I play the harp. My fingerprints change so often I can’t use them to access my phone. It becomes a huge problem when I need to access pediatric and labor & delivery units in the hospital. I have never heard of this! I wonder if it affects the left hands of the players of other string instruments. We all get calluses.

I've never been fingerprinted anywhere. I don't hide my face online, obviously.

Did you ever read "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks"? Companies have made millions and millions off of her cells, and her children couldn't even get adequate healthcare. Yes I've read it, my comment was a reference to that situation. No-one could have predicted what would happen with that cell line. I disagree with some of the family members thinking they should be paid and I would feel the exact same way if that was a cancer they removed from me. I understand how science/medicine/research works and if there was an expectation that people got paid for every bit of tissue surgeons removed, our medical knowledge would be 100 years behind where it is now. I suppose my big concern was the lack of informed consent. It's amazing to me that even in this day and age people are not given notice how their genetic material will be used when they have organs or other tissues removed. Edited to add: today, tissues are anonymous, so a researcher can't link your cells back to you. In Henrietta Lacks's case, they figured out who "HeLa" belonged to, so her family members had no privacy relating to personal medical history.

I forgot, I signed up to be a bone marrow donor in college, so my DNA is in that database somewhere. I had to call a few years ago and let them know I am no longer eligible to be a donor as I have a systemic autoimmune disease.
For those so concerned about privacy, do you donate blood (if you are eligible)?

Oh, I'll add I haven't done a DNA test because I don't want to find any more of my dad's relatives who will ask for money!
