the guy that is redoing my kitchen lighting is supposed to come next week as well. That will make a nice change in that room as well.
My realtor is vetting a landscaper to redo my back yard area. I just completely redid the front yard myself, removing the grass and putting in creeping rosemary and lavender instead. The front is filling in very nicely and the rosemary has delicate little purple flowers that go nicely with the lavender blooms. I have a cast iron settee out there and when you sit down you are surrounded with fragrance. Plus my water bill went down 44% from when I had grass!
But after all the efforts to finish the front, I'm exhausted and have no desire to redo the back. Especially since I am scrambling to pack the upstairs. I want to have the majority of it packed myself because the movers charge $1400 per day! If I have it all boxed up and in the garage like I have been doing, they should be able to clear the house in half a day. If I had the strength, I would load the pod myself, but I just can't do it. My fibromyalgia is kicking my butt but I am determined to do as much as I can toward the packing myself. Especially my bedroom. I don't want them handling my under lovelies!
It won't be too much longer until I can get my house listed and sold! I am so excited to move. Well, I'm sad to leave my two close neighbors, but both have promised to visit me when I get settled in Oregon. We will stay in touch via emails and I may have to actually use Facebook to provide updates to them.
My neighbor had a leak start a few days after I warned her about our copper pipe issues. She is in pretty much the same state that I am in, cement flooring throughout her downstairs and big holes in her walls from where the contractor replaced all of her pipes. She is ahead of me there. We got together last night to drink wine and commiserate on the condition of our homes. She said her flooring won't be in for 3 months!! She said they are sick and tired of having to watch TV upstairs. Since she has 3 months to live with concrete flooring I suggested we pull her really nice outdoor furniture into the house. We did that while her husband brought down the giant TV from upstairs. We even made a semi decent dining room with a folding table covered with a tablecloth. It felt more like a home again. We kicked back at her new dining room table and drank to our success!

My ex fiancé drove a Honda S2000 and we used to get together with other S2000 owners and go for lengthy drives starting at the ocean and then driving through the mountains and finally the desert, stopping for lunch and then driving back to the beach where we started. It was so fun.

Me and my sis have been redoing our back patio and perennial garden. Last year a lady on FB was redoing her garden beds at the end of last summer and was giving away hosta if you came and dug them up. We went and got about 7+. They came up really nice this year. I bought a few new patio chairs, table and umbrella. I made planter buckets with poles to hang patio lights. We were working at it yesterday and had pizza delivered because we were so whipped out and had them deliver it to the back door. The pizza delivery person, said WOW, your yard is beautiful. It made all the hard work worth it.

love reading all these positive updates!
We went to IKEA today and DH bought me the stuff from my wishlist for my craftroom - a 3x3 Kallax, 2 Alex drawers, and a desktop. And he said he'll assemble my stuff before he does his own (he bought a bunch of Pax units and shelves for his bonus room) - msotlyb because my room is ready for it and his needs some unearthing first. And I got salt liquorice - yum!

We were looking for a place to live and stumbled upon a great opportunity in my parents' hometown (they are both deceased).
We need to vacate our current place so our landlord can renovate our unit and the one upstairs. We started to look into purchasing but didn't feel it was the right time after looking at a couple homes for sale. We then turned to the rental market and were shocked at how expensive places were despite not getting much in return.
I found a cute two-bedroom house on Facebook that has been recently flipped. We got the keys before our recent trip to CA and have slowly been moving things over. Our movers come on the 24th and we need to be out of our current place by the 30th.
While going through my mother's belongings last week in CA (she recently passed), I found a pin that says "My Roots are in Carnegie, Pennsylvania." That's the town where we found the rental. Kind of crazy. However, I plan to get involved in the community and to find a way to honor/remember my parents. I will look into getting my dad a military remembrance flag (they post those around town) and will probably do something through the library for my mom (she was a generous donor for years).
We can't wait to move over there!

luvnlifelady, so sorry for the recent loss of your mother. I'm sure finding that new rental will give you a lot of things to remember your parents by. May those memories soothe you when you need it most.
