s/o of the photo prompt thread
Are there prompts/challenges/ideas/classes that you would like to do but don't for some reason? What and why?
I love the idea of photo prompts or journalling prompts and special mini albums etc... but I have SO many photos I want to scrap that taking extra or using my scrap time on something else seems unwise to me. And the idea of making even MORE albums to store...well...that doesn't seem like a good plan either.
I've done DD twice now (2019 and 2021) but don't think I'll make a yearly habit of it. I did WITL during 2020 - and I'm glad I did because it captured some of the changes we made due to Covid - but again not a yearly habit.
I do have various lists of prompts (photo and journalling) saved to my computer just in case I find myself with more time than photos in the future

No; I exclusively scrapbook 12x12 (& include various sizes & configurations of page protectors to hold extra photos & memorabilia in my albums) & am not interested in projects (e.g. OLW, DITL, WITL, JYC, DD, cardmaking). Plus, I already have a backlog of photos/stories to keep me busy.

There are a ton of classes or challenges that I would love to participate in, but get around to a very small portion of them. Sometimes, I'm just good with supporting someone that put together a class, even though I don't get fully into it. Maybe there are supplies or digital content that make it well worth my while anyway Anything prolonged that I need to follow along with rarely works for me. Prompts/challenges tend to be a little free range for me when I have my PL to catch up on and decent quantity of pictures kitted and ready to go. I like classes that I can do on my own time and I avoid most things with a deadline (my exception is the card swaps I participate in). I do attend a couple of crops a year and love that time since the long weekend is fully blocked out for scrapping and "me" time. Crops are also when I plow through the kits I have. For me, it always comes back to lack of time and the quantity of what is available. I also do both card making and scrapbooking (12x12, DD & PL plus not opposed to mini albums for a trip, etc.) so it's even hard to split my time between all of that, so I usually stick to what's already in progress. And I'm slowww and don't tend to copy ideas, I generally am looking for inspiration, and neither help the use of my time. Even through my kids are grown and just about completely flown, it hasn't freed up as much time as I expected. Eventual retirement may or may not help, we'll see!

I'm the opposite, Linda . I feel I'm terrible at doing traditional scrapbooking but thrive on smaller projects and specific classes. Any mini album 4x6/3x8 and smaller, I'm good, especially October Daily/December Daily/WITL/life right now-esque. But I've abandoned all hope when it comes to doing larger pages on the regular besides a very minimalist PL. I'll never catch up so I've just accepted it's not going to happen. It is what it is...

Sketch challenges. I tend to to more 8.5x11 pages and a lot of times I can't see how a 12x12 could work. Definitely don't want to do WITL. My life is very routine.

I've done DITL a couple of times and I'm so glad I did. They were when my kids were little so it's great to look back on our lives back then. We often think what we're doing is not worthy of a project like that but I'm grateful I took the time to document going to the library and getting a Happy Meal. I love those pictures and layouts. I really wish I would have done an early pandemic DITL. It would have included lots of pajamas and walks and other things that I thought were boring at the time but those days are over and now it's too late. I did document the early months of the pandemic but not DITL. That being said, I don't think I could ever do a WITL. I know I'd have a hard time staying focused for an entire week. I feel like I'd start forgetting to take pictures by Tuesday.

I love possibilities. So I collect scrapping supplies and tools so I can have the option of using them.
I like creative ideas. I sign up for courses because I love the idea of trying something new. I watch the classes and often download the printables. I don't finish many of the projects. But I DO try many of the techniques or design ideas as I am doing my own thing.
I have lots of photos to scrap and stories to tell, a list of cards I plan to create and send, and I like challenges and classes that help me do that without my feeling forced to create a card I won't send or a page I won't put in my album.
I subscribe to LOAD, am inspired by the samples and all the takes on each challenge, and often incorporate their challenges into what I am scrapping. But I very seldom complete it, because it requires one page done every day. Some days I make a bunch of pages. And then there are stretches when I have no time or no energy or something else has my attention.

I would love to do a LOAD challenge but I am afraid I’ll get off track and then be discouraged and quit!

For all the reasons you said, linda I rarely take time to do any challenges. Sometimes I have a layout that fits POTW that I share. I also used to do the team challenges but I got overwhelmed. I just finished an album for dgd2 first month and while I see most pages are so similar it makes me wince, it is DONE! So, I see challenges as a distraction from my desire to get pages done and not a motivator.

I would love to do a LOAD challenge but I am afraid I’ll get off track and then be discouraged and quit! Have you checked out our Q3 challenges list? Lots of challenges to get you going using your stash, none of the pressure to finish at least one project every day.

I like projects and classes, but challenges just don’t motivate me. I have my own list of things I want to work on, not something someone else tells me!
