Yes, I work for a state university. This is only the second time we’ve had off for it, though. While we get MLK day off too, we don’t get Columbus Day, Veterans Day or Presidents Day. Yeah, that has been our schedule as well.

It is not a holiday in my state, so no, I do not have it off. If I did, because it falls on a Sunday, we'd observe on Monday. If it fell on a Saturday, we would get 8 floating holiday hours; we would not observe it on Friday. It’s a federal holiday. I didn’t realize some states refuse to acknowledge all federal holidays. (Not that recognizing a holiday means it’s a day off, just that the holiday exists.) Oh, apologies. My state recognized Juneteenth as a holiday in 2009, it's just not a day-off holiday. We also don't get Indigenous People's Day, Presidents' Day, or Veteran's Day off.

DH works for a national company and has it off as they recognize all Federal holidays. My Dad works for a federal company and has it off, but his wife who works for a private company also has it off as they usually follow all Federal holidays as well.
I also checked our school district's website, since your situation was specific to schools during summer, and it lists it as a "holiday" and the volunteers for the Summer Food Program were told there would be no service that day. We are in Kansas & Missouri.

Private company and we do not get it off. We don’t get most federal holidays though so when they signed it last year and my company did nothing, I wasn’t holding my breath for it to be added to the calendar.
We only get Memorial Day, Labor Day, the Th/Fr for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, or 4th of July are during the week we get them off but if they are on Saturday or Sunday we don’t.

Our state does not include it on the list of their paid holidays. My husband works for an engineering firm that follows the state calendar so he’s working.
Our youngest son works for Colgate-Palmolive while going to college. His plant is taking all their workers to Carowinds (a theme park) for the day.

I work in a public school in NJ and we have Monday off for Juneteenth but we were just notified of it mid-week last week so it came as a surprise to all of us twelve month employees.

I have 2 jobs that are both a set your own schedule sort of situation, one out of the house and one at home online. So theoretically, I could take the day off if I wanted. But that would mean making up the work later in the week, and it wouldn't be a paid day off anyway, so I'll just work. I worked Memorial Day, I'll work July 4th and Labor Day, this is no different for me. I've never been a big fan of the summer holidays anyway and when I had more traditional jobs, I would frequently offer to pick up a shift if one of those holidays fell on my regular day off.

I work for a private company and we don’t get it off. My daughter works for the IRS and she gets it off. Because she works 4 10 hour days and has every Monday off she has Tuesday off.

Work for a privately owned company. We are not closed. In fact, I tried to schedule an ACH for Monday. Took me awhile to realize why I couldn't:)

This is the first year I've ever had it off. We are closed on Monday. This is the first year it’s been a federal holiday. To answer the OP, I work for a private fintech company and yes, we have it off (observed Monday). Technically, it's the second year it's been a federal holiday. It was declared as such so close to the holiday last year that everyone was scrambling (although the federal agency I support quickly added it to the list of holidays so all the civil servants got it off). It's been an official state holiday here in Texas since 1980, although some state offices have it as a 'skeleton staff' day (and some of them don't get it at all when it falls on a weekend) - BF works for Health and Human Services and this is how they have it. I'm a little miffed about how it's being handled with my company. We're a federal contractor, so our customer has the day off. The prime on our contract and the other partner company on our contract have it off as a paid holiday. My company? Nope, refused to put it on the holidays list. We have to take a vacation day. We COULD work instead, but that will cause the budget person for the contract to have a coronary. Corporate sent out an email saying we could swap it with one of the other remaining holidays this calendar year. I was SO tempted to swap it with Columbus Day or Veterans Day - they both fall outside the end of our contract - but I figured they probably would make me pay it back when our contract (and my employment with the company) ends Sep 30. I have more than enough vaca time to cover it - it's just that I shouldn't HAVE to when I've been in government contracts for almost my entire career and it's always been "we work when the customer works and we get off when the customer gets off." </vent>

(although the federal agency I support quickly added it to the list of holidays so all the civil servants got it off). Wasn't it signed on June 17 last year??? Holy cow, that's crazy they were able to move that quickly. I guess I assumed that signing it so close to the holiday was symbolic but the actual holiday didn't "go into effect" until this year.

No, it's not an official holiday at the university where I work, though it is starting to be acknowledged. We also do not get MLK day off. Instead we are encouraged to attend/participate/volunteer in the many events we have on campus celebrating his life and work.
I've been out on vacation the last week and haven't heard much about it this year, but I imagine there will be events on campus acknowledging the day.
ETA we also do not get President's day, Veteran's day etc.

I work for a community college district. Last year, they acted very fast, and closed. I just did a search in my work email for Juneteenth and saw an email last year at 6:15 pm on Thursday night cancelling a meeting for the next morning because of the new holiday. I also found emails going back to 2016 explaining to employees the significance of the date, 5 years before it became a federal holiday. Yes, my district is very tuned in to our community, and yes I have quite a historical archive in my email

My husband has to work although they seem to only get the major holidays off. I would think that only government and banks would be closed.

1 flea market I have a booth in is open, 1 is closed. Both are on 'regular business hours' schedule.
I am listing stuff on eBay. Whatever I sell today will be mailed Tuesday since USPS is closed tomorrow due to the holiday.

I am not off, I am a 911 dispatcher and it is my regular work day. Also, I work for a tribal police department. We have some holidays off that relate to the tribe, but Juneteenth is not a recognized tribal holiday.

Do you not get them or are they “floated” to account for other days off. My husband works for a state university and those that you mentioned are “floated” so they get them off when the university shuts down between Christmas and New Years. I work for a county government so I get it off starting last year.

Or maybe it is just their services. They treat a specific group of people and only nurses and support staff are working. They were very surprised that it was a holiday.
