Stephen Colbert's Staff Arrested

I was wondering what was so new and exciting with the Colbert staff members and realized this thread had went really sideways. I kind of hate when things get "hashed" out aka "bashed" on a totally unrelated thread where relevant people might have no idea that it's being discussed.

I confess as a pretty regular poster on the dinner thread - well at least for the last year, can't remember when I jumped in but it's been a while. I'm kinda lost on the whole sunnycamom drama. I didn't really notice any big dustup of people leaving so really didn't understand scrapmaven 's post a few days ago - not saying it was a mean girl post, just saying I some how managed to miss all the drama entirely so was confused. I did notice the video when sunnycamom posted it, but didn't watch it as I didn't seem like something I wanted to see that morning, not sure why there was some big need for hiding in a spoiler or deleting, it was pretty obvious what the subject matter was, to me at least, and thought people could watch or not. I do find that that there is a massive amount of variability on how real one can be on the dinner thread and how much support you can expect to receive. I'm sure it's somewhat due to some people who've posted for years - some people are also really quite pleasant and rarely rude, which helps of course to generate support when they're going through tough times.

I've found the thread a pleasant break from some of the other threads on this site that have just become tiresome. But as someone who has posted when angry, stressed and otherwise not my best self - I have sympathy for someone going through an incredibly stressful time and doing the best the can - it might not have always been sunshine and roses - but there was very real concern about a situation utterly out of her control for her child's survival. Are there those going through painful, terrible things who don't bring it to the board - sure - that works for them. There are also some people going through terrible things that have been given nothing but support and love from the peas. This place will always be the most bizarre combination of kindness and bitchiness one can find.

I’m in agreement with pinklady about the timing of the content of scrapmaven ’s reply.

I mean Sunnycamom had JUST apologized, was seemingly JUST moving out of major crisis mode, and rather than accepting the apology and moving on (or saying what she needed to say at a later date) she felt the need right then to say what had been clearly on her mind for quite some time. It is my opinion that the timing was awful.

Now, I know y’all have great love for scrapmaven, and I’m sure she’s a great person. I don’t know that our paths have ever crossed, but what went down today between her posts and yvonne’s insinuations have left me with a very bad taste in my mouth about the peas.

He did not give a tour of the Capitol building.  Tour was innocent according to capitol police

So you yourself can't let it go and needed to throat punch scrapmaven? Why is that an ok response?

I mean, I'm not telling you how to respond, and I know you like to be blunt. But I think defending one person while hitting at the other in this manner is just perpetuating the behavior you're calling out.

“The Late Show’: Stephen Colbert Says Capitol Arrests Were “First-Degree Puppetry”

“Stephen Colbert addressed the arrest of several of his Late Show staffers and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, joking that it was “first-degree puppetry” and calling out Fox News for claiming that it was an “insurrection”.

It comes after seven people, including Robert Smigel, who is known for being the creator, puppeteer and voice of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, who were filming a segment for the CBS late-night show were arrested Thursday night in the Longworth House Office Building by U.S. Capitol Police.

Colbert said, “Thursday evening, after they’d finished their interviews, [my staff] were doing some last-minute puppetry and jokey make-em-ups in a hallway, when Triumph and my folks were approached and detained by Capitol Police, which actually is not surprising. The Capitol Police are much more cautious than they were 18 months ago and for a very good reason. If you don’t know what that reason is I know what news network you watch.”

“The Capitol police were just doing their job, my staff was just doing their job, everyone was very professional, everyone was very calm. My staffers were detained, processed and released. A very unpleasant experience for my staff,” he added.

Colber said it was a “fairly simple story” until Fox News “started claiming that my puppet squad had committed insurrection at the U.S. Capitol building”.

“First of all: what? Second of all: huh? Third of all, they weren’t in the Capitol building. Fourth of all and I’m shocked I have to explain the diference, but an insurrection involves interrupting the lawful action of Congress and howling for the blood of elected leaders, all to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. This was first-degree puppetry,” he added.”

Need to clear a few things up.

1. I had been a member of the dinner thread since the OG 2peas. In that thread I would post updates about ds's medical adventures which included: post surgery photos, him in just a diaper with a picc line, and CVL broviac line, and an A-tube coming out of his belly button, him on life supportive machines in the PICU, him on oxygen in a pull cart playing in the playroom, him hooked up to EEG monitors, etc.

I also posted all kinds of photos of dd during her medical adventures.

So for about 16 years I spoke about and posted photos about our medical adventures.

Not until October did anyone ever have an issue. It wasn't until lostinspace losthershit about a photo of a few hives I wanted to show that were just a few I had covering my body from a weird freak reaction I had to Pfizer dose 3.

I actually stopped posting for awhile on that thread and would just post here and there with no info. Just food. Then decided to come back and apologize and was botched at.

Funny thing is that we were always told to take our issues to PMs. Yet great leader felt the need to publicly shame me. 😕

Of allllllll people who should have an ounce of sympathy and support you think it would be her. Her who used to post all kinds if medical stuff too.

2. It's not just a dinner thread. It was a source of support for those who 1. Traveled, 2. Were going through divorce, 3. Were going through medical stuff, 4. Any other issues in life. We all read and supported each other's journey. Or so I thought. So no food wasn't the only thing talked about. Funny thing is that I reached out to 2 of the frequent group members who told me my posts had nothing to do with them not posting anymore. Odd...

3. Yvonne, who made you the 2peas thank you police? Just so you have the truth:

The formula I got was from insurance. That I, GI team, insurance, state, and specialty medical team searched hi and low for.

I spoke to 2 people that I called personally and was promised formula.

No formula has arrived from any government source.

Never got a call from Abbott.

I thanked all those who wrote/called. But according to you that wasn't enough I see. So you got mad. Because hey it was the in cool 2peas thing to put down a person who wasn't here to defend themselves. Very adult like.

4. Why do adult women have the need to tear apart and gossip about a person who left?

It sucks that I have to come here to defend myself. Wtf.

5. My apology was heartfelt and to be torn down...fuck that. I came to the realization that it was all fake.

I often read the dinner threads but don’t post. Truly, I have so much empathy for what you are going through. I can’t even fathom.

What I don’t understand-if other people on that thread told you they were uncomfortable with the medical stuff being posted, why didn’t you just start another thread? There are several people going through medical issues who I’m sure would have participated.

Sunnycamom: "I want to thank each pea who emailed on my son's behalf. You have no idea how thankful I am that you took the time out of your day to do that for us. You don't personally know either of us but to reach out and try to help means to world to me. I have fought for over 16 years to keep him happy and thriving and alive."




Despite the accusation, Sunnycamom's post sounds to me like a heartfelt thank you that's just OVERFLOWING with gratitude. AND Sunnycamom apologized for her demeaner here as she fought for her son's life.
I sure hope Sunnycamom/pantsonfire received an apology for accusing her of something that isn't at all true.

ONE person. And funny thing is several of the dinner peas PMed me and said ignore her ass, block her, don't leave, we get it, blah blah blah.

And 2 of those same peas then bad talked about me.

Eta: I blocked her on all levels. She could have blocked me.

So then we need to have several other threads going then and just post what we eat. It was way more than that. We shared all kinds of stuff - divorce, death, vacation, ex stuff, college stuff, job stuff, mental health stuff, etc. I am also not the only one who posted medical stuff. AND it wasn't out there. Hey keep ds/ds in your prayers, they are having xyz procedure/surgery etc. Or hey have you tried this therapy for autism? Or this is something new going on anyone else with kids with Autism deal with this?

It was an all in 1 helpful tribe. Or so I thought.
